  1. My opinion based on my observations - Academies are not some secret ingredient to that sausage. Don’t let anyone tell you it is. The secret ingredient is the extra practice outside of regular school practice. Working on technic in small groups. Getting better at your craft. This can be done by your school or club coaches. Take Drake Buchanan. Started wrestling in elementary school. Between Contenders, CIA and Red Cobra he has attended less than 25 sessions in all those years. Most of those being practices for Duals teams he was asked to be on. It was the HS and club coaches spending time with Drake and 2-3 of his teammates in small groups teaching new technics and breaking back habits. Over and over and over again. Did you know Drake is a righty? Where did that wicked left leg lead and attack come from. It came from a HS coach seeing that he was able to attack to the left and a summer of “Do it again! Do it again! Hand cupped! Move it down! Again!” After the “Summer of love”. Drake went into 8th grade with a left leg lead. That is impact. The extra time in small groups. A room packed with kids and 2-3 coaches can’t make that impact. You don’t need “Great” wrestling partners every day. No question it helps. You can to go live at a live night or a tournament to see what works and what needs fixed. Then spend the time fixing it. Why go to another all day Saturday open when you would improve more with 2 hours of technic training. Sure it helps to have “Great” partners. Lots of things help. But doing something wrong over and over again against a “Great” partner doesn’t make it better. Now I admit, getting the coach and the 2-3 other wrestling partners that want to get better is another conversation. But it is the time spent on technic, actively getting better that is the key to improving. As I said In my opinion.
  2. I would be curious to see what the break down looks like with the highest scoring team removed from each semi state’s count.
  3. How do you buy advanced tickets. Ford Center website doesn’t show any? Thanks
  4. Semi state information post at top of page. For me it’s above the “Hammers” ad.
  5. Ooohhhh….. I like it. Drama, tension, gargantuan collisions !!!!! that’s why the Indiana state wrestling tournament is so great!
  6. I think it is quite probable that the bloodbath at the Evansville Semi state will hand the state title to Crown Point with a pretty bow on it.
  7. Henry did a great job pushing the pace once he smelled blood at end of 2nd. Might be be finals match next week.
  8. Based on this they are listing time changes.
  9. Moorseville Regional. CG stream https://www.ihsaatv.org/CGSportsNetwork/
  10. Agree, need the wrestler’s family down close.
  11. One option for viewing Mooresville Regional https://www.ihsaatv.org/CGSportsNetwork/ Was free last week. Peterman Plumbing and Heating sponsored it.
  12. At Moorseville Sectional Center Grove had a free broadcast with commentary on the ISHAA site. Figure they’d do same for regional.
  13. Yes, started offering an early weigh in option like many national level tournaments do. (Super 32, Grand River Rumble, etc.) a few years ago. Sunday morning is regular weigh in time and obviously costs nothing extra.
  14. Automatically rolled over. They are all already in the track system. You should see all rolled over registered athletes under the Wrestler tab in the event screen. “Registration” is only showing new registrations.
  15. Don’t let the Matrix number fool you. With the 445 moved over from qualifier registrations there is currently over 700 registered Middle School State. Come get some great wrestling in. Finals will be done early enough to grab dinner afterwards. 14 full mats makes the day go fast ! https://www.trackwrestling.com/opentournaments/MainFrame.jsp?newSession=false&TIM=1643288769018&pageName=%2Fopentournaments%2FViewerInformation.jsp&twSessionId=wjktigooly
  16. Very true ! The drama of our State tourney is created by its flaw….no wrestle backs. Can’t do much about overloaded regionals or semi states. I was talking to a golf dad. They were something like 5th best in state but couldn’t make the state finals bc they they couldn’t make the cut in their semi state. It happens in every sport.
  17. Almost a third of the ranked 182’s are at Evansville 10 of the 106 a third of 113 etc. Evansville SS blood round is going to be….Awesome !
  18. If you don’t join a conference and are really good….then schools don’t want to schedule you. “Oh, sorry…those dates are for conference games….” And if your school won’t let you travel like Cathedral does…. Then you are screwed….
  19. I just looked. There are hardly any scores. How are we to build fans and excitement if no one can see what’s happening. It’s like baseball with no box score. Now I’m the first to say I don’t have to enter anything. Is it really that hard? Love to hear from some coaches or mangers that do this stuff.
  20. How many basketball courts can it hold…X2 would be a comfortable guess.
  21. #1 - Get as many wrestling coaches as possible on football coaching staffs. One of the area middle schools have a wrestling coach on the football staff (Although he finds it hard to teach anyone to “play”. Not in a wrestlers nature.). Numbers went from around 20 to around 50…..
  22. Make list of 15-20 programs your wrestler is looking at. Follow these parameters to narrow down the field. 1 -Which programs am I interested in 2- Which of those programs can I wrestle at 3- Which of those have the academic programs I am looking for ( let’s face it, wrestle for 4 years, have a career for 40.) I would argue that #3 should be #1.
