  1. This right here is the best argument I've heard in my short time involved with wrestling. We have the best of both worlds and I think we should stop trying to be like every other state and instead be better. Having a classed team state and non classed individual tournament is a no brainer at least as long as the two are separated. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people from other classed states say they envy our single champ per weight class system for various reasons. I don't know about you but the last way to get me to do something is because everyone else is doing it. Let Ohio have 6 195lbs. state champs. Why don't we build on what we are doing here right now and let them want to be like us. Let's not class just because everyone else is doing it, the grass isn't always greener.

    Ohio has 3 classes

  2. Must have missed one. I hope that a different team that can bring a full squad can take their place next year.

Also was wondering what happened in the Garman/Rader match. Was excited to hear about this one. Just an illegal slam I am assuming?

Head butt is what I have heard.

  3. Thanks for the snide comments, Y2.  Typical.  I see you that you failed to make such a comment when a previous poster mentioned that WC has 3-4 other ticket round returnees.  I guess those guys haven't done anything in state either.  I ask a simple question about why WC is ranked 17 spots ahead of MD and get smart ass comments back from the guy that runs the board.  Like I said, typical of you.

If you read my previous post, you would see that I said "In the big picture it doesn't mean anything."

"These are preseason rankings, without MD's replacements doing anything in-state or nationally it is hard to justify them being ranked much higher. With nine state level guys in the preseason this team could go down as one of the best in history.  As far as the national ranking, I would say you should do research on the 40 teams and you could see some similarities. If you think state rankings are hard, try doing them nationally.

This the quote that you think is snide?  You started by asking why Warren is ranked so much higher than MD and were given a clear reason.  We understand that you don't agree but objectively looking at what is returning this is a reasonable response with no snideness.  It obviously means something to some folks or we wouldn't be talking about it.

  4. AAU Wrestling hasn't been around in over 25 years.  The AAU organization had documented corruption spanning many, many years.  At least the ISWA (which is part of USAW) tries to be as open as it can, short of personally calling over 9000 wrestlers.  Sure it has made some questionable decisions, but they have always been what the Board of Directors (~30 volunteers) have felt was best for Indiana wrestling at the time.  Making changes and trying different things usually gets complaints and causes unforeseen problems.  I trust that the ISWA will continue to learn from mistakes and make improvements like it normally does.

The ISWA is club-based organization.  They send out information every month to each club's representative.  That representative is responsible for passing along the information to the club's coaches and members.  If your rep isn't doing that, then find out who it is and request that he/she share it each month.  Or better yet, become more involved in your local wrestling club's organization.

AAU isn't around anymore?  I could swear Ive seen events sponsored by AAU
