  1. Love the fit with John Smith. Would be fun to wrestle under that legend. As for the Assistant Coaches, I think it makes a huge deal for incoming recruits but still don't think it will affect Howe. I believe he will be back in the lineup next season along with super recruit McCauley.
  2. Not sure how I made it into the lineup with such Indianamat legends....
  3. Great points. You are totally right. Don't forget Chad Mendes.
  4. Isn't McCauley going to Wisconsin next year? That's a pretty good practice partner to have. Plus Howe will be back in the room next year as well.
  5. Season 1 is tough to top with Koscheck, Leben, Sanchez, Florian. Also the BJ Penn/Jens Pulver season had a lot of good fighters too (Maynard, Lauzon, Diaz, Wiman, Gamburyon, etc.) These weight classes are just exciting. The heavyweight season was brutal, almost no action.
  6. I totally agree, but it didn't specify National Accomplishments. I thought in-state results were the only ones being evaulated.
  7. If its based on accomplishments only, wouldn't Phillips need to be higher as a 2x champ? Also wouldn't Molloy be above Sliga just because he's a state champ?

  9. Burroughs is so good on his feet that hes an ideal wrestler for international competition.
  10. No one is asking the players. They are asking other members of the message board.
  11. Looks like Eppert is going 125 and Cashe 133
  12. So cutting weight, dehydrating yourself, losing muscle, and becoming weaker physically is an advantage? I hope you aren't a personal trainer or dietician.
  13. So not cutting weight is a disadvantage? It's called a weight room. Do schools not have these anymore? It seems like people are already lining up excuses.
  14. I understand your point, but who says 126, 132, and 138 are more competitive? There are far more upperclassmen at the higher weight classes, so I would argue it's actually more competitive. It's my opinion that Sliga would be a 2x champ right now if he was at a lower weight class. I actually like the weight classes better. Maybe it keeps kids from cutting as much weight. Try bumping kids up a weight class to make room for that kid. Kids can easily put on a few pounds of muscle and maintain it throughout the season. They will probably be healthier too.
  15. Tough to go from JV to Conseco. Not saying impossible. Just don't put the cart before the horse.
  16. So how does changing the wwight classes next year solve that problem? If you had a bunch of guys between 170-220, would you be saying the same thing? Seems people want weight classes that help their team only. Look at the bigger picture.
  17. When were the new weight classes announced? 6 months ago? That's not enough time for a kid to start dropping the weight needed?
  18. No. We should be getting more kids to wrestle, not less. If the kids are only wrestling three months out of the year, who cares. Isn't the object to grow the sport? Get those football players to wrestle and you won't have any problem filling out the top part of your lineup...and your football coach will thank you next season when they are better football players because of it.
  19. It might depend on each individual kid. If the kid is involved with other sports (football, baseball, etc.). Cross-training my actually be a negative. However, if a kid is wrestling year-round, it might be beneficial to throw some other things into the mix to prevent burnout. Since you are talking about "elite" wrestlers, I don't think it would impede their success.
  20. Just look at the high caliber wrestlers going to mma lately. Hendricks, Askren, Phil Davis, Cole Konrad,Daniel Cormier, Joe Warren , Rosholt, King Mo, Tyron Woodley, Chad Mendes. (Not intended to be a comprehensive list) That's not even mentioning the countless wrestlers before them that helped pave the way.
  21. Was just going to say the same thing. Rogan is a huge proponent of wrestling. He likes to mention the toughness that comes from wrestling training and being in those battles. Plus what Drooke said, wrestlers get to dictate where the match takes place. Overall I think its great for wrestling. It gives wrestlers another outlet for their skills
  22. Why are we still complaining? It's not getting changed back this year. Deal with it.
