When Merrillville declined their position, Penn became the automatic Merrillville semi-state bid.  The next position that became available due to this shift went to Cathedral.  Cathedral accepted their invitation/bid earlier this week.  This is where the selection committee began as it went through the selection process to fill the final two positions in 3A.

Right...and just to clarify further, the 3rd and 4th positions were between Carroll, Bloomington South, Mater Dei, and Mishawaka because of the score threshold being lowered when Carroll became the first available team after Cathedral shifted into automatic status.

So to be selected move in everyone u can after a down year as a team

Not sure what this means, but just to be clear for people new to the selection process: 6 teams qualify automatically based on their earning of points during the individual state series, using a point system designed to project how good the team will be as a dual meet team next year.  Then, the final 2 bids in each class are voted on by the selection committee from among the next few highest scoring teams, based on which teams seem to have the strongest chance at being very good next year.

Here again is Maligned's final breakdown.  For those who do not keep up with this it is based mostly on Junior-Freshman results during this years state tournament series, to help predict more accurately the talent level a team will possibly participate in next years events.  Here is the long version of how the system works: http://indianamat.com/stuff/IHSWCADualsStateFinalsSelectionProcedures2013.pdf  It's not going to be a perfect predictor, nor a true replacement for the old Team State Dual Series, but it a darn good system based on the situation we have been given to work with.  It is also worth noting that some of the positions and wild-cards get shuffled around if a automatic-bid team decides to decline the invitation.

That's the link to final scores. New pal was next in line for voting. Connersville was further back with only 6 starters returning. All other 3a teams that qualified have 8 to 13 starters coming back. The only 2 teams with less than 10 were top 5 teams this year with multiple state placers and at least 6 semi state or better coming back.
