  1. Very good information. Thank you for sharing! How does that compare to the last few years?
  2. I enjoy seeing cool singlets at state, whether in Indiana or Michigan. There are always neat ones. However, I agree the utility belt and tux uniforms were not very flattering.
  3. Remove penalty points for stalling. Instead, when a wrestler is called for stalling, the opponent instantly gets choice of top, bottom or neutral. I think officials will be more apt to call stalling if no points are involved and the wrestlers are still deciding the match themselves.
  4. 160 is quite volatile this year. I think 8 or 9 different guys have a shot.
  5. Q: What do you get when you cross a wrestling dog with a rose? A: A collie-flower!
  6. Hold state at North Side gym in Elkhart so I don't have to travel so far.
  7. ... or a 12th grader from Franklin living in Dorktown.
  8. This is not a criticism of Chesterton. It's just been so long I can't remember all the details. In 1989 when Chesterton was the team state champion (under the old system), what was their dual meet record? Did they win the DAC that season? At state, 1st place Chesterton scored 59.5 points and Lawrence North 51 team points. That wasn't the lowest total in history. However, that certainly was on the low end compared to other state title teams. I am trying to recall if they were one of these super teams who won based upon 4 or so guys. I recall Davidson won and Jackson got 3rd or so.
  9. There is no need for insults. People, calm down. Look, it really is not a complex decision. Most people I speak with in the ISWA say matside pairings and staggered start times will happen for all tournaments soon. They also say that a few traditionally minded pairings people, with a lot of influence, are holding up everyone. I am optimistic the improvements will happen soon, but just how soon is the only question. For the future of the ISWA, I hope the directors and officers make the alterations now. There are plenty of sharp and intelligent ISWA officers and directors and hopefully they can get the few traditionally minded people to move forward, or out vote them, or simply say "this is the way we are going to do it."
  10. A) 1 pt. for a push out. Any stalling call gives immediate choice top, bottom, neutral. C) College out of bounds rule criteria for TD. D) 20 seconds to turn an opponent from top; if no turn, then back in neutral. E) For college: Elimination of riding time. We need to make guys wrestle more and remove the traditional avenues to stalling.
  11. There are all excellent questions. I was wondering the exact same thing!
  12. Must feed bureaucratic machine. Must feed bureaucratic machine. Must feed bureaucratic machine.
  13. I wish somebody would give Bobby Cox and annual test. Question #1: Why do you enjoy insulting all of northwest Indiana by sending them to tiny Merrillville for the semi-state? Feel free to add your own test questions.
  14. I agree with you regarding 99.8% of kids. You are just dead on accurate. However imop, there are a few exceptions for severely physically underdeveloped boys/girls.
  15. What is the rule regarding age limits? Years ago, it was an athlete could not turn 20 years old prior to sectionals. Is the rule still the same? On average, I am against holding kids back. But I honestly can understand holding back an 85-90 lbs. kid who has not even went through puberty. That seems like common sense because he would be so out of place in high school.
  16. I guess I am fine with it. Certainly, I don't think it is the ideal situation. However, especially on teams with a bunch of forfeits, this could help some.
  17. a. Show up late, with a bus load - -> That can happen at any tourney. Has nothing to do with matside pairing. b. not come at all after home weigh ins--> See above. c. fill the paper work in improperly (Like wrong age)--> See above. d. "What no true second, I only lost once!" --> I hear some people say this to. Ignore 'em. Look, imop there is no valid reason to hold up people for an entire day just because a moronic parent shows up late or a pairing person is unwilling to change their process from 20 years ago. I am hopeful the ISWA will assert their authority now. I am optimistic because I think most things the ISWA does, they do well.
  18. Oh, definitely the own on the northside of Warsaw in Kosciusko County. It's like a supply line and playground for meth heads. Scary.
  19. A) I want to stay loyal to the ISWA. They helped me out a lot as a kid, both with wrestling and personally. HYWAY has hardly any tournaments. C) ISWA competition is just much better. D) Perhaps I'm overly optimistic, but I think ISWA will change this year. They have to or else HYWAY has the potential to explode in growth like MYWAY. E) Living in Michigan taught me having one organization is best. In Michigan, MYWAY pretty much wiped out USA Wrestling Michigan. There is almost nothing left but a few poorly attend freestyle tournaments. I would rather have ISWA oversee all three styles. But if the ISWA leadership fails to assert their authority over matside pairings and staggered start times at local tournaments, I think they are making a decades long error. This can't be something they say "Next year" about any longer.
  20. A fee??? Is the IHSAA there for the kids or just to create revenue for their own lazy tail do nothing jobs? Don't answer that. I guess we should just be grateful that Cox didn't punish the student, as the IHSAA is apt to do. What a bunch of clowns.
