So...has this topic determined that only one sectional in the whole state, seeded according to the IHSAA rules and their tutorial!?!? Is this a new tutorial and rules, regarding the head to heads against the field? It seems this had nothing to do with the new SS advancement criteria. So how many years has everybody been seeding wrong? (according to the IHSAA rules) I think most people reading this thread would put their trust in Y2,Coach Peck and other veteran coaches knowledge, but now that's being proven wrong, IF Scholar is correct. So...did this one coach, who Scholar said was the only one who knew the rules, invite Commissioner Faulkens because he knew the tutorial was against all history and conventional wisdom, and he wanted to make sure it was followed?? It sounds like the Laf Jeff kid is the only one who this may affect negatively, so it prob wasn't his coach.

    Sectional Seeding Criteria

    1. Has had 10 match (es) towards Record
    2. Was the wrestler a Semi-State Quarterfinalist last year?
    3. Record winning percentage
    4. Record wins
    5. Indicate Highest Advancement in IHSAA Tournament Series last year

This tournament will also be using head to head competition to seed wrestlers. Coaches will have from 01/21/2017 at 07:01 p.m. until 01/23/2017 at 03:00 p.m. to login and indicate the other wrestlers in the bracket that their wrestler has beaten.  The wrestlers will first be placed in order using the seeding criteria above, and then any wrestler that has beaten a wrestler within 5 slot(s) above him and has not lost to any wrestler below the wrestler will get moved ahead of the wrestler he/she beat.  If a wrestler has beaten a wrestler but lost to another wrestler below the wrestler he/she beat, that wrestler will not be moved.

1 Adkins Lafayette Jefferson 30-6 Beat Kidwell from West Lafayette
    2 Kidwell West Lafayette  26-3 Lost 1st round Semi-State
    3. Hart  Delphi   8-3 Lost 2nd round Semi-State
    4. Krintz West Lafayette  45-0 Lost 1st round Semi-State

Current seeding has Adkins and Krintz meeting in semi’s and Kidwell and Hart.
    By the criteria I see……
    1. Hart (by second criteria, made 2nd round semi-state)
    2. Krintz (by second criteria and then winning percentage over Kidwell)
    3. Adkins (by head to head criteria over Kidwell)
    4. Kidwell (by second criteria, no other semi-state placers)
Criteria seeding would have Hart and Kedwell wrestling and again Krintz and Adkins wrestling in semi’s. So, like I said there still meeting where they would meet if they don’t lose.

looks like 160 will be fine. I would say 3 seed should be 1st and 4 seed should be 2, but seperates the better 2 by my opinion.

OTR- Thanks for the preview.  Very good rundown.  Solid and loaded class for sure.

Cosgrove, It's a great weight class for guys who like to grind.  LOL.  If you prefer quick, first period falls, probably not for you.

7 guys who've been to state and 3 who've placed.  They look to be evenly spread throughout the regionals, so even the first round matches at EC will be very good.  Even the lowly Logan Regional will be sending 3 SQs.

Even though the lack of punctuation does not bother me there is a way to fix this. When talking in the voice to text program (assuming this is an iphone), state your desired sentence and the word period, then pause. It should show up, after just repeat this process. (Not a dig, just trying to help)
Edit: The focus should be on his heartfelt words, not punctuation.

Ok. I took the liberty of trying to insert some punctuation and inserting some words to appease the grammar police as what Mr Littell is saying is profound and heartfelt and should not be lost on using an automated text program that works about as well as autocorrect! He explained that in a post but I guess that wasn't good enough. The mods can delete if deemed necessary, (good to see them all on the board today!) and apologies to Mr Littell if any wording changes his intended meaning. I don't think it did and hope it doesn't. I've been on here 4 years and nothing has hit me like this post did because we all want is best for our kids. I'm not connected to PM in any way. I know not the people involved. I just wanted to make it an easier read for those struggling to see it's core message.
    Best wishes to all involved.

Okay it's the next day and I promised a good friend of mine that I would not post anything last night well I have changed my mind on how to word it I do not want to bad-mouth or call anybody out but I do want to defend my son every since Brayden didnt drop to 106 for team state not only has he felt shut out and alone in the room he has pretty much been made to feel it is all his fault PM did not win a team State title I could get into Pacific details but at this point I'm choosing not to Brayden has came out and did everything he was asked to do as a freshman put his whole heart and soul into only for these things to be happening now of course him and his coach have two different total views of what's been going on the room and all fairness I have not been in there he believes that they have been working with the other kid in order to get him to win a wrestle off again I have not been in there but with Perry People already posting he is going 106 and when Brayden is told no matter if he wins the wrestle off or not he will have to wrestle him off again and he will still have to share his 113 spot with him I tend to believe him the cards are stacked against him they have tried to convince him just to cut down with out a wrestle off now it seems that didn't work they're going to do what they can Brayden is succeeding where he was at was healthy and actually loving what he was doing I know a lot of people getting down as low as you can it's part of the sport and I understand that I just don't understand the logic of when a kid is doing well pushing him down further and when a kid is not doing well instead of training him and getting him better cut him down lower as I said earlier Braden has never back down from a challenge since he started the sport he has sought out the kids that can beat him upset when they're not in his bracket 2 Braden it's not always about winning the tournament but face and somebody that you've been told you can't beat so for him to tell me he doesn't want to go back in that room something has to be going on well you treated like a kid like outsider long enough he'll start acting like an outsider something I can say to the parents an eighth graders about to be freshman wanted to look at other schools because you feel it's a better opportunity for your kid you're taking a chance loyalty will always lie with the kids that were already there I found that out the hard way maybe all this is happening to us because of our lack of loyalty to Center Grove the last thing and then I'm done I also find it kind of amusing the Braden has came on the high school scene at 113 and grab the bull by the horns has showed everybody exactly what he's made of and a month ago everybody was saying he was a shoo-in for 113 which I always knew was not the case but he is a top contender it's kind of amusing to me now that he loses to in my opinion one of the best 113th in the state a returning champion 3-1 and now a lot of people on here saying his best shot to win state is 106 people know me I will make the decisions for my family that I feel is best brayden having to sit out the rest of this season to stand by what he believes in he wouldn't cut for team State why would he do it for individual but he has a friend at 106 who is doing well we will not be bullied into taking his spot to me that makes him a champion lot of people on here will say it's cuz he's scared to lose a wrestle-off but more than likely will be standing across from each other next year I guess we'll know then but you don't prepare one kid until the other kid two or three days before hand that since you won't just drop to 6 you're going to have to wrestle off which I agree wrestle-offs are fair but in this case I tend to believe my son sorry for the rant I just know how everybody is going to be judging him by his decisions I just felt his side needed to get out there

Seems like a lot of drama surrounding this situation now. Really hope it's not true that they are forcing him out of his spot. Shame on his teammates if they led him to believe that it was his fault that they lost the title match. I can't even fathom how Littell must feel about people he trusted turning on him. I don't even think Fair would be more effective at 113.

    Only a couple amendments:
120: The guys at this weight class are just so close...so many close matches already.  It's true Dickens owns a win over Triana, but he also got pinned by Bealmear who Triana pinned.  Triana's also lost to Poynter, but yesterday he beat #2 Mejia and #4 Rooks, who beat Poynter.  I would pick Triana over Dickens by a very close score in a re-match, but I think it could be 5-5 if they wrestled 10 times.
132: None of us realized until yesterday how good Gimson is.  He pins #5, beats #4...then gets majored by #6 as you suggest?  No way.  Sophomore year is often the biggest jump and he's an undefeated breakout sophomore that we just misunderstood before.  I would pick Luigs based on his dominating performance yesterday, but there's no way he wins by more than a couple points.  For reference's sake for you E-ville semi-state watchers, so we can re-calibrate how we think of Gimson, who will be ranked in the 3-5 range now: Tolin up at 132 beats 138 #5 Nathan Conley.  Gimson pins Tolin and backs it up with a win over state placer Combest (you remember him, right?  put out Reitz's Craig and topped Dilbeck at semi-state last year).  Gimson is for real.

Basketball is thriving still. State tournament attendance was dropping drastically after the Damon Bailey years. It wasn't the class system.

"Many" is a rough word when you can't back it up with stats and facts. The numbers were posted on here within the past two years and 3A teams had close to 13 roster spots filled, while 1A had closer to 9 or 10. I'll try to find the stats.

Also it won't be an explosion, it will be an increase over 10-15 years in which you would see the affects.

Even with that, bigger schools will still see the same amount or more success in a two classed system. They would be affected very little.

Is our system working? Small schools are struggling to fill teams, big schools are struggling to fill full teams. We are NOT one of two states to have a single class champion. New Jersey, Kentucky, California, Vermont, Hawaii, and Delaware also have a single class state.

What would it hurt the sport if more kids were able to see the results of the dedication, hard work, responsibility, etc? The current wrestlers are our future coaches, parents, refs or super fans. More kids experiencing state will rub off on their teammates and others around them. What you don't see is if a kid from a small school qualifies for state his teammates will want to join them, they will experience state and be a lot more inclined to do more work to join them the next year. More kids will experience the ticket round and thus feel more inclined to go one step further. Not only would we help participation, but we'd also help our quality of wrestling.

On top of that, if you have ever noticed our state finals has very little appeal to college coaches. We have many kids that lose at semi-state that are capable small school college wrestlers. What coach would go to Indiana to see 224 kids, with half only having one match when they can go to Ohio(3 classes), Michigan(4 classes), Illinois(3 classes), etc and get a lot more bang for their buck.

The tuff guy "one state champ" pride of our state is not helping our sport grow at the small school level, it is actually killing it.

Lots of bravado from a couple Logan Regional guys each year and that's all it is...chest thumping bravado...they never back it up. So predictable. Same posters each year claim Logan will send bunches to state. Never happens. Lol
