  1. I worked the New Castle Semi-State.....Most of the coaches had good questions, which I probably changed 3 or 4 of my calls after consulting my assistant. We cant always see everything, so I love to have the extra set of eyes. Some officials dont want it unfortunately .
  2. I'd go for that! Make it a 2 Day Event. It would probably make a ton of money as well.
  3. Amen, Brother....Amen! That would stop most of the griping about the officiating. They make the whole uniform for officials in all sizes, but having the balls to actually do it.....well they are harder to come by !!!!! :
  4. Great, I just bought a new draw kit with all the old weights on them.......I guess I can put it with the gray officiating shirts they told us 2 yrs ago to get. Just my luck! ???
  5. I agree here. I think PM walks to the Finals. MD beats CP by a handful and wins in finals by 10 or so. ;D :-*
  6. so your answer is just not call it if we dont feel it happens with under 20 seconds left? I try not to even watch the clock when officiating. I dont even like to know who the kids are or their records. It makes it much easier to stay focused on just reffing the match.
  7. I think the Welch family (Castle) might disagree.......they've seen top notch competition all year long. 8)
  8. In our pre-tourney meeting with the coaches (at New Castle SS), we know Semi-State is a very competative tourney, but try to keep your emotions to a normal level when discussing anything at the table with the officials. We usually will be equally as professional. It usually goes in one ear and out the other...lol so we give them the benefit of the doubt an usually give a warning. This usually stops, or at least calms the kaos a bit.
  9. of course that is our main agenda.....to help the big schools win......right. When we've got a match that competative, the school they're wrestling for is the complete LAST thing on our minds.
  10. I'd offer the same suggestion to you. Just clap and enjoy the show next time. This is an open forum that you chose to post very negative view towards something you may not know much about. These ref's have worked very hard to get where they are. Dont get me wrong, I understand that you payed to get in and part of being an official is getting yelled at, but it would've been just as easy for a ref to post how stupid some of the crowd was. Why bother.
  11. From the floor looking up, it looked very full in the 1st 2 rounds, then there were fewer people as the day went on. My experience in Evansville is usually just the opposite, no one is there for the 1st 2 rounds, but it fills up for the Finals.
  12. so, we can expect you to get ceritified and save the world one match at a time next year...right. Might be time for you to throw on the stripes and taste just a bit. 11 of the 12 officials are doing, or have done several State Finals. The most inexperience official has only been doing it for 10- years. Personally I dont think any of them owe apologies for anything. It was a very competitive Semi-State, all day long. I heard from several scorers & time keepers that the people that were being escorted out, were "several time" offenders. Seems like the pattern of "Bad Officiating" only happens when Your kid gets beat! 8)
  13. I'm guessing they're finished with the National Anthem and calling captains to the center for the flip. ???
