Congrats to Coach Stateler and SV on this big win, but never count out Coach Welliever and the Mounties come sectional time. Two classy coaches that run two tough programs, and they'll push each other to make this sectional very competitive. Good luck to both!

Mortom was actually there as a full squad. Their coach had originally informed me that they would not be participating, as they were seeking another tournament with less familiar competition. He was, however, overruled byhis AD and informed that the team would be participating in the Lake County meet as well.

I agree... hats off to the Hammond Clark HS staff in general, and Calumet HS Coach Jim Wadkins as well, for running the tournament. I believe that Calumet has hosted twice, once each for Highland, Griffith and Lake Station, and the past three at Hammond Clark. I have officiated all eight, and it has gotten better each year.

As a former teacher, I can tell you that science teaching jobs are geneally in demand. My brother is a science teacher in SW Indiana, and I believe he would concur. It is, however, very difficult to predict availability, especially if our governor implements some of his educational plans regarding consolidation. Good luck!

Lake Central is indeed back in the tournament, however, I believe that Hammond Morton has dropped out. Also, the tournament is scheduled at Hammond Clark HS on January 10th, not Jan 17th. January 17th will be the Northwest Crossroads Conference Meet at Lowell and the Duneland Conference Meet at Laporte, which will include many of the same teams that participate in the Lake County Meet.

I believe that you asked "Who are your picks for champs" and I believe his pick at 152 is Holden Fudurich. After watching Holden at Mater Dei I would have to agree. He was pretty dominate in the semis and finals.

Hobart, Lake Central and Chesterton have all been in this meet in the past, but not for quite some time. I believe a Hammond school or two has been in and out as well over time. The Lake County meet came in to existence and took out some of the teams that use to participate, as it is held on the same weekend.

Lafayette Harrison, Greensburg and Roncalli have participated in recent years but are not in the tournament this time around. Wrestling will resume at 8:30 CST on Tuesday, with the finals slated for 3:00PM CST. The finals could, however, start a little earlier if things go smoothly. -
