Lights out finals matches here as Freshman phenom Peyton Richards will go to battle w/ Jayden Owlsey and two state ranked wrestlers, #15 Zane Schreck and #9 Liam Krueger will battle for that big draw next weekend at Evansville. Don't sleep on----- Switzerland County, The Young Gunz of from Wine Country come into regionals guns ablazing..... But I still wouldn't sleep on ---- Bo Wagner, Columbus East, can he come back from a 4th place finish to Regional Champ? And don't forget - ---- The Home gym factor for Jeff, The Red Devils wrestle a tough regular season schedule and are always battle tested by state tourney time. Having Regionals at home is a huge advantage and every year an "upset" happens.... who will step up this year?

The Cold thing is exaggerated. Actually hold on, I'm 100lbs lighter this year, let me get back to you on that..... My old brittle bones can't handle the cold weather anymore, not sure how you skinny people survive.

The real question is after it's held at the Ford Center, does the IHSAA ever move it back? As my kids say "It'll be bussin'"

"Folkstyle wrestling is not Freestyle. You don't get a point for pushing your opponent off the mat. It is actually supposed to be stalling on the wrestler doing the pushing if they are not actually working for a TD." I actually got into it w some parents at Jr High match over this. An upperweight just kept pushing our girl off the mat and making zero attempts, the other coaches were doing their best drama class act and getting the stall calls. Ridiculous.

The real state finals already happens at The Ford Center, the IHSAA just does the next weekend to avoid litigation.

So for rankings we will no longer use head to head, but most significant wins at the that weight. #consistency

I reffed and a kid compete at North. It's a win win all around, good for programs, good for state. It can make state and being a state qualifier feel more special going forward. Also hats off to Jenn Ratliff for making certificates for all of the state qualifiers, not sure every regional did that. I know Madison was pumped to have 12 state qualifiers and that can be used to grow the program!
