  1. With open enrollment that is now throughout our state why is recruiting a issue? Kids and famlies are now finding the best fit for them and serching out schools and programs as much as the under handed recruiting that I think is currently being claimed, so in todays world this is a non issue in my opinion! I think any private school in the past could by definition have been given a recruiting lable. As they have to advertise many ways to come up with their students, because of a lack of defined student base they had to find their students and cater to something sports, college prep, etc... to appeal to prospective students!!JMO 8)
  2. So your thinking it's ok for a 200lbs to wrestle a 285lbs? I see no more than a 10lbs seperation anywhere else but it's ok to let anyone over 185lbs to wrestle that 285lbs guy? ???
  3. 1) Tsirtsis 2) Sliga 3) Jackson 4) Willis 5) McKinley
  4. I agree that I see wrestlers with the lead getting called for stalling just because they seem to have the lead, and I understand stalling is stalling but I would like for the officals to make the other wrestler start opening up instead of forcing the wrestler thats in the lead to make mistakes. If a wrestler for instance is not riding the hips and the bottom is not attempting to get away I do not want to see a stall call just because he is on top with a lead. It is as if the bottom wrestler who is loosing is being rewarded, the rule does read he has to attempt to get away but alot of officals call the match according to the score!
  5. No I'm just old, but I've been there and done that middle aged thing already so I know what Josh has coming... ;D
  6. Wait till you hit middle age, lol... ;D
  7. Does anyone know who beat the Rushville kid at Hwt to get to the finals here?
  8. I think that Suter, Hall, Maggert, Stauffer all may have some input in what happens at the big show, and whoever the #1 & #2 that draws into the Merrilville semi state will have a tough draw because there #3 & #4 should be dangerous....
  9. Here we go 106 Boston, Micic 113 Brooks, James 120 Todd, Campbell 126 Ayersman, Crume 132 McKinley, Malloy 138 Jackson, Hartman 145 Tsirtsis, Corsaro 152 Richey, Reuger 160 Harvey, Johnson 170 Willis, Mappes 182 Lynde, Hurford 195 Sliga, Maurer (tough to leave Berry out) 220 Kral, Knura Hwt conflict of intrest, lol Good luck all, somebody make a fool of my picks...
  10. Willis defeats Decker, Mullins was a no show, and Cathedral's 3 unbeaten wrestlers Harvey 160lbs, Willis 170lbs & Bernard Hwt all go to 32-0...
  11. Angelafox, you lost me on the small school can't afford to wrestle the schools with ranked wrestlers part, lol (That's news to me) I did not know there was a cost assiocaited with wrestling ranked kids...I suggest you get your kids out to some tourneys after your high school season if your high school program does not provide your kids with quaility matches, but i would take a hard look at your school program and ask why such a soft schedule? Understand there are plenty of small schools with strong wrestlers, and most of them are made the same way the larger schools do it spring and summer wrestling ;D
  12. That's when you know the coaches, wrestlers, and teams are helping our sport, is when the janitor working the event gets caught up in the great atmosphere of last night and starts dancing to the delight of the crowd between matches as the music streamed through the gym...Whats not to like and enjoy about that??
  13. Only one problem with the last sentence of your statement, they are teenagers....lol
  14. Your speaking of what happened after the Hwt match with Cathedral vs PM, and from the outside I understand what you think you witnessed, but what you need to know is Bernard was a PM wrestler for 10 plus years and the crowd started booing him after the match as they see him as one that flew the coup. The coach of which you speak was in my opinion and (as the father of the Cathedral wrestler being booed) was just trying to keep the fans in the next upcoming match with his arm waving, but knowing this coach as I do i doubt he was asking the crowd to boo the offical!!! Just my opinion...
  15. I think your picking kids apart just for the sake of doing so, the PM 145lbs reaction after his win was probably the biggest display of emotion, but understand they are kids and I would much rather see them hyped and emotional than acting like robots. What makes this sport special is it is you and your opponent, and nobody to hide behind or to blame, and to get that huge win while having the fans screaming, booing or whatever their reaction stirs alot of emotion in many of these young men so give them a break and take into account their ages and the intense situation that moves them!! Understand what AJ is saying above, and put yourself in their position at 15 - 17 yrs old, even if you wrestled how many of us were in matches as intense as what we saw last night?
  16. The Cathedral 6-way Invatational starts at 8:30 and includes: New Castle, Culver, Connersville, Arlington, New Haven, and Cathedral.....
  17. Yes I do think he was stalling more than Wes because he did not attempt 1 takedown throughout the entire match! The 1st stall call was when he did not leave Wesley's hips for the 1st 1:10 of the 2nd period, and Coach Tonte did not seem to have a problem with either call because he dosen't promote stalling by his wrestlers. Although he is my son I tend to be more critical then a defender of him, but if your going to get on here and bad mouth a teenager than at least have your facts correct!! It's Donte (not Devante)by the way and he had over a minute to get a takedown in the 3rd period and never attemted one let alone got one, and what you call stalling in the 132lbs match was no different then what happened in the 160lbs match, and some call it mat awareness and the officals dictate alot of what goes on...Overall I thought the officals did a good job!!!
  18. First of all both wrestlers at Hwt was hit with stalling but the Perry kid had been hit earlier in the match, and it was not the last 30 seconds nor the last 45 seconds so you check the tape your promoting and try being accurate with your replay.. Falcons are tough and you cant take that away from them!!
  19. This is a discussion board so if you really feel a kid should be ranked state why and where you think he should be ranked on this thread or the rankings thread. Every kid that has a solid record cannot be ranked, so the question to ask yourself is has said wrestler beat any ranked wrestlers, and if not there is your answer. The people who do the rankings are not perfect but very very rarely have I seen a unranked wrestler show up at state and place, although there are exceptions. You'll notice on the ranking there is a noteable win area, and if your wrestler with his solid record has not wrestled anyone mentioned then again there is your answer....
  20. I have never seen Tyler Willis on his back and doubt very much it happens here Keith, lol I think there will several good matches although.....
  21. I think their dual meet scores against quality oppoents speaks for itself, and I'm not touting anyone, more like stating the obvious....We all know anyone can win on any given day also!
  22. Willis over Irick, Willis over McGinley@ 170lbs Ben Harvey over Belden@113lbs Gino Gillum over Bennet@ 152lbs Brian Harvey over Neibarger @ 160lbs Bernard over Janney@ Hwt
  23. Sorry my friend, I indeed missed your intent of sarcasm....
