  1. I looked him up just yesterday. He is at Iowa Central Junior College. He placed third in the nationals last year.
  2. UNO was already in trouble by not being in compliance with Title IX. Dropping football and adding soccer and golf will help them bring this closer. Dropping wrestling is still somewhat unexplainable. Coach Denney helps with fundraisers to help support his team. Coach Denney never wanted to go DI and this could be why AD Alberts decided to drop wrestling. The Board of Regents that controls the money also controls the money at University Nebraska-Lincoln and they really do not want their beloved Huskers to have competition for players/money from the little brother in Omaha.
  3. The Summit League does not have wrestling and football IUPUI and IUPFW are is the Summit league University of Nebraska at Omaha is keeping hockey as a D1 sport. The Summit Lugue doesnt have hockey. So I ask why dismantle the wrestling program? I know Coach Denney personally and there are very few people that have given as much to the sport as he has. Chek this out: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.themat.com%2Fsection.php%3Fsection_id%3D3%26page%3Dshowarticle%26ArticleID%3D23332&h=d8de9
  4. You can get to live wrestling at http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule and live stats at http://www.nwcaonline.com/nwcaonline/CompetitionResultColTourns.aspx?TournamentID=642 Mike Denny from UNO was my JV coach when I was in high school GO MAVS FEEZ
  5. I also started wrestling at 105 my freshman year. By the time I got to my JR and Sr years I was at 132. The reason I started wrestling is because it was the equalizer for me. I was small and it was the 1st sport where I didn't have to compete with all the 6 ft 180 pounders that bullied me on the basketball courts and football fields. If you eliminate the lower weight classes at the Varsity we also eliminate them at the JV level then a smaller wrestler is competing at an unfair advantage again. He would have to wait a couple years to be on the same level (physically) and the other wrestlers. Look at what we had at 112 this year, probably the most competitive weight class at state. The semis finals and final were nothing but awesome to watch. If you eliminate 103 these young men do not get that chance to grow into the sport. LETS STICK UP FOR THE LITTLE GUYS!
  6. Now you want the referee to be a Doctor as well as a referee? If the wrestler or coach wants an injury time out you want us to tell him no if we think he is just looking for a rest break? Just how does the referee determind that?
  7. Congratulations to all these men. I wish there was a way to introduce them for this just before the finals on Saturday night. Their parents and these schools should be proud of these men.
  8. Usually 1st and 2nd year officials are not considered for varsity wrestling. It takes 3 sectionals to be considered for regionals, 3 regionals to be considered for semi-state 3 semi-states to be considered for state. All athletic directors are sent ballots rank referees (many do not). Also the IHSAA considers it a privilege and severely underpays the officials. Many of the officials that have been doing it for years do not want the pressure or the B.S. that goes with it. I officiated a 4 way middle school meet last weekend and was done by early afternoon and made more money than the officials that were working the semi-states. For those who want to take the test we need more officials. Or just read the rule book.
  9. For those that think that people do not pay attention to what the coaches are wearing Enough said here: You really do dress for sucess. http://www.indystar.com/article/20110215/SPORTS02/102150321/For-some-prep-coaches-lot-goes-into-their-wardrobe?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|IndyStar.com|p
  10. What did you want the officials to do? They gave a stalling warning, obviously the top wrestler continued to stall. Bottom wrestler was attempting a reversal, in order to give a penalty point to bottom wrestler for top man stalling the match would have had to been stopped. Thus maybe stopping the potential reversal in progress. The only call that could be made was loss of control by top man therefore 1 point escape- end of time. Good call by the officials ! It was the only call they could make.
  11. This message was posted not by me last year. And it is appropriate going into all the semi states tomorrow. Good Luck to all wrestlers, coaches and yes Officials. A message to all seniors: Congratulations on completing your high school wrestling career. For most of you, you are officially finished with the sport. You have spent the last couple of years doing things that most normal kids your age simply do not do. You have busted your ass during countless workouts, cut the weight, sacrificed weekends, holiday meals, and probably been in a few battles on the mat. Be proud of your accomplishments, but more importantly be proud of the work you put in to achieve those accomplishments. In a few short months you will graduate high school, here is a news flash. The world does not care if you placed 1st or 5th at state. The world does not care if you were a semi state qualifier and lost in the ticket round. Hell, the world doesn?t even care if you were only a sectional qualifier. Those details do not matter to people outside of the wrestling community. What does matter is the values that you have learned in your time spent with the sport. Now is the time to put the same dedication and hard work into whatever new challenges come your way. Just as you wouldn?t expect your opponents to only go 50% on you in the big match, don?t expect the world to meet you half way. Luckily for you, you have an advantage compared to your peers. Through wrestling, you know what it is like to persevere through hard times and push on when you don?t think you can anymore. You know what it is like to sacrifice a large amount of time and energy in order to reach your goals. Wrestling is applicable to all aspects of life. In my few years away from the sport I have not met a challenge where wrestling has not helped me. Use wrestling as a catalyst for success in all other endeavors. Don?t let it end here. You have been doing something extraordinary for the past few years and don?t stop now. Don?t let that wrestling mentality fade and fall into mediocrity. I will never forget after state finals my senior year I told myself ?Thank god, I finally get to be NORMAL?. I quickly realized there is nothing worse in this world than accepting mediocrity. Wrestlers do not accept mediocrity and by no means are we normal. Wrestling is unique because it is not merely a sport, but it is a lifestyle. This is evident through the way you will still be referred to as ?A Wrestler? by your peers and family, even though you have officially hung up your shoes. This doesn?t happen in any other sport. Your friends used to play soccer and they were basketball players. You are a wrestler and always will be. Godspeed,
  12. Last year I was officiating a freshman match between Carmel and Brownsburg. The Carmel wrestler locked his hands I immediately gave the "locked hands' signal and waited for the delay call (to see if the Brownsburg wrestler could escape). Finally when he did not get the escape I blew the whistle and called the Carmel wrestler for locked hands and awarded the Brownsburg wrestler the point. At this time the Brownsburg wrestler looked at me and told me that the Carmel wrestler did not have locked hand that he had a hold his hand. I was giving him a point and he was arguing the call with me. Had to laugh
  13. He has to be there. He has a boat for sale!
  14. Look just as the assistant referee walks past the wrestlers and you can see top man reach over and lock his hands. Good call Tim Feez
