  1. Let me add myself to the list of impressed. I've watched several of his matches over the last couple of years, and he's clearly very good. However, it looks to me like he made a jump. On a side note, it's time to break Crown Point into two schools...with both in the top 4.
  2. Could this be a preview of a new Greatest Rivals thread? Check back in four years...
  3. #TheCounty, at the least, has a heck of a backup at 132.

  6. Every tournament my son ever wrestled in Columbia City involved snow. Is there a polar vortex that converges there? Oh, and, my son thanks you...
  7. You're on a collision course with a former high ranking POW.
  8. We may have an Oliver Wilson vs Anfernee Oliver mix. Does Hicks wrestle 113 and 145?
  9. With 7 from EC and 6 from FW that doesn't leave much for EV and NC.
  10. This should be good. I've missed this...there obviously is pent up demand.
  11. I might go back 'before' his freshman year and what he was doing to accomplished High School wrestlers.
  12. I don't know, but judging by the frustration here, maybe. I have seen multiple proposals here that make sense. The technology clearly exists to prioritize families while providing schools blocks of seats. It doesn't seem like it should be that hard, but clearly it is.
  13. There has to be something in between. I was near the first in line for 6 or 7 years and I still had to battle with folks saving off multiple rows so friends can show up at their leisure. I'd have no problem with going back to first come, first serve if it truly was that. And, I don't have any issue with saving a few seats for friends. It's the multiple rows saving that is my issue. There has to be a middle ground solution. These events aren't that unusual.
  14. Ha! That's hungry. I don't have that kind of patience.
  15. I won't speak for others, but I didn't experience anything different from previous years. People were walking right through with coolers and bags. No one said a word. The concession lines were a bit long, but the longest I waited was perhaps 3 minutes.
  16. Jason, I didn't and don't know exactly what to say. I can say this, watching and hearing about his response in those circumstance says volumes. And, that is a heck of a lot more important that one wrestling match or even a State tourney. You have a great kid.
  17. I've spoken to him, but don't know him personally. However, I've watched him wrestle for a few years. Every year, he was getting noticeably better. Trust me, if you were paying attention, you knew. He was talking to kids, asking questions and trying to figure out his opponents (even in middle school).
  18. I think Vaughn hit slide-bys on everyone. If I recall there were several equally matched guys at New Castle, Chastain, Ellis, Napier, McKinney, and Eldred. Good bracket.
  19. A good programmer, dba, designer...software engineer would provide that option to their end users. And while you're at it, I'd prefer 8.5 x 14.
  20. Underrated. He's skilled and has good size for a 106. He is and has been a tough out for anyone.
  21. Perhaps not, I miss things all the time. You mentioned 'taking something away' which sounded to me like the 'why' was a question of skill/work vs strength (aka testosterone). I haven't had to deal with what they or you do, so I'll acknowledge that. And, I'm sure that it gets aggravating if you hear it frequently, and you believe it's belittling accomplishments. However, don't you have factor in the weight class itself? That statement isn't limited to the girls. My son wrestles 106 and he's been hearing it for years (albeit not from adults...just him and other kids clacking). I'd bet every kid who has won the State at 106/113 has heard it a lot. Can't we agree that wrestling 106/113 is not the same as 126 whether you are a girl or boy? Strength, average age, and physical development are different. 'To me, and maybe only me, to acknowledge that does not in any shape or form diminish skill, effort or accomplishment. Good luck to your daughter, not that she needs it. I look forward to watching her for a while.
  22. That's a pretty bold post. If I'm not mistaken, the biggest upset is going to be your son when he reads this post.
  23. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not hearing or seeing anyone here take anything away from these kids, quite the opposite. I know, I'm not taking anything away from them. I'm pretty damn impressed and have been for a while (including Rihanna Murphy if she were still in state). If anything, "they have it harder." I think that is the point folks are making. It's subjective, but I think Miracle was as technically skilled and worked as hard as anyone in that 106 weight class when she qualified (including Micic and Boston).
