  1. There's a reason you don't see too many people wearing them...it has nothing to do with availability.
  2. Anyone hear the comic relief from the Lowell suite during Hughes' championship match??
  3. Portage isn't exactly elderly. Portage 7 3 Sophomores 2 Juniors 2 Seniors Ticket Round Losses (2): 1 Freshman 1 Sophomore First Round Losses (1): 1 Sophomore

    EC

Rat, while I love your enthusiasm, the semi state champion Portage Indians are not Academy trained.
  5. All things considered, I thought EC ran the semi-state remarkably. For sure there will a couple things they can tweak, but holy crap the first two rounds were a million times better than Merrillville!!!
  6. Portage Varsity had already wrestled Crown Point Varsity at the Traicoff in December. If the strategy you're referring to is taking the opportunity to wrestle Oak Park River Forest (IL), St. Ed's (OH), Detroit Catholic Central, and St. John's (MI) instead of a team they face quite frequently, then maybe you're right. The dual with CP should be by itself on a Wednesday night anyway.
  7. Info Lady, what happens when a wrestler who should have indicated earning separation criteria, but they clearly didn't?
  8. Isn't a token of achievement a benefit to a student athlete that has clearly shown immense dedication?? If the wheel isn't squeaking, it won't get any grease.
  9. Squatters were RIDICULOUS. I was in line for the final session an hour before they opened the doors, and because of the "feel up" everyone was getting which took forever...I couldn't find 4 seats in the lower bowl. However, the JUMBO TRON was awesome. Better than sitting matside!!
  10. Wonder if Stevo has an agent yet? I bet Honey boo boo could hook him up.
  11. It is interesting and somewhat disheartening, this situation excluded, how little community allegiance is shown in so many cases these days. Lots of good programs losing kids for apparent greener pastures. It is awesome to see kids from small and relatively obscure schools making their presence known on the big stage. Nothing against big schools, they work hard and deserve what they get, but I have tons of respect for kids and parents who haven't lost their sense of loyalty and pride for their "hometowns."
  12. Bummer for Merrillville if true. Develop a kid into a stud...and then they move.
  13. Just heard that Merrillville is losing Steveson to Apple Valley?? Say it isn't so.
  14. Scholar, Your persistence is honorable! This is not a takedown. It looks like Molloy could have held this for a while and probably gotten a stalemate...maybe not, Walker could have popped his head and worked his arm around the waist and scored with a little more time, but he did NOT have a takedown here.
  15. Timing is irrelevant. Not a takedown. As someone else posted, the official (one of the best) got caught up in the moment in my humble opinion. The correct hand was raised. Very impressive handling of the gutwrenching situation in my opinion...Walker is a class act. If he is able to hit that fireman with about 10 seconds left...who knows!
  16. What about a webcast? I coach baseball, so i cant attend, but would love to see the clinic and receive the flash drive.
  17. Maybe he does, I really don't care. I'm not financially breaking the ISWA/USA Wrestling because I go to 2-3 HYWAY/NUWAY tournaments each year. Doesn't change the fact that to me, it's just another opportunity to wrestle. I will continue to support both, provided that they offer what I believe is a good product for a fair price. I'll say one thing, NUWAY Nationals has contracted some sweet venues the last couple of years. And what kid doesn't like the HUGE eagles?
  18. Does anyone remember the old saying..."If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all?" Maybe it's just me, but people sure do bitch and moan a lot any more. So a wrestling coach/community is giving kids another opportunity to compete and that's what they get..."better step up their game?" How about this, don't go. This tournament isn't going to replace the ISWA State Series, nor are they trying to. It's just another opportunity to wrestle.
  19. Too bad there's not a butt kissing contest for all the posters on this thread. That would be intense.
  20. Dinubus, I guess most of us don't have an axe to grind with anyone. It's just more opportunities for kids. I'd say most, if not all, HYWAY members are USAW members as well. Not sure how a little competition is such a bad thing. Most people like having choices...the HYWAY/NUWAY events I've been to were GREAT!
  21. I saw the match as well. The referee who made the call is one of the finest in the world. And if you don't believe me, just ask him. In all seriousness, I saw the look on the referee's face...he didn't want to make that call...but rules are rules. He saw the infraction and had to do it.
  22. "bigger wrestlers = equal bigger parents" Now that's funny.
