  1. Posted this too soon on accident, edited and complete.
  2. State champions per Semi-State: Evansville (E): 3 ~ 21.4% Merrilleville (M): 7 ~ 50% New Catle (NC): 3 ~ 21.4% Fort Wayne (FW): 1 ~ 7.1% State Placers by SS E: 31 or 27.7% M: 26 or 23.2% NC: 31 or 27.7% FW: 24 or 21.4% 4's over 1's: 5 Worth noting that 3 of the 5 1's that went down were from FW. Then one each from M and NC. The placements of these 4s were two in 8th, one in 7th, one was 4th, and one was 3rd. Bonus Points: 37 Majors 3 Technical Falls 4 Forfeits 83 Pins Of those pins, 33 were in the first period, 31 in the second, and 19 in the third. Also worth noting was New Castle's 132 state qualifiers all placed. Some numbers may be 1 or 2 off, I am human.
  3. One of the welch brothers had a loss to Caleb Ervin their senior year I'm pretty sure.
  4. You see it at every tournament. Sometimes even causing the experience for the wrestlers to be somewhat ruined. Boo'ing is awful in many ways, but that is how people show their disapproval for what is going on. It still has its pros dispite the cons.
  5. This all started when kids started taking injury time when they were gassing. So fans started booing. Then they assumed ALL injury time was for the lungs so booing increased. Now it's gone way too far and kids get boo'd for bleeding. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see one kid making themselves bleed to get a break. Ben Harvey/Dylan Lydy finals come to mind. Tons of boos for Harvey because he couldn't get his nose to stop bleeding, which I'm sure Lydy did anyways with how intense that match was.
  6. Both great kids and glad this match happened. This arguement seems pointless. If you don't want the ref to call a pin that wasn't a pin, don't be on your back. I hope Joe wins the next 3 years and think he will, but tommy won this year and we should applaud this great young man.
  7. Bumping up from 103/106 is always tough. Some people can do it and others struggle a little. Look at Cody Phillips for example, 2X state champ at 103 and then gets 3rd the next year at 112. Followed by an Inj Default out his senior year. But CJ wins at 106, bumps to 120, and is just as dominant if not more his sophomore year. Depends a lot on the kid.
  8. Pound for pound is just an overall fun topic but most will never happen, such as rypel and everyone else being talked about. Red COULD have bumped up to face Lee, but I doubt he cares about doing that. And I'm not disagreeing scholar. There were a ton of variables in that match. However, I think there may be more than 4 variables in your story too, so to end discussion I think you better just go pro and give me 10% of the profits for the stellar idea.
  9. I think using 1 common opponent from the previous season versus a 4th degree tennis win separated be many years is not "just as ridiculous of a predictor of a match". Also why I added "just a comparison" in my post. I think Ferg finds a way to win this one but I'm obviously biased from evansville.
  10. If I were to bet $20, I would put it on Lee. If CJ beat Lee and bumped up again, I would put $50 more on James. I would go as far to say I think Lee is ahead of James in pound for pound. If James cut to 132, I would take the Fargo OW in that one.
  11. To put it in perspective for Reitz vs Ferg on Friday night, Reitz beat Konrath under the lights by 1 or 2 if my memory is correct. The same season, Ferg seemed to dominate and was up by 7 at one point in the match. Ended up cruising to a solid 4 point win (or so). Given, this was middle of season and konrath bumped up. Just an interesting comparison.
  12. I just heard about Sage Coy actually, a friend told me they saw him and he a slick, hard nosed wrestler! Excited to see him this weekend. Nick won't be touched but if I recall, Sage could be under the lights according to the bracket.
  13. Cainan Schaefer #17 could do quite a bit better than his rank. 120 is about as easy to predict as winning the lottery 3 days in a row. 126 I think this guy named Chad could make a little noise if he plays his cards right and has a spunky enough outfit.
  14. I haven't been keeping up this year nearly as much but I'll give input up to 160. 106: agreed. Annakin is a beast and most likely making a trip to state. 113: I'll go Luigs over anyone with Willis/Horty battling it out. (Horty from memorial is still there isn't he? Been awhile since I've seen him) 120: I got Feeguson over Egli 6-2 and then Egli closing the gap from there. 126: Johnson over Willis but do not be shocked if Willis takes this one. 132: Lee with a blind fold. 138: Lee with his shoe laces tied together. Ramsey, Dixon, Wargel 145: TOUGH final... I'm gonna say Schnell wins this week but doesn't beat Jourdan again. 152: Kemper and nobody else. No dark horse has a chance my friend. 160: Tough one again. Huelsing, Lockyeat, Forzley (assuming he is in)
  15. Egli was a pretty big 106. I heard Connor James was a big 152. And then of course my pick for biggest p4p is Gelen Robinson. Pure muscle at 220.
  16. I'm also very biased but Kelley beat Farrel by about 5 or 6 at schoolastic duals after Farrell's junior year. Also, Molloy beat McKinney from PM who majored Forte prior to that.
  17. Who wins? 106: Red vs Reitz 113: Micic vs Smith 120: Wilson vs Red 126: Crume vs Micic 132: Lecount vs Wilson 138: Forte vs Cash 145: Molloy vs Lecount 152: Farrell vs Kelley 160: McClurg vs Hiestand 170: Bobbie Stevenson vs Jacob Stevenson 182: hurford vs chambers 195: sliga vs moss 220: Robinson vs Robinson HWT: Winfield vs Bernard
  18. Really hoping that gets put up soon. Some things just happened too fast and I want to see them again!
  19. After watching both these guys this weekend every single match. Reitz is on fire! He is a hammer on top and with all the trouble Breyden have Konrath. I'm gonna predict 4-2 Reitz with him riding Paul out.
  20. Kelley won 4-2 at IHPO with a takedown and reversal. Macri scored a lock hands call and escape. My most anticipated, under the radar match, is Red vs. Lahue
  21. When I tell people about State, it's the first thing I mention. It will take away so much. I would think the IHSAA has taken enough away from us already. There should be some sort of boycott, petition, or something to get this back. It's one of the few things the wrestling family has that not many, if anybody, else has.
