  1. Can my boys wrestle an iron man tournament and that count as both qualifying events for freestyle state and greco state?
  2. I saw in iswa magazine that we went back to qualifying for the event. I grew up in era of placing in 2 to qualify. I think it is/ was good. Freestyle and Greco was a good and welcome change. But times have changed. Both my boys play baseball too. We went to freeste state last year (peewee and bantam) without wrestling any meets. I told them to just wrestle and don't worry about the "rules". They placed (regardless of finish). They love the fact their name is now in magazine. This gave them confidence and are now really working to make magazine again. But they play baseball and derby weekend is only weekend we have off. Its a double edge sword. Damned if we do and damned if we don't. Freestyle and Greco are important for the average wrestle to become a formitable opponent. I think if we are going to mandate participation then more feasible opportunities must be implemented in our season. What if we would keep "track" of partixpation at etc? Technolgy allows this now. Or allow club's to schedule freestyle/Greco duals or minimeets during the week? Just trying not to complain but look for a solution. Identify the problem then find a feesible solution. Let's not sit in a rocking chair
  3. Jeff Regional to Evansville Semi state 106: Rooks should win and punch his ticket. Gohl is second and prob falls short in Evansville. 113: Regaurdless of champ...we need 4th place finisher from Evansville. Sellmer has to be our first favorite. 120: Bullock or Jones will have to have match of year to qualify. 126: Young has a Chance 132: In my opinion, our first won't beat any second. 138: our champ punches ticket if we draw #2 Bloomington. 145: Herein should be our first lock. And will be on podium 152: Lynch and Hoke will have a shot. But ticket round draw will be challenging. Let's hope there is no gauging... 160, 170, 180: all other regionals hoping for our #1. No offence guys, but nobody has done their off season work. 195:our champ should have a good ticket round match. 220: ? Hwt: Our champ won't prob won't make it to OT in ticket round. Should get 4-5 to state 1-2 placers. Hopefully my boys don't pull fire alarm tomorrow and we see bbb and Burris out dance everybody at lunch.
  4. The brackets were on track. I hope you copied and pasted all that.
  5. Great job by New Albany today getting the win. First sectional title for NA since Burres's era. Lots of great matches and very competitive im most weights. It was the NA, FC, and Jeff show in the finals. Officiating was sub par today. I never thought I would say it but, I wanted Rosbottom, Mitch, Black, and Donniebaker as officials!
  6. Congrats to NA and JC on winning sectionals. Now the battle of the best draws for ticket round. Team champ is JC. I just hope officiating at Jeff is better next weekend than this weekend. Who qualifies and who has a chance in ticket round. I personally would like to see the match of hossierdad vs hossierdaddy. Both were very quiet today.
  7. Notice that bbb skipped all those things to get rankings done, but he didn't skip dinner...a true hwt! I'm proud of you, you represent well. And do a descent job with the rankings.
  8. Sims (MD) did close to same thing. Hopefully Fergie has same success.
  9. Wtestling4ever - I surprised youre not more pro red/white. Once a devil always a devil? Jennings is a solid team. I think they pull away from the field. Is second place won in the finals or in the Consols? Last year bnl had a few top seeds that didn't achieve. They didn't wrestle in duals this year and they are seeded ahead of some very solid kids. This hurt a few weight classes. Let the Jeff regionals begin! Winners may have a chance in the ticket round. Wrestle hard and good luck
  10. Wrestling4ever, for having no connections to NA you know an aweful lot of details and are very defensive. I'm sure coach Burris and Binkley would rather not have all the attention of one of their wrestlers not making weight. Do you really think MA and OC showed up on purpose late to cheat? Regardless once you step on scales its official. And Jeff scales are typically light anyways. 11. They have seeded 8 before if weight class is that stacked. 170 is the anticipated finals. Low score, Stevenson. Higher score, Lampe. Both will be ready...Who's mentality will prevail...Knable or Haussman?
  12. Did any team go 5-0? How did Herrin (JC) look? What wrestlers went undefeated?
  13. Does any one know the Saturday Schedule? I heard that there will be no Friday night component. Seymour and BNL want better competition?
  14. This is all very comical since Madison is hosting their annual gauntlant in a week. First period folk, second period freestyle, third period Greco. Only tournament in the state that promotes all 3 styles in one match.
  15. A great meet put together by coach Struck. All you Seniors, this could be a good chance to get your name out there one last time. Seniors, fill out your FASFA by March 10th and wrestle in this meet. Go somewhere to wrestle for at least a year so you don't have any regrets. I'm tired of Indiana not winning this meet. And I wish more of our local wrestlers used wrestling to get an education. If you don't know who Josh Sampson is...google him and his Mustang Mustache.
  16. 91-95. Matt Osbourne - Floyd Central. Freshman year, Lost ticket round to Herb Taylor (Ben Davis) on a questionable call. Herb, Norwood?, was eventual champ that year. Osbourne was Dqed out of Regionals his sophomore year.( just ask bbb, I'm sure he was a middle schooler watching the match). Osbourne's replacement that year was Tice (s. Dearborn) placed 5th. Junior year lost to Rogge (MD) in ticket round. Senior year....Mia In same breath I have to give a shout out to the WrestlingGods! Wiemer your picture should be on the wall!
  17. I believe josh Sampson is from New Washington not Warren Central. I think he was New Washington's first state qualifier. In his walbash photo he's rockin an awesome stash!
  18. Hummel was on my jr olympic team. He was fun to watch. He would have one state if there was a 220 back then. It jumped from 189 to HWT. How do you think he would have competed against our 220s this year?
  19. MDs Armentado. (Spelling?). And didny the MD crowd chant his name? Ar-men-tad-o. Over and over again. I havent heard much chanting of names recently. I don't know if MD has a wrestler with a "chantable" last name but I think that Nick Lee's entire name works. Maybe they should bring it back for the semifinal match. Might give him the extra mojo to defeat Micic.
  20. What are some of the most catchy names for the state finals announcer to introduce? My personal favorite is: T....J....HAYS That was his Jr year. His Sr year it was more like: tj hays.
  21. If he wasn't 100% why would you pick him to win? Or even draw attention to him. Wouldn't you want fly "under the radar"?
  22. No allowance from 90-94. That's when wrestlers weren't allowed to grow during the season. Also there was a year 96 or 97 when wrestlers didn't have to weigh-in second day of state. That didnt last long. The 125pound state champ weighed over 150 after his finals match. I'm sure the scale was just a bit off?
  23. Exciting day of wrestling. I'm a little nervous about the amount of our "studs" that had close matches or put on their backs. That just LEDs to having a bad next week. I think BBB set the standard of the winning coach has to wear a sweater vest. That thing would have looked like a bath robe one me. Who punches their ticket? 106: Franklin with another reach back head?...prob not 113: Ely or Cunningham 120: does bailey bring home the gold? 126: JoJo is on a roll 132: WARD! 138: 145: ruddick? 152: my $ still on Troutman 160: partee and franklin....hopefully 170: fisher and herron have a chance 182: ? 195: Sandlin 220: JC Hwt: Jolley-Little
