  1. Yes, Andrae was pretty good. Thought I'd help you out with that missing comma Mr. Comma Splice.
  2. You can take A. Tsirtsis off of that list, he was scored on as a junior or senior, I can't recall which year, but it was to a wrestler from LC. Escobedo took a loss in Illinois to Gomez as a Junior or Senior as well, so he would have been scored on in that match. Howe and Micic I believe meet the 3 year criteria, however I know Howe had a close finals match as a sophomore, so he may have been scored on in that match, but leading up to that and then the following two years he was not scored upon.
  3. Your 2 pennies are funny, and way off base. My favorite part is the guarantee of him working out with all those monsters, clearly you don't know what that word means or Gelen and his family. Thanks for the laugh.
  4. Rise, for the sake of creating discussion, what would Reitz winning by pin last night do to your rankings if you were to update them today. I know his loss dropped him to I believe 5 after sitting on top for a while. Is he the top dog today after avenging his loss or do you consider the loss a sign of vulnerability and keep him in the 2-3 range? I realize rankings are all for fun and really based on your opinion, so I'm curious to hear what you think.
  5. At LaPorte, not sure about the second part of your query.
  6. Black took a lot of flack (the rhyme was unintentional) last year because of a certain coach of his talking him up and for the way he got to state, but make no mistake, he can wrestle. Do I see him pinning Reitz again if they wrestle, my guess would be no, but if he won again I wouldn't be shocked. I think the manner by which he won may have involved lucky circumstances but he puts in the work and his luck has been earned.
  7. I know CP is at Lowell today so might get to see Hughes/Schurg round 1. That would be worth the price of admission. Last time I saw them wrestle in a match they were in 6th grade and Schurg won by one. That loss was later "expunged" from the record by Coach Tucker!! Lol. I wish he was my coach, I could have benefitted from a lot of losses being expunged!!
  8. Ah yes, Cathedral is in the mix for sure, I'd say one very likely and 1 or 2 other possible. Nice catch.
  9. I believe we could have up to 3 teams with 2 champions, I think 3 from one team would be very unlikely. Penn, EMD, and Lowell are my guesses to get 2 each. Penn would be the least likely but I wouldn't be shocked if they pulled it off.
  10. Some of those NWI Times reporters are better than others. You set that bar too high Paulie!
  11. Yes, my compliments on a job well done on your updates. For those of us too afraid to battle the elements, it was much appreciated.
  12. I don't think I could care any less about one person's opinion. My feelings aren't hurt, but thanks for playing the game, bring something to the conversation or go away, either way I don't care.
  13. IHSAA Wrestling Reality: IHSAA Got Rid Of Team State = No Team State Tournament or Team State Champions Not everyone cares about this event, as difficult as it is for some to believe, it just doesn't hold the same luster. It's a good thing we live in America and CP and Merrillville are free to make the decision not to attend.
  14. When I did it on paper, I came up with 29-28, CP winning despite only winning 6 matches. In that initial prediction on paper I had CP getting a lot of bonus points. After thinking about it and realizing how much bumping has taken place in the past, I'll take Merrillville 30-27. In my initial prediction I gave CP 3 pins, and I don't think that Coach Maldonado will let that happen.
  15. Very nice post. Well thought out and you make very good points. I applaud you for providing supporting details and actually pointing out the flaws, rather than just complaining about why your team didn't get an invite.
  16. Ok but a loss nonetheless correct? In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter much, unless winning a conference team title is your goal for that team. They have several individuals that have potential to wrestle in Indy in February, nothing to worry about.
  17. GAT, I tried sending you a PM, but you apparently do not receive them, so I'll ask here. Has Portage ever been a part of the Al Smith? I thought they were in the past, but could be wrong. Where are you wrestling this week?
  18. Not sure why you quoted me, I too was right, 138 was won by Portage, again. So I'm not sure how you prove it was a toss up when he's won twice now. If you're looking for a pat on the back, then bravo to you, you correctly picked 152, and the back up beat Gonzalez, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  19. Nothing shocking about it, we're talking wrestling and I like to do that with my head and not my heart. I think that his prediction is reasonable and can agree with his logic for taking Swank at 152. Just because I busted his nuggets a little over something doesn't mean I have to disagree with everything he says, just trying to keep it about wrestling.
  20. Fair enough on Swank over Gonzalez, but I've seen Mcintosh twice this year and Manspeaker only once and would give Mcintosh the nod right now. It's 6 of one, half dozen of the other, we'll have our answer soon enough.
  21. I don't think you are far off here, but I'd say 138 is less of a toss up and 152 could go either way. Gonzales is much improved. With the Penn line-up you listed I think they win by 10 or fewer, but wouldn't be surprised if it was 7-7 and came down to bonus points.
  22. No disrespect to Shrewsbury, but I don't think he was an elite level recruit like Sliga or Micic. I honestly believe his willingness to fill in is what gave him the opportunity to complete at the Division 1 level and shows his true character. You need people who are willing to make sacrifices for the greater good, and have realistic views about their own ability.
  23. I guess I do, but not as easy as you make excuses. You are right, I'm the idiot, I'm the poster that people make sarcastic posts toward. If you're sitting at a poker table and can't identify the fish, you are the fish. Think about that.
