raider140
Thanks for the predictions. I always enjoy reading them and seeing who is at the different weight classes. At 132, Balsmeyer from Southridge has beat Deckard and Bartholomew this year. For Mitchell, Kirk was at 160 and Wade 220 this past weekend at Paoli. raider140
I have been corrected myself. Balsmeyer beat Deckard's brother, he did not wrestle the current Deckard who is at 132.

Jayemt9
Eckstein had a first period pin against Hayes in Dec. I see him stealing sectional crown away from Meyerholtz Saturday. I see Southridge team taking the sectional win with ease with most of the individual championships.
navy80
Regional Preview 106- Gardner will be waiting in the finals for the winner of Stephenson and Meyerholtz. Top 4- Gardner, Stehpenson, Meyerholts, Eckstein 113-Big first round match between Meyeholtz 32-12 and Rohbrach 27-3. Finals looks to be the veteran from Washington against the freshman from Bloomington North. Top 4-Mikulich, Wilson, Orman, Meyerholtz 120-Riddell 29-4 vs Sullivan 24-7 will be a barn burner. Don’t be surprised if B. North sectional sweep this weight class. Finals looks to be Cash vs Koenig for a sectional rematch. Top 4- Cash, Koenig, Graber, Sullivan 126-This could be a Bl. North sweep as well. Schroeder brings a 33-9 record first round against Tussey 24-6. Finals will be Hunt vs Cook. Top 4- Hunt, Cook, Lane, Schroder 132- Smith from Bl. North wins this weight with ease. Deckard from Edgewood had a rough sectional and will look to win first round against a tough freshman in Balsmeyer 37-9. Look for Bartholomew and Hensley to battle it out for 3rd. Top 4 Smith, Balsmeyer, Hensley, Bartholomew 138-Overall, 138 is a pretty deep weight class. Blubaugh from Bl. South will major whoever he faces in the finals. Foster from North Knox holds a 33-2 record and will have two tough matches to make it to the finals. Top four- Blubaugh, Foster, Dearing, Bradburn. 145-Webb wins this weight. Whoever wins between Heckman and Kane will face Wigang for a spot in the finals. Top 4-Webb, Wigand, Heckman, Fleck 152-Very talented weight class which should see a sectional final rematch from Aydelott 29-3 and Dalton 32-6. Don’t sleep on the talented sophomore Schank 40-5 to upset Dalton in the semi-finals. Burton 35-4 and PResson 21-16 will be a tough first round battle. Winner of this gets 4th. Top 4- Aydelott, Schank, Dalton, Burton 160-Finally a weight where Southridge winners could sweep. Bohnekamp looks to be the favorite to win but it’s possible for him to be upset first round against Ross from Bl. South. Those BS kids wrestle the hardest schedule around and their records don’t represent their ability. Top 4- Bohnenkamp, Smith, Miller, Buford 170-Wide open weight here…Each first round match could go either way! Top 4, Nunamaker, Creasey, Schlegel, Johnson 182-Hendrich and Dull are the top of the class here. Hendrich gets the win this time. Top 4- Hendrich, Dull, Williams, Coldren 195-Michel and Brown will meet for a rematch of their OT sectional final. Top 4- Michel, Brown, Barclay, Hardy 220-I’m going with Allgood to win this weight. Rivera 27-5 and Wade 28-1 will meet in the semi finals. Top 4- Allgood, Wade, Rivera, Wilson 285-Traditonally HWT’s are stronger but this year they seem to be down. Top 4- Moshak, Hillenburg, Kramer, Smith Edited February 5, 2017 by navy80

navy80
8 champs were predicted….not bad but there were several upsets with Gardner 106 and Aydelott 152 losing. Best regional showing goes to Freshman Seth Rohrbach of West Vigo 30-3. He beats a previous sectional champion first round 12-1. He then pins the kid who won his sectional last week! In the finals he beat a kid who has beaten him the last two weeks 2-5 and 2-7. Then Seth comes up with a HUGE OT win and gets the regional title. Second best showing goes to Tucker Schank from Southridge 43-5. The Southridge sectional didn’t fare very well yesterday and seen several of their #1’s get thumped by a #4. Schank pinned a very tough kid first match. Then wins a tight decision over a two time semi state qualifier Wyatt Dalton of Bl. North (34-7) and wins 5-2. In the finals Schank has Aydelott of Edgewood who is the defending regional champ, and a tick round from last year and who beat Schank in November 10-2! Schank wins in overtime 3-1 for his first ever regional crown. Biggest surprise goes to Cash from Bl. North. He was the clear favorite and I did not see what happened to him but he defaulted to 4th. Most bizarre.. Bohnenkamp Mitchel brought a 30-5 record and was the sectional champ. Ross of Bl. South came in at 18-21 and placed 4th at his sectional. BUT, Bl. South wrestles by far the toughest competition in this regional and their records are underinflated. Ross wins 4-2 and goes on and beats Weber of North Knox (28-8) 7-5. Weber beat Ross last week. Ross falls in the finals match 10-5 but showed why you should never overlook a poor record from Bl. South. BEST CHANCE TO PUNCH THEIR TICKET TO STATE 182- Dull: He will have two pretty decent matches but none are ranked and Dull “should” win by several. Hendrich: He will have a very tough Smith of Monrovia first round and the undefeated Sonner 41-0 in the ticket round. IF he gets past his first two matches look for his semifinal match to be winnable as well. Sonner is the real deal but Hendrich is a returning state qualifier and is a top 10 wrestler. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hendrich finishes 2nd and Dull 3rd at semistate. OR, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hendrich loses first round.. 106- Stephenson: What a time for this kid to turn it on! He has a great draw..He will meet the winner of Sego 29-2 and Scott 38-3 in the ticket round. Stephenson is a strong senior and both Sego and Scott are freshman. Sego is ranked but don’t sleep on Scott beating him first round. Stephenson is in my top 4 moving on. 152: Schank got a great draw…he will get the winner of McNutt 29-11 and Thomas 36-5. For comparison, Aydelott beat McNutt 4-1 and 5-2 and he beat Thomas 16-6. Schank has got to be feeling very good about his draw and avoiding Bethel. 145: Webb will be in the ticket round. HE will meet up with Coyle of Center Grove who brings a 33-3 record. This should be a barn burner and the winner should make the finals. It’s a shame these two have to meet up so early. They are both ticket rounders from last year and both ranked this year. 138: Blubaugh will have to get past the always tough Mater Dei kid and then meet up with Schoenegge of Col. East in the ticket round. Blubaugh has battled top ranked Black 10-3, Sellmer 3-2, Manspeaker 8-6, Hicks 3-2, and Davis 5-2. For comparison purposes…Schonegge also lost to Hicks 5-2 and Sellmer a few times by a point. This is another case of why do they have to meet so early? 126: Smith from Bl. North who is a move in from California has a good draw. He avoids the tough Miranda in the ticket round and Luigs and Combest in the semifinals. HE will battle the former state qualifier Noah Franklin 38-2 in the ticket round. IF he can get past Franklin, his path to the finals gets a little (just a little) easier where he will likely see Campbell from Ben Davis. 195: Michel: How good is he? HE brings a 46-2 record into semi state and has a pretty good draw. He will likely meet up with state qualifier Goforth from Indian Creek 32-5 in the ticket round where anything can happen. But first, he has to get past the very tough Smith from Jeffersonville who brings in a 40-9 record as a 4th place finisher.

backtothemat
Good stuff Navy. A couple adds: Smith, Franklin, et. are 132lbers, not 126 (I know you know that). Smith is legit. He breezed to the finals at Mooresville before falling to Bailey (like everyone else). McNutt beat Schank in OT earlier this year at 152. But Schank had no gas tank at the time. Don't sleep on Sego or Scott at 106. I see either beating Stephenson at 106. Couldn't agree more on your 182lb preview. 145 at Evansville may seem to be boring (Brayton Lee being a "lock"). But no less than 8 other wrestlers have a decent shot at finishing 2nd-4th.
navy80
Wow...this regional was weak but proved to be much stronger getting 7 to state. A few more like Cash, Blubaugh, Webb, and Smith are state worthy. Southridge came up big today. Michel is 48-3 and never ranked in semi state this year...he is underrated and very strong. Schank with a takedown at the buzzer to punch his ticket. Zane Sullivan from Edgewood with a huge upset over Denny of Monrovia. Hunt B. South big win over Mater Dei's Lee in the semi finals. Stephenson 106 with a OT win over Sego to punch his ticket. Dull and Hendrich both punch their ticket again and both wrestle for 3/4 Again. Hendrich does the unthinkable and beats 42-0 Sonner. Looked really good. Then had a very winnable match against Franklin's Moore and was going through the motions. Same with Dull, seemed to take his match with Walton with little offense and that big throw or takedown never came. I think both of these kids place next week though. Coach Brobst
I'm not certain Sullivan over Denny is a huge upset. Denny is surely good, but Sullivan outplaced him at the Holiday classic this year and has been extremely good this year. Denny will bounce back and be in the thick of it again next year for sure.
