  1. I guess the elbow was during the clinch as Andrew was breaking the hold? I don't know a whole lot about freestyle now that I've been away from that type of wrestling for about 20 years now. I think the argument from the Meade corner was just to argue the call not so much arguing among the wrestlers. Can any one confirm? I don't know either wrestler but Meade seemed to wish Andrew good luck at the end of the match. I know Andrew has carried himself well since we all started watching him his frosh year in highschool. It seemed to me that both wrestlers held their composure pretty well.
  2. Sitting in a tree stand or duck blind at dawn, seeing the mats on the floor at conceco, seeing a perfect lateral drop, bass fishing, Hooters hot wings, beer, Turoni's pizza, grilling on my back porch listening to the cardnals on the radio and drinking a beer. Besides my wife and my son those are my favorites.
  3. Coach Brown, I'm not quite following, I think I agree with your statemnet, do you disagree w/ one of mine? I would be in the crowd that believes parents being involved is a major factor in weather or not a kid does well in the classroom, however where ever a kid is at I feel that if he or she is an honor student taking either advansed classes or what I would consider core classes then great. If a kid has to work to get the grade then he deserves a pat on the back. My beef in this department, and I think you feel the same way, is a kid that isn't giving what he can in a lower class and could apply their selves and get a B in a more advanced class. Kind of like the kids that walk the track in gym class just because their too lazy to run, they know all they have to do is walk to get the grade but could run and make themselves better I think some kids in a genral math class just don't want to do much and are capable of a highschool level algebra class. I think you see what I'm saying.
  4. I really wouldn't advertise what you're posting on here right now. In my opinion you're already a case to be looked at by IHSAA.
  5. I'll second that, I'd say the percentage of kids that get academic scholarships far outweigh athletic scholarships. Hit the books then hit the mat, if you get a full ride somewhere for wrestling great! go for it but if something gets screwed up like an injury or a freak loss at semi-state man you're out of luck. A lot more money is "made" in the class room than on the mat. I love wrestling but there's more to life.
  6. I have to add this...The Delphi fans were VERY nice people who were gracious and terrific sports. They have every right to be extremely proud of their team! They wrestled Castle like men possessed. I can say the same of the Belmont fans I talked to also. For that fact everyone I talked to was great and welcomed the new teams to the Big Show. I've found the same thing about the Bellmont fans, I know most of the state hates us but I find MD and Bellmont fans have a lot in common. Their programs seem to mirror each other minus the team sucses ain the last decade but Bellmont could change that they're usually at team state and put them selves in a position to win every year.
  7. Well' not usually I'm just saying it wasn't a cake walk either. I know that Suturday was exciting, most people are looking at the semi-finals for this year, so we had 2 real close matches, well, I'd say we had two or three real close matches in most of the state finals in the past, it just wasn't in the semis. BUT..... I have seen some boring team states as well.
  8. I disagree MD had some real battles in the late 90's the 97 team had a hell of a quarter final match W/ Carmel and a couple of years later it was MD and Hobart in a NAIL BITER. The MD Mishawaka matches the last 2 years were pretty competitive. Maybe the brackets were a little lopsided in the past but still great competition.
  9. I've been wanting to see this match I got home just in time to see him get his medal when is the replay going to be up?
  10. boiler, hell I would it'd be the only advantage you'd have man that dude is HUGE!
  11. Wish they'd let us see the celebration
  12. Who has Jason lost to this year? I figured Cash would win this one, really sorry I missed this match!
  13. Well Nick, I know you?ve got a soft spot for the '96 team and it was an awesome lineup, how many went to state that year 13? That was impressive, I can remember semi-state that year and during the ticket round I couldn't believe my eyes! Now as for the 03 team with 4 state champs and one runner-up if I remember right that's hard to beat. If you had the line ups side by side I'd be able to at least make an informed guess. Needless to say both were outstanding years for MD I'm not sure we'll see another squad like them, but we all thought that after the '96 team too. Nice to hear from you. Maximus, I think you need to pipe down a bit, Mayorna's got a point, even in the early 90's when Team state was a dream MD wrestlers and fans were more than confident of a top 5 finish year in and year out in a team format. When they announced the team state we all thought "This is our bread a butter" so yes, it is a disappointment not to be at state.
  14. JonH, If Mayorna is who I think he is he's got the credintials to back it up, and if he's who I think he is he can probably figure out who I am as well!
  15. Irishman, coming from another MD fan, You are an IDIOT! Please don't get on here and make the rest of our fanbase look as stupid as you. I'm not saying the bird wasn't fliped by some fans on the MD side, I didn't see it but I was watching the match not the crowd at that time. My only complaint about the fans on the rail was a boo or two when Sims went down for injury but I have seen MD boo for the same thing. In my opinion Sims was hurt as it showed a little more later in the match and had we all seen that a little earlier I don't think he would have been booed. Castle wrestlers, coaches, parents and fans..... GOOD LUCK! WIN STATE!
  16. Good luck to the Knights, I'm a Mater Dei fan and it's hard to take a loss but you guys wrestled your butt's off. My hat's off to you. Now go win STATE!!
  17. Any one intrested in texting the match to me and I will post results on the bord? Please send me a PM if you are intrested. I'm trying to talk the wife into going but don't think I'll be winning that match! GOOD LUCK WILDCATS!
  18. Alex Tsirtsus (sp) and Blake Maurer were on the Dapper Dan team in the same year. I believe both of them won.
  19. Well now what? Can they still wrestle on Sat. if they don't have school on Fri?
  20. That's all that needs to be said.
  21. Will Hill had a huge fan base from EMD especially after beating James Brimm of Evansville Central in (I believe) 95 state championship semifinals. I ended up meeting his cousin who went to USI a year later pretty cool dude.
  22. Thank you to evryone involved with this I really apreciate it.
