Wow lots of anger towards officials. I was a middle school, junior high, high school, aau, some college wrestler. I have been a coach. My kids wrestle in JR. high, high school, aau and college. So wrestling in in my blood. I used to yell at refs, I have not begun to hold my tongue more as I have taked the test and class. It changed me from knowing all the rules which I thought to knowing a partial of the rules. I would welcome the loudest most knowledgeable person to come join isha and become an official we need more people who know it all. Its easy to ref from stands where thousand fans are not ready to stone you. "let the first one with out sin, cast the first stone.: Kurt DeLong
I am a Sliga fan, My son wrestled him I think 5 times lost every time. Mitch beat him fair and square, after match befriended him. He is a class act, in his wrestling skills and personality. He is one of the best if not the best take down artists I have seen, in high school or college. Every one looses, a winner pulls up his boot straps and wrestles again. I would of rather wrestle and loose than play basketball. (opps sorry). I have never seen Gelen, but he sounds fantastic by all the posts. Good luck to both.
You are penalized as well in high school and college. Added point for a near fall or loss of position, first offense in college, 2nd in high school. This does take in effect being in pin situation and yelling for injury time instead of being pinned then winning match.
Be preparted I have seen this on the college level regularly. I raised my son with integrity. It happens, some will do what ever it takes to win. I would rather loose with intgirty than win by being a cheat.
I watched Sliga wrestle Early today, was a great match. Early wrestled exceptional, on his game the entire tournament. Sliga just wrestled better. It will be a great match if Berry and Sliga wrestle each other.
