The semi finals will be the best matches I'm sure. Wells beat McCammon earlier in season, but lost to Meiring, McCammon beat Meiring at Sectionals, but didn't see the match. And I think McCammon beat Jordan as well. Was it a tough one, Meiring/McCammon, or by a mile? I could see a lot of 138's going either way.

I don’t recall southern wells beating McCammon, however McCammon did beat Meiring twice this season. The scores were both close however McCammon handled the match both times. I wouldn’t be surprised if McCammon beats Wells. Those Semis will be super fun.

Colt Rutter vs William Fiechter in the championship- who takes the title?

If those two make it to the finals. The majority of the weight class looks like tough competition with McCammon, Wells, Meiring, and Jordan.

Don’t count McCammon out, he’s unranked however he might give Fiechter a tough Semi. I have my money on Colt by bonus points against anyone he wrestles this weekend

Thought it had to be compression type...Jay County wears basketball style MMA shorts.

First thing my son said was he was going to get his finger stuck.

It states “shorts designed for wrestling” which would include the fight shorts

At 160 Duncan dominated west before pinning him  in the 2nd period and he was under the weather for that match

Wouldn’t be too confident, I’ve seen bigger upsets throughout the state tournament. Will be a great day of wrestling no matter the outcome.

takeaways are that 106 from Harrison is the real deal. Very solid.

Young from Muncie Central is lightening quick.

Crider man handles everyone he wrestles it’s almost not fair with his size.

    Great day of wrestling!

Exactly, singlets are FOR wrestling. Sometimes we confuse change with progress. JMO

In this sense, this change is progress. It’s progress in trying to up the participation and widening the comfort zone. Whether it’s liked or not, times are changing and in order to keep up, things such as the two-piece are introduced in order to progress our sport. Just my 2 cents

Congrats to Yorktown on taking the team title for the second year in a row!!! The Tigers came in forfeiting three weights and still managed to win! And kuddos to the Yorktown coaches for always having their wrestlers on weight and ready to go for this tough tournament! Our kids wrestle at Team State as well and we don't come in missing weight, injured, or sick. They stick with the program and are disciplined to come out and compete no matter what the circumstances are! Way to go Tigers!!

Great job to the tigers this weekend however I’m hoping this isn’t a shot at those kids who were too sick to wrestle at this tournament. “Discipline” doesn’t stop the flu from draining your body energy and nutrients. Hope they recover and are healthy enough to wrestle soon.

  10. I can see Young from Muncie Central rolling through 145. Great weight class, however talented ticket rounder is looking great this year.  At 160 I can see Winner putting on a strong showing. 195 could be a great final but see Pease winning.

  11. DelCo, I wonder if you might be able to post the studies you refer to. I've not found any clear cut evidence in my pubmed search in either direction on this point. There seems to be a paucity of data on a before and after comparison of actually undergoing the transition, but it is clear that a non-transitioned transgender youth has very high suicide rates compared to the general population, which is obviously expected.

At the moment I am unable to recover the articles with the statistics. However I remember vaguely that CNN and The Daily Beast have articles over it. I'll post if I can find

  12. I really wish I hadn't stepped into this conversation. And I'm not going to go on more about this. One reason I like this site is because it's about wrestling - not social issues. But, having said that - studies I have read show that the suicide rate actually increases after a transgender person "transitions".

That is false. Recent studies have shown the suicide rate has tremendously been reduced with a correlation to being accepted/being able to transition. So no, they don't become more depressed when able to live their life like they want.
