Good job Kaden Suter for making it a second year in a row, and congrats to Jacob Underwood for making it for the first time. Good showing Martinsville!!
For the second year in a row I had a season ending shoulder injury that required surgery, a total of 13 anchors in my left shoulder=[ but hopefully will be getting back on the mat and in the lineup next year!!
Four Martinsville wrestlers from last years graduation class are in the service Briar Runyan is at West Point Prep, Jordan Krulik is at Navy Prep (kind of ironic two kids from the same team going to Arch Rival schools) T.C Frederick joined the Army just finished up basic at Fort Jackson, and Caleb Purtlebaugh is enlisting. And can't forget Daniel Young who is at West Point too.
Im gonna go with Kuhn too. Also, the #9 Fisher Vs. #3 Gregory match is going to be exciting.
And last years 160lbs semi-finals combined with the 4 wrestlers were 168-0.
How about Martinsville, they have a sophmore class that can do great things. It started back with Runyan and Krulik. Also, theres some tough Middle schoolers coming up. And another Runyan is on his way, he's in 5th grade right now=]
Kaden Suter, sophmore from Martinsville. Knocked off the #11 kid and from what i heard he wrestled great all day. Good Job Martinsville continue building a great program!
Way to go Fisher and Suter from Martinsville! Fisher now has Malloy, lets revenge that loss earlier this year! And Congrats to the sophmore heavey Kaden Suter way to step up big and make it to state! Keep it rolling for Martinsville!!!
I disagree with parts of both. I was a former state champ and I had neither, I was not blessed with god given talent(in fact i didnt win a match for my first 3 years of wrestling) or good drill partners(my drill partner my senior year was a freshman). In my mind what it takes is a good head on your shoulders, hard work(as in putting in the time after practice during season), and ALOT of summer wrestling, and supporting parents helped me.
Runyan dislocated his shoulder in August, had surgery in September to repair a slap and labrium tear he had to have 7 anchors put into it and he is out until February maybe march. He is at the Prep School this year and since he can't wrestle he has been helping out in the room alot with the other wrestlers.
There's always some tough wrestling coming out of this area of the state. What would be some teams to watch out for? I know Martinsville beat Franklin last year at Sectionals, but they are young this year... With Bloomington North and South, Franklin, Martinsville, Avon, and some other teams I personally thing its going to be a tough area this year.
