Y2CJ41
According to the selection criteria in 3A shouldn't the third spot have been between Cathedral and Carroll? Per the last updated standing those were the only two teams supposed to be considered unless something changed between then and now.
Coach McCormick
When Merrillville declined their position, Penn became the automatic Merrillville semi-state bid. The next position that became available due to this shift went to Cathedral. Cathedral accepted their invitation/bid earlier this week. This is where the selection committee began as it went through the selection process to fill the final two positions in 3A.
maligned
Right...and just to clarify further, the 3rd and 4th positions were between Carroll, Bloomington South, Mater Dei, and Mishawaka because of the score threshold being lowered when Carroll became the first available team after Cathedral shifted into automatic status. maligned
So to be selected move in everyone u can after a down year as a team Not sure what this means, but just to be clear for people new to the selection process: 6 teams qualify automatically based on their earning of points during the individual state series, using a point system designed to project how good the team will be as a dual meet team next year. Then, the final 2 bids in each class are voted on by the selection committee from among the next few highest scoring teams, based on which teams seem to have the strongest chance at being very good next year. MattM
Here again is Maligned's final breakdown. For those who do not keep up with this it is based mostly on Junior-Freshman results during this years state tournament series, to help predict more accurately the talent level a team will possibly participate in next years events. Here is the long version of how the system works: http://indianamat.com/stuff/IHSWCADualsStateFinalsSelectionProcedures2013.pdf It's not going to be a perfect predictor, nor a true replacement for the old Team State Dual Series, but it a darn good system based on the situation we have been given to work with. It is also worth noting that some of the positions and wild-cards get shuffled around if a automatic-bid team decides to decline the invitation. 3A Summary Semi-state representatives: Merrillville, Perry Meridian, Franklin, East Noble 1st and 2nd wildcards: Penn, Warren Central Eligible for 3rd and 4th wildcard voting: Cathedral, Carroll Eligible for 4th wildcard voting only: Bloomington South, Mishawaka, Evansville Mater Dei 2A Summary Semi-state representatives: Yorktown, Twin Lakes, Lebanon, Danville 1st and 2nd wildcards: Leo, Western Eligible for 3rd and 4th wildcard voting: Heritage Hills, Culver Academies, New Haven, New Prairie, Jimtown, Hanover Central, North Montgomery, Delphi, Peru, Fairfield, Evansville Memorial 1A Summary Semi-state representatives: Bremen, Fremont, South Putnam, Clinton Central 1st and 2nd wildcards: Adams Central, South Adams Eligible for 3rd and 4th wildcard voting: Woodlan, Churubusco, West Central, Cass, Manchester, Central Noble, Prairie Heights, Triton Central, North Knox Eligible for 4th wildcard voting only: Eastside *-team's final score adjusted due to top level underclassman being injured before sectional ##-team is eligible for both 3rd and 4th wildcard voting #-team is eligible for 4th wildcard voting (several schools that have no effect on who qualifies have not been moved to their new classifications and re-scored) AAA: Merrillville 386.43 (semi-state representative) Perry Meridian 375.82 (semi-state representative) Penn 371.42 (1st wildcard) Warren Central 345.25 (2nd wildcard) Indy Cathedral 339.76 ## Franklin 336.52 (semi-state representative) East Noble 323.85 (semi-state representative) Carroll (FW) 315.54 ## Bloomington South 300.60 # Mishawaka 291.18 # Ev. maligned
http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,25569.0.html That's the link to final scores. New pal was next in line for voting. Connersville was further back with only 6 starters returning. All other 3a teams that qualified have 8 to 13 starters coming back. The only 2 teams with less than 10 were top 5 teams this year with multiple state placers and at least 6 semi state or better coming back.
