  1. It's almost always a coaching combination Current: Tonte and Schoettle All-time: Goeble and Helfrick
  2. This is so simple, and so obvious, I'm not sure why it's even a discussion. What is the real reason the IHSAA won't allow us to include full wrestlebacks? Has to be an ego/power struggle thing in my opinion. You can't plead ignorance or feign confusion about something so simple. That doesn't pass the red-face test for me. Are they just obnoxious, power-tripping jerks who want to control everything? Or are there legitimate reasons that we're all missing? "How many times do you have to lose?" ... seems like passive-aggressive BS to me.
  3. I think most referees would wave off the escape and award just the reversal.
  4. A lot of wasted money in my opinion. 1 Tito Ortiz* $1,495,000 - WASTED 2 Michael Bisping* $850,000 - STOP PAYING THIS BUM! 3 Jon Jones* $785,000 4 Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira* $750,000 - QUESTIONABLE 5 Vitor Belfort* $620,000 6 Lyoto Machida* $604,000 7 Frank Mir* $575,000 7 Rampage Jackson* $575,000 - WASTED 9 Mauricio Rua* $565,000 10 Donald Cerrone $494,000 11 Junior dos Santos $485,000 12 Rashad Evans* $480,000 13 Anderson Silva* $475,000 14 Wanderlei Silva $470,000 - QUESTIONABLE 15 Cung Le $420,000 - WASTED 16 Brock Lesnar $400,000 17 Forrest Griffin* $400,000 - QUESTIONABLE 18 Georges St-Pierre* $400,000 19 Alistair Overeem $385,714 20 B.J. 5. Who wants an IHSAA shirt?
  6. Injury time gives opponent choice in NCAA.
  7. So when will the brackets be up?
  8. He came in to weigh ins with a walking boot on. Looked like he had a broken foot or something.
  9. I don't mind shaking every kid's hand. And I don't mind if they just go back to their bench. Doesn't matter to me. I don't take it personally. Part of learning to be a man is learning to control your emotions. If you have a kid who struggles with controlling himself after a loss, you're almost setting him up to fail by forcing him to shake hands with everyone.
  10. I think the IHSWCA is great, but it only makes sense to continue to improve. Making it as simple as possible for guys to join and others to donate makes perfect sense. It's too simple not to do.
  11. Two years ago at a camp, I saw Jason Tsirtsis pin Tom Brands in a leg cradle.
  12. My guess is he follows Donny to Michigan.
  13. Hoosier Heritage Conference @ Pendleton Heights - 8:30am Yorktown New Palestine Greenfield Pendleton Heights Shelbyville Rushville Mount Vernon Delta Should be tough this year
  14. videos here: http://mmaint.com/strikeforce-rockhold-jardine-livestream.html
  15. Perry is solid top to bottom. I don't think they'll get beat this year. The problem in beating Perry in a dual is their marginal guys wrestle very well and they do not make a lot of mistakes. Anyone who has been watching the Perry program rise to their current position in Indiana, couldn't help but notice the unbelievable job the coaching staff does at developing the inexperienced or less-talented guys in to solid, and serviceable wrestlers. This is the mark of a great program and great coaching. In a "studs vs studs" match-up, this team is beatable. But, in most cases, their marginal guys are better than yours. In a lot of ways it comes down to the ability to motivate and make OK kids good, more than making good kids great.
  16. I love signature singlets. Those are awesome they should wear those or something similar forever!
  17. Not everybody packs the right kind of gear to be a wrestler.
  18. That's ridiculous. I would have been super pissed.

  20. Not every kid is going to be explosive from the bottom no matter how much you preach it. IMO bottom is about attitude, mastering about 6 or 7 skills/positions, and learning to string them together to create space. What you should be looking for are chains ( combinations ) to get hip separation and a neutral angle in your back. As a side note, I'm one of those coaches who is not overly concerned with hand control on stand-ups. In short, I think it's important to teach a lot of bottom wrestling. Folkstyle is a pretty simple equation: If you can't get taken down, and you can't be ridden, you can't lose. In other words, if you maintain solid neutral position, handfight well, and wrestle smart on your feet; and you cannot be ridden easily, you'll have a chance to win every single match.
