  3. Wait... did you follow a "coulda, shoulda, woulda" with a coulda??? Shame on you.... :-) JK. I wouldn't think rankings have a lot to do with this.
  4. IMO flip a coin. Heads it's Tommy Forte, tails it's Tommy Cash. Can't go wrong with either. Pepple gets a very close third. I think an honorable mention should go to Dylan Lydy. Maybe not the overall career the others had. But D** that kid was fun to watch this weekend. He almost got officiated out of a state title but pulled it off with a great blue collar effort. Maybe the definition of the "Mr. Gorilla". Congrats young man!
  5. Was a fantastic match! To say the official was very bad is being very kind
  6. If you saw that match you know it really wasn't that close. Rooks does look very good though. Very tough and a long body. I think 132 will be the most one sided of all. It wouldn't really surprise me to see Nick Lee tech or pin his way through. I think for total package he's my fav. No show boating, great sportsmanship, and just seems built proof on the mat. IMO Indiana's best ambassador for the sport. And just a Soph!!
  7. Absolutely. Of the Illinois wrestlers I know, all would prefer a single class. I think that says a lot.
  8. Okay. Then I'll bite and "go out on a limb" and just predict Cummings majors the field. JMO
  9. East Chicago Central is about 1.5-2 miles off of Cline Ave and I94. The Indiana toll road is even closer. South Shore commuter is 2-3 miles away. Just did the directions. 2.2 from toll road.
  10. The battle at 106 will be for second. This will be the most lopsided of all weight classes. Including 126. Wait and see...
  11. I have to agree they do a very good job logistically. But after 35 years, this tournament has just out grown the venue. It's just that simple. Each of the other semi state venues are far more suitable. Everyone involved needs to put PERSONAL interest aside and just do the right thing. I've heard VU(valpo university) or East Chicago( one of 5 largest venues in the US). Im not sure about VU, but East Chicago would seet 2000+ more spectators and far more convenient facilities and access.
  12. Thanks for sharing! And the IHSSA is keeping brackets from the public on trackwrestling... For what reason?
  13. I have to agree. Seemed like he just wanted to get it over with. IMO it's the VENUE that needs changed.
  14. IMO - OW of a tough as nails Calumet Regional
  15. East Chicago Sectional @113 DeLaPena #2 @Mville Rodriguez #3 @Mville C.Crary #5 @Mville
  16. I'd like to understand this better also. If you default out of a match due to injury before the match starts, that does not count as a loss?
  17. Pathetic example of officiating. Seems to be the way of things when American wrestlers reach this level. What was the ref calling when he didn't give Howe the TD? Something to do with the way Howe was keeping the Russians foot off the mat? Looked ridiculous. Just another example of how this kind of subjective bs blackens the eye of the international sport.
  18. In our opinion it has to be a quest for the opportunity to wrestle CJ. And it is an opportunity. And each match leading up is a stepping stone, and you face someone trying to deny you the opportunity. So you put a chip on your shoulder and keep it there. But fear can not be in the equation. I've most often found that what I thought was fear was actually excitement. Use that excitement to keep you on the edge mentally and physically. JMO
  19. I've gotten to see a bunch of those at RWA. Very entertaining. Tough to watch my own kids when those two are rollin
  20. Well done!! Even with a little glitch later in the morning 600+ moved right along. The IHPO has improved each year. Nothing against the Middle School wrestlers. But, not having a Middle School division this year left me with the impression that this was more about quality than quantity. I'm sure the IHPO promo crew could have scored some more $$ by including a Middle School division. But IMO this is how it's done. Thanks!!
