Are there medals for 1st - 8th?

This might be a stupid question, but what does mat-side weigh-ins mean? Do u weigh-in before each match, or do you weigh-in once, right before you wrestle your first match?

I have a son who was under the the lowest weight as a bantam and now is as an intermediate. I worry about him not being able to wrestle in high school because hes not gonna be an over weight kid. Every big tourney we go to the kids he wrestles are a foot taller. What will the lowest weight be by the time hes in high school?

I agree with you 100%. I was furious about not having medals for the top 8 placers.

How can you have a state level competition and not have medals for the top 8 placers?? If you only give medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, then you should announce that on the flyer. If I had known that I would have went to Columbia City.

I know Mat 6 ran terrible. It was way behind every other mat for some reason. My son waited over 3 hours between matches without a bye. My son was tired and frustrated with the 12 hour day. Is it possible to break it down over two days? Did it use to be like that? We have only been wrestling for a few years.

If girls wrestling was a good idea, then they would have the numbers to have their own sport. A girl should only wrestle another girl. -
Yeah, we had the same experience. Anything other than mat side pairing is ridiculous.

You need a HYWAY card to compete in HYWAY state or NUWAY nationals.

They haven't officially taken away team state yet. So why are so many people on here willing to give up on it?? Since we all agree that we need to try and keep team state going, lets focus more on ideas to keep it going and worry about what we can replace it with AFTER it actually gets taken away.

I agree that it comes down to money for the IHSAA, and I will be at team state with as many people as I can get to go with me and I hope that all of you will do the same.

We went to a team meet and we were the only school that had ALL kids from our school. To ensure the integrity of a true team state you have to keep schools from recuiting. Its not a club vs club competition, its school vs. school right? Showing a report card is a great idea. I think that a true team competition is a great idea though.

I just wanted to say that Nuway was an awesome experience for my son. Bringing the kids out and recognizing them by state, the trophies, and the award ceremonies were all unique and geared to making the kids feel special. Good job and we will be there next year.

Will we be able to see a list of who's pre- registered like we did for ISWA state? If so, when and where?

I was there for both days and all 3 styles also. Other than state, it was the best ran tournament we have ever been too. We had a great time and will be there next year!

I couldn't disagree more. If my 7 year old's coach isnt around we are asking to be skipped. At state they did that and all involved were happy to do so .

I agree. My son has had trouble all year with Jace who got 2nd and Koy who got 3rd. Makes me feel a little better that they both did so well at state. Hopefully next year we can place.

Bantam 45 has 30 something kids too. This is my first year at Folkftyle state, is there always so many kids are is this just a good turnout?

I never thought about that. We are new to wrestling. I dont care that he cant leave but why cant parents go back there? Especially with the real little kids.

Thet may be true but were talking about little kids here. Why should 5,6, and 7 year olds get treated like h.s. kids? Parents should be allowed back there. My kid was upset about it last year.
