  1. I could be wrong, but I believe some high school sports in Minnesota allow 6th through 12 to compete together. My mom's former hoops teammate in college coached the Minnesota women's team. I believe on of her players profiles it mentioned she had lettered on the varsity program from 6th to 12th grade at her school.
  2. 105 115 125 130 135 140 145 155 165 175 185 195 220 255 290 Could change some of these depending on the trends of forfeits and how many are logged jammed in one weight class.
  3. I'd rather see a limit still. I know some OL/DL can be bigger, but I'm not a fan of that as a football guy even. I'll take the smaller, quicker, athletic OL/DL than the 300lb one. I hope the rest of football for high school age would get in line with that. Many of those college and pro OL/DL end up loosing a bunch of weight or go the wrong direction. They will have more years of life after wrestling and football, which I think the limit would help.
  4. Add another weight class between 220 and HWT to give 15 classes so that "normally" number of matches won would be the only tiebreaker needed. Make HWT just be 290 with no allowances and have the added class be 255.
  5. I think Adams and Wells Counties are in the right direction with the Rivals League Night and then having team dual and individual tournaments to attend as well. Not sure if any of the 6 plus Jay County will ever see the results of some schools since we have 2 to 3 sport athletes and farm kids.
  6. They probably cut across to 69 instead of going down 65 because someone here told the NE contingent to drive 65 instead of 69. Psychology got the best of the northern half last weekend.
  7. I'd be curious how things would look if there were 4 sports seasons for the IHSAA. Baseball moving to a summer season and wrestling being a spring season sport in that scenario. It seems that middle school teams get a bunch more kids coming out in our programs with this scenario. I know the better athletes in middle school played football, basketball, wrestling, and then baseball. How many do we lose to the roundball/swimming and etc with only having the 3 seasons? I'm not sure they will be podium wrestlers, but some could besides just giving depth. Logan Macklin started out playing basketball last season and came back to wrestling. He ended up 5th at 145 this season. Just a random thought to ponder.
  8. Remember also that the area has many 1A and 2A schools with 3 sport athletes. I'll take team success over individual. If individual happens that's even better. Don't forget our Adams County and surrounding areas are rural farming communities. Hay and straw have to be baled and livestock tended. Plus we also have a ton of residents who only go to 8th grade and don't go to our schools.
  9. Thinking so, but I've saw so many different instances in different sports & ages I could easily mix one up for another at this point.
  10. The "pinned" wrestler ended up on top so it was super fast. May not be a thing but doesn't mean it wasn't called incorrectly then.
  11. Shades of when a Bellmont wrestler was ruled to pin himself at Jay County some years back. "Touch" pin was the decision that day.
  12. Beat me to the punch. They all have a shot, but those semis have deterred most. They have a shot to represent well though.
  13. Good luck to all Adams, Wells, East Allen, Jay, and Blackford County (if any) wrestlers at the State Finals! Awesome accomplishment to make the state finals.
  14. You mean the IHSAA hasn't tried to ask for more $ by using StubHub to make you pay for certain seats yet? It's only a matter of time then.
  15. Is this a free stream or do you have to pay?
  16. Would have been interesting if Curtis had finished that single leg.
  17. What is funny is that the Berne Witness broadcasts only South Adams and Adams Central sports. WZBD's wrestling coverage is basically Bellmont coverage with a few notes on SA or AC unless there isn't a Bellmont wrestler. Why I asked if there was a way the two media outlets could team up. There are 3 schools in this county plus WZBD has filled in with the demise of WNUY for Wells County. Really surprised the DDD hasn't created a webcast for Bellmont sports. Also wonder why the Bellmont student radio station hasn't decided to cover different Bellmont athletic events as well. Any idea if the Bluffton News Banner will get a webcast for Wells County sports?
  18. Has there ever been talk of WZBD and The Berne Witness teaming up together? Can you do radio and webcast simultaneously (audio from the radio call being applied to channel of webcast)?
  19. Why I like how The Berne Witness shows all 4 mats of wrestling. It would be cool if they could use the 2 channels to broadcast 2 mats on each channel while showing all 4 on each channel. However, that is not feasible at this time. They do an excellent job covering sports for our community.
  20. I hope that is the case because it was disgraceful to watch regardless what team you pull for or are neutral. Have to say Lizak handled it better than I probably would have.
  21. After watching DeSanto vs Lizak, I really hope Lizak gets better and turns the table on him. If I was coaching him, I would have pulled him off the mat and benched him for a couple matches regardless of how talented he is. Usually the only way those types get the message.
  22. That was one of many great matches. I was surprised AC won without a closer margin with not having 106 or 113 today. 7 different schools with a champion was great to see as well.
