  1. OK, I misread the first post and thought he lost the first match of the first scenario, thus interpreting his one loss as the match in which he was injured. Thank you for clarifying. I got smarter today.
  2. Right, that is why I parenthetically included before reporting. If you don't see that mat, you don't take the stat. Calling the loss a stat on the record....sorry, best I could come up with.
  3. So in summary, if (before reporting) a wrestler elects not to wrestle due to injury the loss(es) do not count against the record. Is that correct?
  4. Anyone can predict winners, top four, team scores, etc. I, however choose to predict happenings to look for at each of the 14 weight classes... 106 -- A youngster will get called for not having his shoelaces secured. They will be tied, but not taped, thus leading to controversy and outrage. 113 -- This will be the weight class were a mom confronts a coach following a tight semi-finals match. The mom will be upset that the coach didn't complain more about what she saw as poor officiating. 120 -- All will wrestle to seed in this weight class 126 -- A name will be misspelled or mistyped on the bracket sheet. Sadly, no one notices in time, and no correction will be made. 132 -- A wrestler will miss weight at this weight class 138 -- During the first round, someone will vomit during the match 145 -- A match will be lost in this class because someone won't realize it's his turn to wrestle until moments before the match. He will blame his team mates for not pulling him away from the open-faced roast beef sandwich he brought from home. 152 -- Finals headgear malfunction. New headgear is brought in to save the day 160 -- Everyone will be confused why the first round of this weight is delayed. It will be because of the overtime thriller in the pigtail round 170 -- Action here is widely ignored in the first round due to the confusion about the 160 class 182 -- Someone forgets his singlet at home and is forced to wear one a size too big. Although humiliated, the offending wrestler puts forth a great effort. 195 -- An easy name will be inadvertently mispronounced during the finals. Everyone in the crowd will be uncomfortable for a moment. 220 -- There will be some confusion about bout cards during the day. It will end up that the cards were right all along, and no one should have questioned them to begin with. 285 -- Regardless of outcome, all wrestlers in this class become great friends over the course of the day.
  5. Thanks again. Now that I read it, I remember knowing that at one time. We were pretty sure contacting Indy would be a good idea regardless. Much appreciated.
  6. Thank you for the information. I assume by the replies that means the weigh-in must occur prior to Sectional weigh-in. Is this your experience?
  7. Our conference tournament is cancelled for today, likely not going to be able to get it in at all. In this event, we will have lost the weigh-in for this weekend. With that in mind, I have a multi-level question(s). We have a guy who needed that meet to make scratch weigh-in. I don't know if the weight-management plan had him making that day (doubt it), but theoretically a guy could have that day as "the" day for him to be scheduled to make scratch. Here is what I have to ask: Does scratch weigh-in need to be made prior to Sectional weigh-in or prior to sectional seeding? Would circumstances such as our current weather situation be cause for re-evaluating (in the event that it needs to be prior to seeding)? More specifically on my second question, could we get a mid-week dual around in order to get another weigh-in for a guy who needs to make scratch? Any help is appreciated, any information that I did not look up in an old post that addressed these issues is regretted.
  8. Wow, that is splendid. You managed to pull in another movie from my all-time list.
  9. Every time I see a post whose title asks for predictions, this goes through my head: http://youtu.be/MIJJMa3y0ek
  10. I have read research that suggests holding your child back at the beginning (Kindergarten/first grade) improves his/her chances for success in nearly every aspect of school. Being a year older/not being in the youngest say quarter of your class benefits children academically, socially, and athletically. The study was done on hockey players, but based on the details (which I won't bore you with here) it seems it would apply to any sport. I understand you are probably talking about holding back going from grade 8 to 9, but I have always found the research interesting, and thought it was applicable here.
  11. C'mon that is ridiculous, they are not even in the same weight class.
  12. I am as ashamed of this error as I was when I was disqualified for puking at the Lakefest Watermelon eating contest. I was reading one post and typing mine. I am not proud of myself. But it was a typo. Wrestlemanias 3-6 are some of the most watched DVDs in my collection (my ENTIRE collection, not just my wrestling movies). If you will excuse me, I need about 45 minutes alone for some quiet self-loathing.
  13. I know it is cliche, but Flair v Savage from Wrestlemania 3 was first rate.
  14. Young v McGinley 2009 IHSAA finals...fairly boring match overall, but most exciting finish I have seen in person.
  15. Additionally, Hall wrestled Daniel Meyer (who placed third) to OT on Friday night, and was champ the following year. Deep HWT regional to say the least.
  16. I think there is a preview in the magazine...not sure which clown wrote that one, but I seem to remember reading it...
  17. So many of my favorite fictional people in the threads today...
  18. I prefer malarkey. Although tomfoolery is also nice to have in the arsenal.
  19. Vision Quest is not good in my opinion. The main character is not only unrealistic (cutting tons of weight to wrestle a guy who is clearly at least 20 pounds bigger than he) but is also unlikable (tries to cop a feel on the girl despite her lack of interest). It is a movie about wrestling, which is a rarity so I understand the emotional attachment of some...but I found it unsatisfying.
  20. I disagree with this argument. This would be true if we were determining who had the best high school career. It is certainly conceivable that someone could be say Third, Runner up, Champ, Champ and at the end of that last season have been noticeably better than someone who won four championships. Thus the first lad would be the better wrestler, while the second would have had the better career.
  21. Of all the things I have read in this thread, my favorite is how Heavy occasionally opens quotation marks that he does not close. Only happens about every 8th post or so, but every time he opens them, they remain open...I am never sure where the quote ends...and that is what makes it exciting...
