My vote is for The Ultimate Warrior.  Raised in Crawfordsville, Indiana.  Went on to be a 2 time WWF intercontinental champ, and a 1 time WWE champ.   Hard to be 3 world titles !

If you are going with “professional wrestlers”, I have to go with Dick the Bruiser, “world’s most dangerous wrestler.  😀

P.s.  The Bruiser was born in Delphi, and he was a Green Bay Packers player, too.

Who need a program? Just download the IndianaMat brackets and be prepared!

Yes, but  my printer wasn’t working this week and I assumed they would either have a program or at least I’d be able to access Trackwrestling.  Live and learn.  Yes, I’ll definitely be downloading the IndianaMat brackets.  I usually do.  Thank you for providing that service.

Yep, Bet I know which one. 🙂   Cell service is spotty too. I have had them run out before in years past as well. I used to always print my own to take.  Now I just download the handy dandy IndianaMat brackets on my phone.  Be careful though, you become more popular there once the word gets out, plus the rankings included.  Well, to be fair, I am not that popular in the first place so.... HAHAHA!!

I guess I should be clear that I was NOT as Connersville.

Ford Center is going to be the best for fans. It's a mini Banker's Life. Very comfortable seats. Great views. Newer facility. It hosts the toughest semi state.

The only down side is the drive.

Fort Wayne to Eville 4.5 hours

Crown Point to Eville 4.5 hours

Lafayette to Eville 3 hrs 40 mins

Indianapolis to Eville 2 hrs 46 mins

Well, the drive IS a big downside.  What,  5.5 hours from Angola?  But it is not the only one downside.  A whole lot more people will need to spend an extra night or 2 in a hotel than they would if they could hold it in Indy.  Alas, Indy is apparently not an option.

Evansville, down in the pocket of Indiana is the most remote place in Indiana possible … aside from maybe Mt. Vernon.

But I understand the options for the IHSAA was/is apparently limited.  Too bad they could not hold it at maybe a university campus that was a bit nearer the state’s center of population.  But it is what it is.  I’m sure the Ford Center will be a good experience for those who are able to afford (money and time) to make the trip.

I’m going to spend my money to invest in a big screen TV so my family can have a better streaming experience.  😀

    Weigh-ins

Athletes can have a million weigh-ins

    Participation Points

    1 point for a dual

2 points for any event with 3 or more teams(duals or tournament) defined as a tournament further down

Each athlete can participate only participate in a maximum of 6 tournaments. This can be a jv tournament, conference tournament, local super dual, etc. An athlete is counted as participating whether they wrestle 1 match or 10 for that event. You can wrestle in an max of 18 duals, but usually it's split up 6 duals(6 points) and 6 tournaments(12 points).

The girls state series counts as a tournament, but only costs an athlete 2 points total whether they make it to state or just participate in the regional. The boys state series does NOT count as any points. Conference tournaments count as 2 points.

Technically, I don’t think it is “the BOYS state series” that does not count any points.  I think it is actually a coed event, isn’t it?

Excellent take on the mentality.  As coaches and parents we need to do a better job of teaching our young men & women it's ok to lose if it is making you better.

When my sons were in high school, they didn’t wrestle Greco much just because there weren’t very many opportunities to do so.  I don’t know if that has changed much since then.

Both of them placed at Greco State, each finishing 6th … out of 6.

Not to split hairs but.... Cathedral might be located in Marion County but they compete in the City and are apart of the City alliance.

I think blueandgold intended for the comparison to be with Marion County as a whole as opposed to just including the outer rim of the county.  For example, he included a wrestler from Cardinal Ritter as well.  And including Cathedral as part of “the city” is an artificial construct anyway.  Geographically, Cathedral is clearly not part of “the city”.

  9. Of course, it’s apples to oranges.  There’s a reason why the males and females don’t compete against each other at the higher levels.  Obviously, if someone says Sara Hildebrandt is Indiana’s Best, then they obviously aren’t seriously talking about literally all Indiana wrestlers.

While we're at it, did you know you have a 1 in 6 chance of being in the big pro roundball league if you're born in America and you're at least 7 ft tall? That's 1 in 6 for the population..not just roundball players

Yeah, I think I could have been an NBA player, too … if I had been 7’ … instead of 5’6” … and if I could dribble and shoot.
