Woman or man: if you have these credentials you're THE GOAT.
Agree to disagree.
Sarah Hildebrandt is the undisputed Indiana women's GOAT. There are levels to this. This is akin to calling Caitlyn Clark the basketball GOAT.
-
I have Parris as the GOAT even if he doesn't medal (which would be a huge upset if he doesn't come home with a medal).
- 3x state champ, 1 loss in HS
- NCAA champ, Hodge winner
- Age group world champ
- Sr world medalist
- US Olympian
Sarah Hildebrant is the women's GOAT without a doubt. But Parris is the overall GOAT at the moment. And I do suspect that Jesse Mendez's final resume will place him above Parris when its all said and done.

Matt Lee at 165 would be my pick
We haven't seen Matt Lee on a mat in quite a while. Not sure he could beat Kervin at this point.

174 - Brody Baumann
184 - DJ Washington
197 - Silas Allred
285 - Lucas Davison
Mostly our D-1 guys, but there were a couple that could be starters on that list that are already behind studs. Blubaugh and Streck would be good starters for this team if we didn't already have Allred and Davison.
Boarman over Rooks. Boarman did win the head to head match up this year.
-
Tsirtsis was very boring to watch in college. Seemed like he was always content to win 2-1 on a riding time point. I know that wasn't always that case, but I know he had many matches like that.
-
We can't claim Gable anymore that we can claim Big Bruce. Indiana is having a good run recently, but I don't think you can say that we produce the best heavyweights.
That's like saying since an Indiana guy has won 141 3 of the last 4 years that we produce the best 141's and that just isn't the case

I agree with your thought that it's a big deal for IU to get this many too. Nothing would be better for recruiting and drawing attention to the RTC than if Lee and Rooks are All-Americans and Red, Moran, Lacey, and others keep banging on the freestyle circuit.
is Red still doing freestyle? I don't recall him doing so.

Evansville Central has had its share of champions, but the most accomplished:
James Brimm--4th-3rd-6th-Champion, 1996
153-7
and/or
Destiny Garris--3X Champ--2017, 2018, 2020
Also in the mix--Anthony Williams--Champion and multiple time placer, Isaiah Kemper--all time leader in wins, 3X qualifier and placer, NCAA DII ALL AMERICAN
Brendan Kelly was way better than Williams or Kemper. He's #2 behind Brimm
-
Brands just won a national title in 2021, got 3rd in 2022 and runner up last year. Likely would have won in 2020 as well. I seriously doubt his seat is warm.
-
Boarman cracked the rankings. He's ranked 33rd at 133

EMD- High school only it would be Blake Maurer. But all around it is definitely Nick Lee
HS only, my vote is Maurer. But you could make an argument for Matt Coughlin if you include national credentials while in HS. 2-2-1-1, Fargo champ and NHSCA sr national champ.

I was confused by the Rioux being on the left hand margin but it being someone's loss, so it looked like he was undefeated at hurried glance. EMD gets 4 for that one champ.
Here is what I believe is now correct...but I'm a fallible man.
In-state losses by champs: 15
Out of state losses by champs: 12
Who beat the champs? School/wins against state champs this season
EMD: 4
CP: 4
Wyoming Sem: 4
Hobart: 2
Brownsburg 1
Lawrence North: 1
Merrillville: 1
Brownsburg: 1
Floyd Central: 1
Loyola Academy: 1
IC Catholic Prep: 1
Cardinal Gibbons: 1
Notre Dame: 1
Lake Gibson: 1
Bishop McCourt: 1
Mt. Carmel: 1
Liberty: 1
Do you think next year's champs will have more in state or more out of state losses?
Henderson also beat LaRocca, so MD should have 5
-
Nick Lee. Pretty sure he scored bonus points in every single match that he won in his 3 years in Indiana. Only two wrestlers to beat him were both ranked #1 in the nation at the time, and one is a world champ.
David McCubbins - untouchable in Indiana his last two years, really untouchable nationally as well, winning double titles at Fargo and being on a couple of greco world teams. If not for injury he cruises to a second state title in '92
Matt Coughlin - fargo champ, senior nationals champ
Andy Schneider was as dominant a hvy as I've seen
-
Coach Hawkins shouldn't care what's on a wrestling message board, nor should he call for posters to be banned.

Been waiting for this one!
As far as a beef polish yes I would say Triple B hit it on the head with Gerst house.
My pizza recommendations are as follows: Spanky's Pizza, Broadway Pizza this one is a little bit out of the way. Or Turoni's Pizza. Knowing that time is of the essence sometimes you might want to call ahead and order to go at all three places.
If you go down to Franklin Street on one of the shuttles you really should try the Pizza King stromboli it's true they are a little hit and miss at times but if you get a good one you'll know it!
My favorite Chinese restaurant is a place called Yen Ching on Green River Road I love ordering their entrees extra spicy but you better have a plan for a bathroom afterwards! I hear China Bistro is good but I've never been there.
The Hilltop Inn is Good Ol' Tavern food! Plenty of fried Delicacies to be had!
If you are of age and are looking to have some fun after finals the casino is obviously nearby and there are several bars that stay open late on Franklin Street my favorite of these is called the Sportsman's not a lot of Flash but plenty of pool tables if that's your thing.
If you're looking for flash try Chasers or buds bar also on Franklin. Bud's has a loaded nachos platter that is out of this world!
If you brought your wallet and you went a good steak you can try Cavanaugh's in the casino District or you can try Cork and cleaver I would suggest reservations on both.
If you are willing to Brave going to the outskirts of Evansville there are a few bars and taverns that get my nod as well but if you're really interested in those let me know and I'll send you that way.
Good recommendation, but it is Parkway Pizza, not Broadway. It is on Broadway ave.
Angelo's on Main is good Italian. Zuki on main if you want hibachi/sushi. Sauced in the Hainey's corner area is excellent. Kite and Key on Franklin for breakfast is awesome, but get there early. Or pick up Donut Bank if you are in a hurry.

How did this match go down at team state. I know Henderson got a late pin, but what was the score at that point? Who seemed to be controlling the action?

Don't see the SuperBowl coming back to Indy any time soon. They are already scheduled through at least 2027 and with some new stadiums popping up (Nashville) they will get to host before Indy does.
