Khari loses 10-8 to Udit.

Can’t work out if Khari’s got no cardio or if he just keeps getting matched with these super charged Indian lightweights…

Good last second come back from him against the Kyrgyz though.

I've been out of the International loop for a little bit with the NCAA season going on.  When will Iran officially decide their Olympic representatives?

The undecided weights are 86 Kg and 97 Kg

For 86, they are waiting to see how Yazdani recovers from major surgery.  If he recovers well, it's him, if not, it will probably be a wrestle off between Ghassempour and Hadi Vaffaeipour.

In 97, I expect it to be Azarpira, now that Mohammadian lost to the Bahraini/Russian world championship.

If Yazdani does not recover well, and if Ghassempour can make weight at 86, I personally expect it to be Ghassempour.  Ghassempour vs Taylor would be a match of the Olympics.

Iran finished day 1 with 3 gold, 1 Bronze, and 1 5th place finish

Rahman, Yazdani and Nokhodi got the 3 golds, Mohammadian got the bronze in 97 kg.  Mohammadian did OK really, losing just to the world champion.

No, I wish I did.  Would love to watch it.

that throw at the end was kinda disrespectful lol

Taz clearly a level above unfortunately, curious to see how Azarpira would do

Atri gets teched in bronze match

Mohammadian wins bronze but his 8-2 loss to Taz further supports likelihood that Azarpira will be our guy at 97kg

Firouzpour wins gold and is looking like a solid 92kg contender. Ghasempour, Azimi and Firouzpour give us a lot of depth at 92kg

Zare is coming up but he will obviously win Gold

Iran 190 (5 gold, 8 medals)

Japan 130 (2, 5)

Kyrgyzstan 121 (1, 4)

Kazakhstan 118 (1, 4)

Mongolia 92 (0, 4)

Uzbekistan 85 (0, 3)

India 84 (0, 3)

Bahrain gets the 10th gold and 3 other medals...4 for 4 in medals from their import participants.

can see Pejman tearing into Amouzad at 13:53

berating him for letting Musukaev rest and for calling for a challenge in the first period (which was rejected and meant they couldn't challenge the clear singlet grab foul by Musukaev at the very end of the match)

I think we now have some clarity for the Olympics team

  • 86 -
    • If Hassan recovers, he goes
    • If not, and if Ghassempour can make weight, he will go
    • If not, then Vaffaie goes, no medal for Iran
  • 97
    • If Azarpira qualifies, then he will go
    • if not, no one goes :)

Iran so far has only qualified for 65, 86, and 120.  I think Iran will most likely qualify for 74 and 97,  It would be nice to qualify for 57 just to gain experience, no chance of medal

Esmaeili, Alizadeh, Saravi and Mirzazadeh win Gold

Dadmarz, Rostami and Garmsiri win Silver

Dehbozorgi and Mohammadi win Bronze

9 medals, only Abdi failed to medal (losing his Bronze match 4-3)

Iran wins the FS and GR Asian Championship team titles by large margins

Mohammadjavan teched in quarters by Mongolian.

Emami teched Korean.

Azarpria beats Yoshida 9-1. He looked terribly exhausted the entire match

Iran qualified for 74 and 97

i assume this settles the 97 representative

I think Iran can medal in the 5 weights that it has qualified for
