  1. I think the state finals attendance is partially due to the economy but the sport as a whole has been loosing fans and fan interest. Attendance for dual meets have steadily been declining for several years now.
  2. One freshman I would throw on the list would be Isiah Bradley at 119 from Muncie South and one sophomore I would inlcude (if he was at any other SS he would be wrestling this weekend) Faroute at 135.
  3. I can remember it like it I can remember what I had for dinner 2 1/2 weeks ago.....(I don't remember what I had last night) I was thinking it was at New Castle. I guess this is how stories change over time...haha. I was thinking they started neutral and at the whistle Magiera took a shot and Richmond just jumped around behind and got the take down. One of the most amazing state finals I ever saw.........I think...haha.
  4. It really should be no surprise because they were all 4th place regional finishers with a couple of 3rd's and 1 2nd I believe. I think the fact would weigh more heavily on that than an extra match.
  5. Unfortunately you are probably right. But that is what is wrong about our state vs. a lot of others. Other states realize wrestling is NOT basketball and is treated accordingly. Our powers to be have no clue what this GREAT sport needs. Y2 probalby knows but how many other "wrestling states" have wrestle backs in their tournament?
  6. Are there any attendance records available that would support that the IHSAA is really making more money since the advent of advancing 4 out of regional. Just curious, if they are making additional money, how much is it actually? Just looking around the arena it does not appear to have made much of an inpact on the overall attendance. Has it been 2 years now that 4 have advance out of regional?
  7. I think I heard that he pinned everyone his senior year except 1 person. Not sure if that is true but he was totally amazing.
  8. I am not saying you are but that is just STUPID. Take a look at 135 coming out of Jay County Regional, Hiestand wins, Faroute gets 2nd. Faroute draws into Norton, arguably (and proven) the best kid at SS. Faroute loses in OT, it is easy to argue that we (our state tournament as it is set up today) leaves one of the best 135 lbrs behind. Faroute beat Hiestand at Team Regional, what if he had won at Individual regional, then it is Hiestand vs. Norton to advance. This is a perfect example for wrestle backs.....along with many others.
  9. I guarnatee you that we (our state tournament as it is currently ran) are leaving better wrestlers behind by not having wrestle backs at SS than we would be by leaving the 4th best kid home at each regional. The goal is to get the 4 best kids out of each SS to wrestle at STATE. Not, lets see how many better kids will be left behind by bad luck draws at SS.
  10. I don't disagree that it is unlikely a takedown will happen but it can happen, as I posted earlier on this topic, I am pretty sure Oliver Richmond scored a takedown in the state finals with 2 seconds left, starting in the neutral position. Can someone confirm the Oliver Richmond situation, I am really curious. Thank you.
  11. WOW, well done. Who would not want to see this. With no extra matches at SS Indiana could strengthen to State Finals tournament by improving the odds on getting the BEST kids there to begin with. Where do we vote????
  12. Not diagreeing with you, I said it reminded me of that situation, the celebration started with time on the clock and Metcalf went after him. Point is Caldwell quit wrestling with time on the clock similar to the situation Saturday at SS. One quit to celebrate the the other quit for the opposite reason. Both cases the othe wrester went after them.....
  13. NO, the classless act came from the kid who took off his headgear and walked away DURING the match. Any competitve wrestler should have done what the Garrett kid did. It reminded me of last years NCAA finals when Darrion Caldwell (NC State) defeated Brent Metcalf (Iowa), Caldwell started to celabrate with a flip as the clock ran down and Metcalf tried to tackle him almost mid air. Don't pull that crap with time of the clock no matter if you are winning or loosing.
  14. Thinking back a few years at the STATE FINALS I believe it was Oliver Richmond got a takedown with less that 2 seconds left to win the TITLE. I cannot believe somone would just quit.
  15. I think Taylor Scott bumped up and BEAT Biberstine. Prior to his loss in the finals to D. Scott I think he lost to someone down south in a tournament but I am not 100% sure.
  16. LOL........Adolf Caprino............"JOE STALIN"..........Joe KIM JONG II.......Jose Castro Caprino...............or the United States WAY President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Board Pretty much says it all. The Golden Rule..........He who has the Gold Rules Thank you Y2 for this board, I appreciate and enjoy it much....
  17. I would reference the 189 lb weight class as one of most equally competitive but definately not one of the toughest.
  18. LOL, I have heard many people from Bluffton same the same thing about you.....they had NO idea you were even coaching.....LOL.....JK. Keep up the good work. I am surprised I have not seen because of the great pay.................ALL coaches are much appreciated, the time and dedication you have spent on our kids is unmeasurable... THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH......
  19. Y2 - here is your quote. Even though the thread is not labeled "class wrestling" it is, what it is. Please LOCK this and lets focus on TOMORROW.
  20. If Yorktown's 4 extra wrestlers are named D. Jackson, D. Bevan, A. Hiestand and R. Janney then I would say, YES that could be why. Now If Garrett had these 4 extra wretlers maybe the cards would be turned. ;D...but we will never know.
  21. I have to laugh, I normally don't pay any attention to COOL POINTS but Duck has almost as many Negative points as he does posts. Nothing against him I just find it funny ;D
  22. AJ - our prayers go out to Isaiah and his family, loosing personal property that CAN NOT be replaces is tough and watching the place you call home in danger of burning is very tramatic. Send me a PM or e-mail if there ANYTHING we can do ..... Glad to hear everyone is safe.
  23. Requires age verification and accepts major credit cards..... ;
  24. I remember seeing a thread about sucessful people who wrestled. Lets hear about Indiana wrestlers who went on to some neat or sucessful ventures after wrestling. Not interested in wrestling careers after high shcool, but life experiences. Doctors, entrepneurs, humanitarian work, etc...anything that is worth noting.
  25. I watched the Duke vs. Timmerman match and Duke did not dominate him. There was a scramble situation and Duke ended up on top for a five point move (if I remember correctly). I am not saying anything bad against Duke but it was a match that could go either way. Best of luck to both of them.
