  1. Well, since he's at 9 he's close to being off of the list anyway. You may just get your wish.
  2. Davis wrestled 135 at the preseason open. I would expect to see him at 132 and I believe he will be challenged at that weight. I can't see him cutting to 126 although he might and I hear Todrank plans to go 138 so I dont' see him there either. If he goes to 126 he will not win conference and I think he will be challenged anywhere else he ends up. I'm not saying he won't win it, but he will have his hands full at 132 or 138.
  3. When does the preseason mag come out? Can't wait to see it again this year.
  4. Without question. Was she at 113 or 120 last year? That's a big jump in strength
  5. How many Indiana high school wrestlers won titles? I know there was some talk of disappointment in the number of high end Indiana kids not competing. I still think Indiana had a good showing even with Micic, Lecount, Forte and others not wrestling.
  6. Pierre was 5-2 at 155 lbs. Lost to Kelley 13-4 and a good Ohio kid 6-0. I did t see a lot of Kemper but he went toe to tie with McCloskey before losing 3-1 and I know Kemper weighed in at 164 and wrestled 173. He will be very strong at 160 this year
  7. I'm not sure that the Castle Sectional will move more kids on to semi-state than Central, but it should be much closer to even than in years past. Does anyone have predictions of champions of the Castle Regional for each weight class?
  8. The SIAC had a handful of kids at the IHPO this weekend and brought home two titles. Ferguson and Kelley both looked great against some very good competition. In addition to Kelley, Central had Kemper and AJ Dixon there, Reitz had Ferguson, Davis and Todrank and Mater Dei had Seng and Pierre. I think each of them had at least a couple of wins, but I don't know how many for sure. It would have been nice to have a few more from the area up there, but I'm sure most play football too. Anyway, I think the SIAC could have at least a couple of State Champions this year and several very high on the podium.
  9. With the quality of the competition any Indiana kid that made it to the top 6 in his weight class was impressive. I watched a lot of matches yesterday and in most I saw two quality kids going at it. I admit a little southern bias, but Ferguson was on another planet yesterday. I watched his final three matches and he looked fantastic. I have no idea what he's been doing all summer, but it's working. He should compete for a state title this year at 113. Kelley was impressive at 155 as well. Big win over Macri in the semis. 155 was a solid field and he had no trouble with it. I don't know if that makes him the favorite at 152 this year, but I wouldn't bet against him right now either. Great day of wrestling made a long drive home worth it.
  10. With 102 wrestlers on the "Stud" list and many more quality wrestlers there should be a ton of great matches. 123 is sick and 148 isn't too far behind. Head will be on a swivel all day trying to catch all the matches I can. What a way to kick off the season
  11. If Kelley could manage to win it all this year he would have to crack this list wouldn't he?
  12. I think you are underestimating Bol's size. He was a full 190 pounds at 7'7". Did you think he would have cut to 160? I can't see him lower than 170. I just think the cut would have been to hard on him.
  13. These are only guesses as we won't know weight classes for some of these wrestlers until the season begins, but here is an attempt. I also must confess, I am an SIAC guy and don't know much about the schools outside of our conference. I'm not trying to slight anyone here, I just don't have a whole lot to go on. I'm sure someone else out there knows a lot more than I do. 106: Egli (MD) will be the favorite I would think with Konrath from Mt. Vernon not far behind, if he is behind at all. Beyond these two I'm not sure as 106 doesn't normally have many returning wrestlers. 113: Brown (Castle) and Ferguson (Reitz) would be the favorites as long as both can get there with their weights. McNett from Harrison should be top 4 along with whoever MD has in that spot. I think Mt. Vernon also has a very good incoming freshman that may fill that weight, but his name escapes me right now. 120: Not sure here either. Ferguson if he doesn't make 113 will be up there and MD will have a number of guys (Johnson, Lehman, Schwiezer) fighting for this spot I would guess. Mt. Vernon will have a solid entry (probably Keller) also. Is Hunter Arney still at Memorial? If so, he may will be near the top as well. Any of the MD guys could win it, but who knows who will make weight and win the spot. 126: Nick Lee (MD) has to be the favorite, with Suar (MV) a distant second. I don't know who Memorial has here, but I think they have some quality kids around this weight. Once again, I don't know a whole lot on this one right now. 132: MD will have several guys fighting for this spot whoever wins it might be considered the favorite with Josh Davis from Reitz. I think Boonville will have a good wrestler here. Not sure who Reitz will have and once again, Memorial may have a quality wrestler here. I would say this one is wide open. 138: Karges from Princeton is a beast who ran into some tough luck last year at a very good weight class. He might be your favorite along with Todrank from Reitz. I'm sure MD will have someone here to challenge him. You may also have Charlie Allen from Boonville and Patrick Schnell from Castle here if they haven't grown much and don't move up. 145: Big question here is will Kemper or Kelley from Central wrestle here or will they both be heavier. I have heard Kelley plans to wrestle 152 and someone reported on here a while back that Kemper was up to about 180. If neither one of them wrestle here you would have to go with Schnell (Castle), Allen (Boonville), Mater Dei or possibly Memorial if Petrig falls here again. Right now this is anybody's guess. 152: Again, Kelley (Central) has to be the favorite if he is here. After Kelley, you would have to think Weinzapfel (MD), Petrig (Memorial) or Riegel (Reitz) will be in the mix. 160: If Kemper is here he should be considered the favorite, followed by Forzley (MD). Shane Martin from North Posey will be a solid entry here as well. Beyond these three I'm not familiar with enough of the other teams to make an educated guess. 170: Tyler Stotlar of Memorial may be the favorite. I'm sure Heritage Hills will have someone solid here, they seem to be very strong up top every year. Sam Bassmier (MD) will be solid as well. 182: Konderding (HH) will be the favorite hands down. If Bassmier isn't at 170 he may meet Konerding in the finals. 195 through Heavy: I have no clue. I'm sure Heritage Hills will have a couple of solid guys here as will Memorial and probably MD. The heavy from Harrison will probably be the favorite there. Like I said at the start, I hope I didn't miss anyone obvious, but it's early and I may have. Also if I've overlooked someone outside of the SIAC I'm sorry, but I'm just not as familiar with those schools. Castle Regional should be fairly strong again this year.
  14. Looks like 148 is going to be a pretty solid weight class. 5 on the stud list already.
  15. Buzz Mieras was a state champ at 138, so I would put him there. Craig Macke, while never a state champ, was a beast at 125 and probably would have been a state champ at least once if not for Escobedo.
  16. What weight will Ruddick be? He was 45 last year and it looks as if he has wrestled 152 this offseason. Do you expect him to be back at 145 next year?
  17. Craig Weinzapfel was a 2 timer who wrestled 145 as a Senior and won and Bret Schnur was a Champ back in 1987 (I think) at that weight. So, I guess a couple of decent guys to fall back on if you just want Maurer to fill one weight class.
  18. From what I understand Todrank is planning to go 138, so I would guess Davis at 132 unless he can beat Todrank in a wrestle off. I think my money would be on Todrank in that one.
  19. Exactly, 106 - 145 is going to be a meat grinder. And that's just in practice.
