  1. Early Last Friday Morning?. One of Indiana Wrestling?s #1 Moms suffered a rare blistering brain aneurism. Mrs. Patti Sprunger, mother to Chase and Gabe Sprunger of the Wrestling community and mother to Brittany and wife to Mr. Jay Sprunger, also former South Adams Wrestling stand out as well. Patti is in an Intensive Care Unit in Fort Wayne, in Stable Condition after her last surgery late last night. Please offer your prayers to Patti as she continues to fight this battle. The Sprunger family has had and will continue to make a huge impact in Northeast Indiana Wrestling. The Sprunger?s have touched the lives of so many of you in the wrestling community. Please be with them as they deal with this time of healing. Pray For Patti!
  2. South Adams Jay County Eastbrook Park Tudor has replaced Delta Harding Union City
  3. 285: Jim West (SA) p. Jake Alexander (H) :14 Saturday November 28, 2009 at Homestead High School
  4. "PLEDGE OF THE ADULT, I realize that I am a guest of the school?s students when I attend a high school athletic event. Just as I would not do anything unbecoming to my status as an adult in the homes of my friends, I will not act in an unbecoming manner while attending school functions. It is the coach?s job to teach the players the game; and unless I would accept public criticism on how I handle my job, I should not publicly criticize a coach for the way he/she does his/her job. I realize that the game is being played for the benefit of the players and students; therefore, I should not take from them the enjoyment they receive." This Awesome Statement is at the bottom of a wrestling teams roster.... Coach Gurney.... thats a great addition that all schools should have somewhere for the parents to read!
  5. The Stardome....looks much better with wrestling mats covering the bright shinny gold basketball floor!
  6. I just want to give thanks to all current and prior military veterans serving here at home and in theater. From my grandfathers who fought in WWII to my fellow Drill Sergeants around the country, thank you for all of your efforts and hardships. So many sacrifices suffered for the American Way of Life we can never forget all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our Freedom. The Wrestling Community has a list a 1000 miles long of Service Members here are just a few I?d like to say thank you to: South Adams High School Wrestling (past 5 years): Christian Baer, USMC Nathan Twitty, USN Dustin Ehr, US Army Chase Sprunger, USAF Josh Kimberlin, US Army Caleb Moore, US Army Stephen Hirschy, USN
  7. Obviously teams that do things right are going to be the ones that have success. LaVille HS has hard working kids and coaches but have basically zero chance of having post season success because they are in the same sectional as Penn, Mishawaka, and SB Riley. Let them compete with teams of similar size and see how things shake out. Castle's coach has never complained about being in MD's regional. He just kept working until he beat them. Hmmmm? I am not complaining either.....just for the record! About being in Bellmont's Sectional.....that is....We are just going to continue to work hard also!
  8. I have never came out and said Yes to Class Wrestling, or No to Class Wrestling, there are many things I like about both ideas....I have a great problem with this statement, although We are very optimistic! and Have worked very hard to get where we are at, South Adams placed 2nd this year at our sectional, it's the first year ever we have placed 2nd....it was nice to place that high, but it sucked that this was the first year they didn't take the top two teams to team regional. Not that I don't like the current format for the team series....I think it worked out nicely in most of the state. But for the past 20 some years, (unsure about the exact numbers) Bellmont has won our Sectional, actually I think Bellmont has won our Sectional every year they have had Wrestling at Bellmont except for 2 or maybe 3 times!....We would like to think that someday, hopefully in the near future our 80+ dual meet wins in the past four years will get us a little more than a conference title....Bellmont is a 3A school......we are 1A, can we compete with Bellmont? I like to believe we can...And yes it would be a much greater feeling to win the sectional with Bellmont in attendance. There are many other Sectionals, that I know our team could win..... as a matter of fact our only 4 losses this year all came to Sectional Championship teams.... We all get it, you don't want Class Wrestling.....many don't...but what this website has done to better our sport is nothing but great. And as a believer in both ideas, I have never felt that Joe's sole purpose for this website was to push Class Wrestling in Indiana.......only to make Indiana Wrestling Better!
  9. Make sure you hand them an Indiana Mat T-Shirt when you give them the information!
  10. 2004-05 IHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals Feb. 18-19, 2005 | Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN Championship Match: Reece Humphrey (48-0) Lawrence North (12) def. Andrew Howe (47-1) Hanover Central (9), dec. 5-1.
  11. 1- Anywhere between 20-30 matches.....depending on the size of school we wrestled. 2- 3 ind tourney's and 1 super dual team tourney 3- between 20-25 kids for a Class A sized high school 4- 6th graders through 8th graders 5- We match up as many kids as we can, one time through....starting with the lightest kid to the heaviest kid, we score the first round of matches as the team score... then we match up all ot the rest of the kids we missed and then match up as many as the official will allow us too! lol sometimes there are 30+ matches in a night! We only score the first round of matches.....it wouldn't be fare to score all of them....we are one of the bigger teams in our area, so when another school has a kid wrestling 3 times in one night, only his first match counts as the team score. You can check out all of our results and information here: http://southadamswrestling.googlepages.com/s.a.w.jr-high out stats and scores are on the left.
  12. Todd Batt?......is that you? hahahahahahah, Oh I forgot, it can't be Todd Batt he doesn't go days with out food.....His dad had to post a guard on the fridge in the middle of the night! hahah
  13. #10 Tradition. Let's face it, kids from traditional wrestling dominate schools seem to carry themselves higher than those kids from non wrestling schools. Although the kids that are true competitors want to wrestle the best kids, where ever they may be from. But there are alot of kids that get nervous as soon as they find out they are wrestling a kid from a Dominate wrestling school.
  14. I think the wrestling youth is heading in the right direction.....recently I watched a 1st grader show a high schooler the proper way to duckwalk!
  15. I just love posting that picture. Thanks for the nice comments.... I agree, there are alot of schools that have it much worse....and we respond to harsh conditions by winning.... Our Basketball team can't seem to figure out our secret....they got the best of every thing.....and they still can't win. I tell them they need to quit worrying about what we're doing and focus on themselves....
  16. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
  17. If it was not for the kids.....and our school......I could/ would care less about the community.....most of them are so hypercritical, political, prejudice, and throw religion down your throat so bad you start feeling like you don't believe in anything anymore.....(Kind of sounds like the game of basketball!) That's why Wrestling is the most awesomest, bestest, greatest sport (looking to see if Y2 will correct my English) Ever! Because it's for the kids, by the kids and there is nothing nobody can say about it! Just look what we have to be proud of: The Sweetest Wrestling Room Ever! (by the way, after 5 years of this.....It is in the plans to get a new room soon, maybe next year) OH, but wait....our community is going to build a New Clock! That's a freaking beautiful Clock!!! Our kids will sure benefit from that.....
  18. Good Stuff! Been there myself.....it's great to hear about rocky teams turning into great programs, it's just gonna make Indiana Wrestling that much tougher!
  19. Very good article. I had heard of Brad Traviolia, but didn't realize that he was on the NCAA Wrestling Committee. Maybe in the near future we could get him to convince the entire committee to bring the NCAA's to Indiana! Lucas Oil Stadium Possibly....or even the Stardome might work too.
  20. Thank you! The kids seem to like them as well!
