  1. You have to be $hitting me! That is absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever heard!
  2. What is it exactly that might possibly be causing the mville ss to last til 1 am?
  3. This might be the funniest thing I have read on this website in a long time.
  4. Intentions have nothing to do with whether something is a slam or not. Glad a kid didnt mean it or the opponent did something different than you were expecting. Rules are clear, the offensive wrestler is responsible for bringing his opponent back to the mat safely, period, end of story.
  5. He probably ought to invite other teams with larger enrollments rather than edwardsburg, enrollment 880, niles, 1100 and lakeshore, 1200, if he wants competition for his behemoth of a team.
  6. Whining about being at merrillville til one in the morning? Maybe you need to read a little more closely.
  7. Of course only merrillville people would bi%ch about wrestlebacks because of their small venue. You guys are truly unbelieveable.
  8. Zach davis of penn lost to warsaw 120 pounder.
  9. Not really a surprise they wiped the mat with everyone they wrestled, there was zero competition for them at this meet. Too many teams from michigan as well, three in total.
  10. Gotta say, pretty much of a "knob" post by charger.dad. Not sure what purpose it serves to get on a public website and call a team out and/or that team's coach. I would use the term "bush league" to descibe the post.
  11. First off, before I get hammered for what I'm about to write, understand that I envy the program Coach Harper has built over at Penn. Frankly, the vast majority of the over 300 Indiana high schools that wrestle envy this program. Now for the controversial part, they have been runnning a jv squad around Indiana for the last number of years wrestling varsity events and have yet to ascend to dominance. Very, very good but not a program that has really had a chance to go all the way. Therefore, I don't see an "empire" being built. Maybe it takes a decade of basically having two varsity teams before dominance is achieved. Somebody a whole lot smarter than me can answer that issue. Understand that I have no problem with the fact that Penn has two teams and I believe any program that can should do it. I just don't see that as being the primary reason for dominance in the sport of wrestling.
  12. You may want to consider his last name and what it can mean to a program as far as funding dollars are concerned. Money talks, my friend.
  13. Man, I was worried this thread was dying! I think the issue is being obfuscated to did busco or didn't busco tell the kid to put the water away. This truly has no bearing on the issue at hand. The question I would like answered by the "law abiders" is "would you, in the situation as presented, as an opposing coach, go to the ref and point out the breaking of the rule or would you go to the kid's coach and tell him the kid is in danger of being dq'd if he doesn't stop driking water? Frankly, once the ref was notified, he had no choice but to uphold the "letter of the law" and dq the kid. IMO, it didn't have to get that far.
  14. On a lighter note, has anyone ever seen Hungus, Fabio and Y2 in the same room? I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't the same person.
  15. i am saying that the majority of you (what ill call black and white law abiders), if faced with the situation as presented, would not run to the ref, but would talk to the kids coach, something most reasonable people would do. In so doing, you would be tacitly agreeing that applying the rule ro a kid making an honest mistake would be inapprolriate. It least i hope you would do that? Would you?
  16. I DO think the views are equally represented but my point is the "Morality Police" (of which you are a member) kinda talk out of both sides of their mouths. Honestly, if you saw a kid making a dumb mistake by taking a sip of water during weigh-ins, you'd actually go to the ref and get the kid dq'd? I really hope not Mr. Galagore. I understand rules are there not to be broken, but when push comes to shove, would you be a big enough tool to enforce the rule the way it appears it was enforced? I think not and that is my point, most individuals associated with wrestling would not. Rule or no rule.
  17. I think this thread is a good example of a topic where just about everyone agrees, whether stated or not, that common sense in the moment would prevail and the whistle blowing probably shouldnt have occurred. However, there is always a vocal minority that have to come across as always supporting the rules in a black and white way.
  18. My son is a freshman this year and he was unaware of the rule. His coach is a first year guy and a.fairly experienced wrestler and he probably knows the rule but has never stated it to the team. Good to know and thanks busco for bringing it up. I understand the rationale as well. That being said, im pretty sure the "law abiders" (mr hungus and mr y2) would probably not go to a ref in a weigh in room and point out a kid obviously making a mistake but breaking the rules nonetheless. Bet they would go to the kids coach and tell him. At least i hope thats what they would do. Sounds like the opposing coach pulled a bush league move in an effort to gain a competitive advantage. I hope busco still kicked the crap out of them.
  19. I thought they had two russian kids moving in but i havent seen any russian names in the dual results this season. Was that just bull on the site last year? I am almost sure i read it and it cracked me up.
  20. The following are just a few we hear (and sometimes say ourselves) in the stands from the fans at a wrestling match: "Short time!" - when the wrestler has 20 to 15 seconds left in a period (as if he doesn't have an internal clock in his head) "Off the whistle!" - Wrestler on bottom in the referees position being exorted to move quickly once ref blows whistle. Rarely is there an actual suggestion of a move to hit, just whatever the wrestler does, it should be done quickly. Others?

  22. I don't. That's my son's post, LOL!
