We're dangerously close to Ohio too. But they don't even use calendars there, they could never make a decision on what to go with and the people didn't understand how to vote for their choice so the whole idea was nixed.

Why is Folk Nationals in the middle of FS season?

The "pathetic" ISWA tournament schedule is the way it is b/c clubs/coaches/parents/wrestlers quit pushing freestyle. I honestly don't think extending freestyle will do anything. Folkstyle season is a monster that has taken over youth wrestling. Blame other organizations that constantly force feed Folkstyle to the masses. The ISWA would have to make a very unpopular and financially unwise decision to scale back folksytle and invest in freestyle if freestyle were to ever gain popularity again. -

I do concur Lord Vader... I guess we are guilty b/c our Gauntlet is all 3 styles. But I'm hoping to lure in Folkstylers by offering it and then getting them to do some freestyle and greco...

Navy, unfortunately there are many people that think Freestyle is useless. The meteoric rise of Folkstyle state and steady decline of Freestyle state show that. The article is an excellent read for people who think this. Vader, what door and what time, I'll see ya Thursday.

Noob, Us that you insult are on the frontline, fighting the fight, that you are on this board arguing. I've been on this board for years sticking up for Freestyle. I've plugged Freestyle for years, I've reffed Freestyle state, I've left my wife and kids at home to take and coach other kids at Freestyle tournaments. I spend 4 nights a week coaching from 18 year olds down to 4 year olds. I have almost no open weekends from November to June. Your feelings hurt??? Take a hike........(no scarcasm intended)

I'll be watching the finals on an 8ft by 8ft HDTV with the likes of Tskin, Prepare2Win, Grenadier2012, and we are debating about letting MadTownXWrestler in, but he'll have to do a truffleshuffle and profess his love for Class Wrestling. Maybe I'll give him your number after a few rounds Y2... that could make for good times!!

To all the people stuck at work today for NCAA's. Salute to you! This was going to be my first year off during NCAA's in a long time, then snow, then the district's decision to use up the first week of Spring Break for make up days. Now it's going to be movies and trackwrestling in Mr. TripleB's room today!!!

It's excellent. The speaker left a bit to be desired, but oh well. In all seriousness if you are hosting, wrestling, or coaching freestyle make an effort to go Friday or get your hands on the PowerPoint. If not you'll be lost at the first few tourneys.

Not sure how it effects kids, but I know that Madison Wrestling runs the beer tents at Ribberfest and the coaching staff typically puts on a solid 10-15lbs in water weight after that weekend. That's not even counting the endless racks of ribs, brisket, and bbq pork chop sandwiches consumed. I did meet Fowl Butt last year, great group of bbq'ers!

I've ran an elementary school dual team for 3 years. I've never had kids cut weight, nor do they on their own as far as I know. I don't think a lot of teams cut weight, my 4 year old, 40lb son wrestled a kid that was 3 feet taller than him and had facial hair last fall in a dual.
