Marion used to go up to Concordia for the Wild Bill Invite. When I was a kid I would ride the bus as my uncle was the assistant coach. Snider had Brownlee, Woodson, Wagner prolly a couple others I am missing. They were tough tough but so was northwood and muncie southside at that time. Idk if they still have it but it used to be a great tournament. -

Wait is that really brownlees son? Brownlee was my fav wrestler growing up. Idk if ive ever seen anyone faster on their feet. Maybe brandon wright but thats it. -
There is nothing in the calendar year that I look forward to more than IHSAA state finals. This year would’ve been my 23rd straight. It makes me sick just thinking about not being there as a fan. But the fact that we are still going to have it, and athletes will get a shot at a state title is all that matters. I am really impressed with the IHSAA and the way they have navigated through the sports seasons thus far.

20. Still get the chicken tender basket at least once a year and i get ice cream during the finals every year. No excuses play like a champion.

If you havent seen the chesterton kid, you will find out real quick he is legit as well. Rioux is just a cut above from what I have seen. I got him winning it but if lowery, roberson, kyson, dalton win it I wouldnt be shocked. Just a little surprised if that makes sense.

I agree and Goin could win 106 and I wouldnt be surprised at all. 126 is just brutal. Its hard for me to imagine that I have dalton vs roberson in the consis wrestling for the chance to go for 5th. But lets flip the script and say they Both win saturday morning. Its just as hard to imagine montgomery and lowery in the losers bracket. That is the weight class of the weekend for sure.

I have never won a state finals bracket challenge so dont kill me for my picks. But I think I got top 10 one time. EMD is going to be hard to beat on paper but that’s what makes our sport so awesome, you have to show up, weigh in, put and ankle band on and wrestle. Here is how I had it shaking out. EMD 113- 2nd, 120- 5th, 132- 3rd, 138- 1st, 145- 4th, 160- 1st, 170- 3, 182- 1st CP 106- 3rd, 113- 5th, 120- 3rd, 126- 7th, 132- 1st, 145- 3rd, 160- 5th Cathedral 120- 1st, 138- 2nd, 160- 3rd, 170- 7th, 195- 8th, 285- 4th Brownsburg 106- 1st, 126- 3rd, 138- 5th, 195- 4th, 285- 1st

126 in 2017-2018 season. Asa, Rooks, Mills, Viduya a couple more I am missing. 138 was also loaded this year.

I love what we are doing with team state. I think it is great and I am excited to watch that tradition continue to grow. If we class the individual tournament we lose out on so many good matchups. Dolly vs Mauer Red vs Lee Jackson vs Tsirtsis Campbell vs Petrov Carr vs Harper are some that probably never would have happened if we had class wrestling at the individual tournament. It really is a tough subject but I think there are more benefits in keeping things the way they are now. That being said we need to implement wrestle backs at semi state. 100% would make friday night even better than it already is.

Does asa have mor state titles than sectional titles? Not poking fun just wondering. If so that shows how wicked that sectional and regional are.

Ive been wrong before. Heres who i got in the finals EMD-4 Cathedral-4 Avon- 3 Roncalli- 3 CMA-2 Portage-2 Columbus E- 2 PM, Jimtown, Center Gove, Shenandoah, Greenwood, North Mont, HSE, North Central- 1 145 and 152 are going to play a huge role in the team race. I got md vs cathedral in both. The finals are going to be wild. Rodgers vs conley friday night also . . Yugeee

Ive ripped down caution tape multiple times. Every time it was a school from the region. I fight with someone from the region about seats once a year minimum. Anyone have similar experiences?

Idk if it would be enough to do it or not but roncolli could have 3 (132,138,285) in the finals and a 3rd place (170) It is going to be a wild weekend.

First coached against this kid at the team state in 2016. Silas was a freshman and won a big match of two highly ranked 170lbers. No celebration, no non sense, strictly business. Shook hands walked off of the mat. He will be a great role model for Indiana Wrestling going forward. Congrats!

Could someone hit me with some facts on the Rooks and Mulkey situation? I've seen some people say it isn't worth bringing up? Anyone that knows me knows I am a solid guy, I am not trying to start anything just would like to catch the entire story as I clearly missed it yesterday. Some of you guys are acting like we are students at Hogwarts and the event is voldemort and we aren't allowed to talk about it? Any info would be great. I have no dog in the fight, I think they are both legends. Just curious.

I know we have talked about this multiple times. I just wanted to say thank you to all of the 126 lb wrestlers for staying at the weight and not dropping to 120 or bumping up to 132. (Obviously some couldn't because they had great team mates at the weight above and below.) Watching all 4 of the semi finalists walk out on to the mat was maybe the most excited I have ever been at the state tournament outside of red vs lee. Then you look on the outside mats and realize there are 4 other guys who are semi finalist/finalist caliber level as well, that came up short. All legends in my eyes. Thats the deepest weight class I have ever seen in my 18 years of watching the state finals. Obviously that is debatable but these guys made a very strong argument and have my vote. That was a blast and this is a sincere THANK YOU! -nick duke
