  1. Two refs authorized to call a pin. Why is it that either ref has the authority to call "locking hands" on a wrestler, but only the "acting" official is authorized to call a pin. I think at least at the state level when two officials are present, either one should be able to call a pin when they see it. With all due respect to the officials, it takes well over 2 seconds for most of these men past their 30's to reposition themselves to the other side of the action to see a two second pin. I have seen at the free style level at regionals and above, one of the other two officials hold up their paddle when they see a pin.
  2. No body seems to remember the slam that Kral took at the begining of the match, and deluna was rewarded with a take down and near fall
  3. What about kids that are seeded at a certain weight right now, but weigh in at a different weight (up or down) Saturday morning. Are the bracket postings in stone?
  4. I saw it in person. That guy is scary deceptive on top. Great clinic on getting the hips "way" underneath on the cheap tilt for great results.
  5. Isn't Mammalenti (sorry spelling) from penn the 132 lb that pinned Manning this weekend at the LC harvest. And I thought I saw Padilla at 132 earlier.
  6. Where was Brandon Lopez from LC last weekend.
  7. No Quiroz or little Katsofarous ?
  8. Congrats to Leroy and Portage! "Oh sh##" to the rest of the competition. CP & MV really have to step it up now up north
  9. Is LN RTC only at 6pm on Wed, and what age groups are there?
  10. Seriously? What benefit would the wrestler or the school have in making any kind of commitment (verbal or otherwise) this early in the game. A schools program and coaching staff could change in three years. A wrestlers physical growth, interest, and ability in the sport could also change . Oh well, I guess I need some education. I don't think Jason T. has even committed (verbally) anywhere yet.
  11. What happened to EMD's Mangold at 130 Saturday at Semistate.
  12. Mr. Right, you said it " right". I was probably a little harsh however with my words last night, and do apologize for offending "MAMAMAC". FYI though, there were a hand full of matches last year where Sean deemed it necessary to provoke his opponent and the opposing fans (team regional against cp for one) after his decisive win. But you did hit it on the head. Mouthy, arrogant, and self centered kids encouraged by there parents just grow up to be mouthy, arrogant, self centered adults . Life is tough for all of us. Every one has pressures, goals, and emotions to deal with. Its called Life. No one (teens or adults) should be placed above anyone else, talented or not. I have been thinking of those exact kids you mentioned (Alex, Angle, & Andrew) that have set great examples for our kids. And you want to know something else, there parents are just as kind, respectful, and humble as there kids. go figure huh. Peace Out, next topic.
  13. I think Sean needs to go right to the WWF where he will feel right at home entertaining all the trailer trash red necks that get off watching ego filled, displays of poor sportsmanship like he displayed today after beating the younger Quiroz. Just once I would like to see "only" his talent, and he has lots of it, do the talking. And for Quiroz, think twice before talking to much "smack" about a two time state champ before you go and get your self thumped in front of your home crowd by him.
  14. I am a Bull Dog dad, and fan, and know how a serious flu can slow you down. I think Josh flamme has improved tremendously and has matured as a fighter as well . Maybe the results would have been different if he was healthy, maybe not. I have also known Jr. Acuna for a long time and know that he is one talented kid . I would never count him out of any match. And like Macdaddy said, I always want our team to beat the locals, but I would be the first to cheer on my region rats against any one else down state.
  15. Ok, I spoke to soon, he is did place higher last year at state (112) than other guys according to todays more recent rankings . But earlier in the season there were some guys that did place higher than him that were ranked lower. Just wondering whom he has beaten this year to be ranked 2nd.
  16. I am a huge Conner Mullins fan. I have watched this kid dominate as a youth year after year. Infact my own (state placer) kid has come up short against him a few times while they were youths. Having said that, how is he ranked 2nd in the state with out any notable wins this year. He is ranked above kids that placed higher in state last year than him. Just "aksin" with respect.
  17. What about for the team state tourney. How many qualifying weigh ins must he have for that?
  18. Wow, what a great job by the Bulldogs. Picken up bonus points where possible and preventing them like at 103, 112, & 125 as well. Lets don't forget what has happened the last, I think two of three times cp won in duals and lost at regionals against a tough Maldenaldo coached team. Maybe coach Vlink can learn how to keep his composure (team point taken for lack of mouth control) like his kids and assistant coaches did however. I mean "dude pick your battles". He's lucky it did'nt come down to a one point decision cuz I think his loyal followers in the bleachers and teamates would have eaten him alive in front of the cameras and all to see. As far as transplants..to CP "Groundhog", are you serious. You take two kids, Roach and Jason T., in what like 15 years that actually moved to CP for arguably the academic program. I mean these two studs really don't need Vlinks coaching expertise to grab a D1 scholorship, and you want to talk about "recruiting". I know for a "fact", Halsted (out with injury all season), Flamme, Shurg, Kral, Hawkins, Renn, etc. etc. all started at CP in grade school. You better have your facts right before you start throwin that " S_ _T" around. Vlink has annoyed me plenty over the years, but lets give credit where its due.
  19. Yep, no mistakin, saw it for my self. Danny stuck em in double overtime. Hard to explain it but Hawk kinda helped pinn him self in a scramble. Not to take anything away from Danny, cuz he wrestled very well, but Hawk stopped two or three times to throw up from a three day flu. Probably shouldnt have wrestled at all today.
  20. You guys are " FUNNY" , I mean REALLLLY!
  21. Chris Katsafaros is a great wrestler thats been wrestling for a long time. Im not surprised his only loss is to Jason T.. Don't be surprised if he "upsets" a lot of big names this season.
  22. Wow, thats an impressive win by Garcia being just a freshman and all. Where did this kid come from. Is he a stransfer from out of state, our just another youth stud up from the CIA program etc. Coppinger is a tough kid who had Hawkins on the ropes last year.
  23. Hey Chris from Gavit. The way you get ranked in the top 16 of the 300 potential wrestlers in the state at your weight class alone, is you have to have beaten a ranked wrestler recently, made it to state the previous year, placed in the top 5 or so at the folkstyle or freestyle state finals, or of course medaled in one of the national tourneys. Thats my understanding anyways. Having said that, just keep working hard like it sounds like you are, and all will work out fine.
  24. Not complaining, just "aksing" how mish is ranked above the number one and two team state placing teams cp and pm. I think cp went 5-0 at the Stagg tourney this weekend with 5 champs.
  25. speaking of merrillville. is Ryan Negrelli wrestling this year. thats one tough kid if he wants to make the committment
