  1. CBLG Fieldhouse in place of MSA. Rolls off the tongue.
  2. It's time we recruit Michigan & Ohio to match those Illinois & Kentucky kids. St Paris Graham can send a few up our way.
  3. Just call it the Adams County Athletic Conference in football
  4. Random question for fellow ACAC fans. How did you follow the tournament if you weren't in person? I listened to the radio and am just conditioned to how it will go. My wife isn't and was not impressed and confused. No Bellmont isn't in the ACAC I confirmed for her. Her comments (not mine): "Webcast is so much easier to understand, even when I'm not in front of the tv."
  5. The IHSAA football 1A to 3A was a joke to exit at LOS. Entrance to the 1A game wasn't great either. In that regard have the tickets be purchased from the school or online with a code from the schools playing. Have those as reserved seats and let those fans in earlier. Leave the other neutral fans in later and have certain seats for them. Same thing with events at Gainbridge. Parents & siblings of participants should have reserved seating (floor even). Wait until each match in the weight class is over before moving to the next. Really recognize those kids besides the parade. Start Friday morning or at least mid-day and make it last all day. Heck do 2 rounds on Friday if time permits. Then work semis & consolations to the finals on Saturday.
  6. Haggard, Sefton, Hirschy, & Zelt High School Wrestling Weekly. H,S,H,& Z is a local funeral home.
  7. Would it be better if the entire sport was no longer under the IHSAA & just purely under the IHSWCA?
  8. You can get Adams County wrestling fans riled up on the WZBD coverage.
  9. Such a shame. The Berne Witness and others do a better job than Track/Flo and most IHSAA broadcasts. Team state and individual rounds would have been nice through TBW.
  10. Keeping the local audience tuned in from start to finish by starting with 4A. If not most AC & Bellmont fans would probably stop as they have little interest for 3&4A.
  11. Also like it for the wrestling only wrestlers. Put Greco and/or Freestyle in the winter. If you put just one of those 2 in the winter the other can be summer/fall. Probably fall out of those 2 options.
  12. Late winter to early spring in the OP. Most of the time those spring games are postponed or are just purely miserably cold games.
  13. All for it if high schools move the current spring sports to summer (baseball, track, and etc). Think it would benefit baseball as it could reduce arm use by eliminating club baseball in summer. Especially if they play spring, summer, & fall baseball.
  14. Well it's not an individual sport. It's a team sport that has individual competitions as well. Tennis has team and individual aspects as well as cross country and swimming to name a few. The IHSAA like the OHSAA and others are stuck in the 80s. Time for change! However those we go to do not voice our opinions. It's the good old boys & girls clubs representing those organizations and our links to them.
  15. The single class version. This would fit along with their other classed team sport tournaments.
  16. When will the format change from an invite to an actual tournament? This is like the current College Football Playoff discussion. Better than its predecessor, but a better option is lurking. Let the matches on the mats determine the state championships. Not meaning this against the IHSWCA, but more towards the IHSAA. So much the IHSAA could do better in most sports yet they continue to not represent what their constituents want.
  17. Yes let them earn it head to head. I think filling 11 is a bit much. I'd say 7 or 8 have to be filled since that is half of the classes or one over.
  18. Should be determined with 1 vs 4 & 2 vs 3 finishers, but which 4s vs 1s 2s vs 3s by ranking from the season.
  19. Wrestle backs for every step of the single class individual tournament. Adopt the IHSWCA classed team dual tournament and convert it to the IHSAA football tournament set up for teams filling 7+ weight classes. Add in a classed individual tournament as well. Use the month of March like other winter sports have.
  20. Side note, how many mats could Lucas Oil hold?
  21. Good responses in this thread. I'll hit on a couple of things. Yes youth wrestling is where it begins and usually ends with some. I've helped in my stepson's club in Ohio for a few years. This year I was put in charge of coaching. I feel very under qualified as the former head moved on and was very qualified. The parents I have, have less knowledge than myself but I thank those that are trying to help. I've been trying to shift the focus of team trophy chasing to getting quality matches & opportunities for the kids. Club is maybe 5 years old if that, so I understood the trophy chasing at the beginning as it's a successful basketball school. The average wrestler to the multi sport athlete that's an average wrestler is my next point. We need those kids as mentioned. Why I push for having 3 or 4 tournaments sanctioned by the IHSAA. The classed team state duals are the most important. The IHSWCA have done excellent with it, and now it's time for the IHSAA to sanction it like the football tournament for teams with 7+ weight classes filled. The biggest one needed is a classed individual tournament. This is especially for the 1 & 2A classes. This gives the good multi sport wrestlers a chance to win something as the schools depend on those athletes to play 3 sports to field teams unlike 3&4A. We obviously need to keep the single class individual tournament for the 3rd sanctioned tourney. This allows the average wrestlers to improve by facing the elite. It also allows our elite to compete against each other & keep improving our national standing. The 4th & less needed is the single class team dual tournament. I've saw/listened to matches where that average kid steps up to become a hero in that tournament series. Many times not getting pinned by a stud advanced the team in those hero situations. That is the character building this sport provides and we need today.
  22. This is because they're used to Friday nights for football as well as Friday or Saturday nights for that other winter sport. Those are also solely team sports. If you get them hooked on duals, you may have a better chance for individual tournaments.
  23. Yes,why we need another between. Be halfway between the styles for some.
  24. Yep and the odd number can be the main tiebreaker. Kids are getting heavier in general. Huge gap from 215/220 to HWT.
