TurdBurgler
Congrats to Vinny Corsaro on getting second and pinning 10th ranked Nick Roberts. Although losing a slim decesion to kieffer he dominated the field at 135 today. Congrats!

robref
Worse group of officials I've EVER seen at a SS meet! Most of them were HORRIBLE! so, we can expect you to get ceritified and save the world one match at a time next year...right. Might be time for you to throw on the stripes and taste just a bit. 11 of the 12 officials are doing, or have done several State Finals. The most inexperience official has only been doing it for 10- years. Personally I dont think any of them owe apologies for anything. It was a very competitive Semi-State, all day long. I heard from several scorers & time keepers that the people that were being escorted out, were "several time" offenders. Seems like the pattern of "Bad Officiating" only happens when Your kid gets beat! 8)

kristiross
I have to say the officating was NOT good even in the 1st match and Guess what.. We did win. So it is not always if they loose. Im not sure that I have ever heard or seen so many upset fans and wrestlers that day regarding officiating. With two refs per mat, I would think things would be different... In my personal opinion I believe that Semi State needs to be in another location. Or at least alternate with another venue. The parking lot was one sheet of ice and I saw two elder women fall down, One was taken to the hospital. I do like the fact they have a lot of restrooms. The concession stand is not equip to serve that amount of people, and the selection was slim....... and OMG did you see the $1 program books. I couldn't read the writting and I have 20/20 vision. But I used my handy dandy Magnify....lol It was very hard to find the trainer before the matches started, and once we did, there was one and he/she was backed up... we actually waited in line to buy a $10 WRISTBAND for 30 minutes. Maybe another person helping in that area would be great. The seating capacity seems to be good, but for those older fans, or wheelchair fans, it becomes a very difficult process to get seating. Congrats to those moving on to state!!

hoosiercamper
anyone else see the match? This guy sounds like a kieffer fan ! ff It was a great match, but I agree Kieffer got robbed!!! Talked to his dad and the coaches or the wrestlers did not know that there was an extra 5 seconds that the officials were counting after the clock ran out. Probably should have been an OT, but the officials are only human. Can you imagine 2 overturned calls on the same mat in the same day? Not sure if it was the same refs that were doing the Harvey matchup earlier. It would have been great to see all 3 of the Kieffer wrestlers at Conseco!!!! There is no way a better location as far as seating at a high school level that can seat 9500 spectators. Even if you are elderly or in a wheel chair you can see quite well from the top. The place used to put up temporary bleachers for high school basketball games. They even held the wrestling state finals there one year. There are 4 different concession stands and more needed to be open but the concessions are not designed to serve full meals. Mostly popcorn, cokes, and candy. New Castle does have several fastfood joints within a mile or so of the school. Mc Donalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Arby's and Subway to name a few. The parking lot issue would likely be a one year issue as we all had an ice storm that dumped an inch and a half of ice. With the schools on tight budgets, I could see many parking lots looking this way. The week of regionals several schools missed classes do to their school grounds(parking lots) being covered in ice. Merlin189
I have been to many different wrestling venues, and there is no better place to watch than New Castle. Pretty much ever seat in the house is good. The only thing that needs to be fixed is those dang basketball hoops. There always blocking the clocks. I sat all the way at the top with a foldout chair and had great view of all the wrestling
robref
People shouldn't worry so much about what other people do. MYOB.. I'd offer the same suggestion to you. Just clap and enjoy the show next time. This is an open forum that you chose to post very negative view towards something you may not know much about. These ref's have worked very hard to get where they are. Dont get me wrong, I understand that you payed to get in and part of being an official is getting yelled at, but it would've been just as easy for a ref to post how stupid some of the crowd was. Why bother.
ronnyg
While I dont agree with some of the calls made (not saying I am right just my judgment was different), I will give the officals a pat on the back for being able to take the criticism well. I witnessed a few outbursts by coaches that could have resulted in them being ejected. I know an athlete being ejected must miss next game but do coaches also?? If so there would be a few coaches from New Castle SS missing this weeks State if the officials hadn't been thick skinned. So I do applaud them for that! coachi123
In my eyes there should be a few coaches gone for this weekend. I put myself in the places that Roncalli and Cathedral coaches did and I would have been hand cuffed. It is obvious that a few coaches can cross the line with no consequence at all. Nothing personal against all Cathedral coaches but last I checked running on to the mat for any kind of situation was an ejection. Must be nice to have the big man in your pocket because the rest of us would be going home this weekend for mis conduct and are wrestler DQ. Kristi, I don't no if I would have ran out there, but I would have been a bear to deal with. I still think your awesome!

In our pre-tourney meeting with the coaches (at New Castle SS), we know Semi-State is a very competative tourney, but try to keep your emotions to a normal level when discussing anything at the table with the officials. We usually will be equally as professional. It usually goes in one ear and out the other...lol so we give them the benefit of the doubt an usually give a warning. This usually stops, or at least calms the kaos a bit.
