Some may still be trying to sort out where their tickets are. Joking. Well really half joking.
You’re probably right.

I have a feeling a bunch of people won’t be able to get in because the right person won’t be able to pick up their tickets.
Exactly. Such BS. How many people will miss their kid wrestle because they’re stuck in line going through will call? Is this just the controlling IHSAA trying to keep people from reselling or stub hub from buying up tickets like last year?

Any good diner’s for breakfast? No chain places.

David Maldonado always has his kids peaking at the right time.

Yep. Just watched the video. It was a barely touching, no pressure applied, scissors of the body.
You CAN straight scissor the body. You cannot figure 4 the body.

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of push outs too. Just pushing someone out isn’t looking to score.
Pushing or shooting someone out is also stalling. Both wrestlers need to make every effort so remain in bounds.

When did parents begin getting tickets? Was this during Covid year with limited seating?
-
So in the big picture the call either way didn’t affect the outcome?

Seems a standing reversal was scored then a neutral restart. So, technically they were restarted in wrong position creating bad time. Curious, which wrestler won the match?

138: new castle finals Kyrell Leavel vs Gavin whitehead
Watching the end of that match, if that isn’t a DQ in Indiana I am not sure what needs to be.
*** before any one says you don’t want to see a kids career ended like that, judging by his actions I don’t believe he cared
Agreed, maybe Mr Faulkens will watch then step in and make the proper ruling. The alternate may want to be ready.

One of the Moran brothers lost eligibility a couple of years ago for doing the same thing at one of the region schools, I believe CP.
it was both brothers transferring from CP to Portage and CP contested it. One brother was a senior so he was done. The younger brother won state the next season at Portage.

Davis by pinfall is -800
Nobody says pinfall unless they’re bowling. Has anyone ever heard Kevin Whitehead say “ winner by pinfall”? The answer is no! “Winner by Fall”

I did think about this but do we want to cut our Semi State qualifiers by 25% ? I personally would rather keep the current system and maintain the same number of SSQ if additional matches is not an option.
At least you would have to win twice at regionals to make semi state. The way it is now, if you happen to have a weight that for whatever reason is short a wrestler, one person will now be a semi state qualifier and possibly not win a match at the regional.
-
Just an observation but there always seems to be a lot of whining about “bad” draws. This system has been in place for years and years so maybe instead of whining and complaining about bad draws your kid got, you should create your “good” draw by winning the regional. Winning the regional will create a better odds of advancing, losing will put you at the mercy of the draw we all know this. This is wrestling so quit whining already and wrestle who’s on the line across from you. In a perfect world we would have wrestle backs but until then, “Just Win”!
-
Not a fan of allowing JV entries or schools having multiple kids at the same weight. However, I would be in favor of moving a 5th place finisher from the corresponding sectional into the regional in situations where the other sectional didn’t have 4 placers. This would fill the 8 man brackets and make everyone win a match to advance to semi state.

DAC was rescheduled to happen today but has been cancelled.
Should’ve wrestled last weekend minus the one team that wouldn’t travel. At least the seniors would’ve had a conference tourney.
-
I believe this falls more under ethics than penalizing the wrestler. Coaches need to be ethical enough to advise their wrestlers against this. That being said, it’s not a bad idea to move towards the college rule on injury time.

Northwest Crossroads and Greater Southshore both happened.Good for them. Nice to see someone not canceling a day early or because of a “threat” of bad weather.

The weather was soooo horrible today too ! It looks like one conference in the region wrestled today while the others were hunkered down on this cold but otherwise clear sunny day.

So kids work their butts off and make weight then don’t even get the chance to compete?
Thoughts about state tournament
in High School Wrestling

Been attending since 1982 and probably the worst state experience ever. First the ticketing issue, then the vibe of the stadium was very low key all weekend. Probably because the stadium was half empty. Lastly, it seems that if the community was backing the tourney that there would be food available on the blocks around the venue after 10 pm. On a positive note we ate at Turoni’s , Kite and Key , Gerst Haus and Peephole and all were really good. Will be glad to be back to Indy next year.
