Maybe the drop in attendance is due to the fact that there is a lot more to do in 2017 than there was in 1984. People have more entertainment options. The same can be said for wrestling participation. In the 80's and 90's, kids joined high school sports teams because that was what you did. If you weren't varsity, you participated on the jv and were still part of a team. Now, if you aren't varsity, you have a lot of options (internet, video games, etc.) to occupy your time that doesn't include being someone's back up. In an instant gratification/5 second highlight society, this shouldn't be that difficult to understand.

He started at Tri-West. And had less than 10 kids on the team. But he did have a state qualifier both years he was there. No offense taken...

Dr. Cooper got his Ph.D. from Indiana University in Sport Marketing and was a college professor for 9 years where he established a line of research in the area of branding and social media marketing.
 

I think he went to Lassen JC, then went to Central Oklahoma (DII). Placed 2nd and 7th at DII Nationals.

Hudkins beat McGhee 2-1 tb to advance to the 3/4 match. NCAA qualifier as a true freshman.

Very tough day as a former athlete and a dad. Seeing your son experience a pain you can only console and not remove is heartbreaking. Especially when it's a 14yr old who's defied the odds all season, but fell a little short today. Yes, the equivalent of salt in the wounds is seeing athletes who your wrestler has beaten advance.......but as dads, if we can boast in the glory of our children's success......then we better be humble enough to not run from the reality of small failures.
With that said......The Allred's want to congratulate the Mazero family and specifically Joe for being the better wrestler today. Good luck at the Finals and continue to make your great Hamilton Southeastern program proud young man.
We also want to congratulate Jake Ruberg for bouncing back in a big way this week.
