samaj
remember forever that this is the school that Nike's Phil Knight has given more than 300 Million dollars to (over the last ten or so years) and they dropped wrestling in a "cost cutting" measure two years ago. No wrestling fan in their right mind would EVER root for Oregon in any sport. Want to see something even more nauseating (spelling?), google search the new basketball arena and the new basketball floor. If they had 3 football uniforms instead of 7, they could afford the support the wrestling program! They have 7 helmets! Thats 6 more than they need...or 600 more helmets that they need. And those helmets are approximately $225 each. Thats $135,000 in "alternate" helmets. Talk about a "testament to your wealth"!
H1N1
Amen brother!!! cardsfan1854
But, if I'm right.. Auburn doesn't have wrestling either ???
grecoref
Auburn had good wrestling in the late 70's, early 80's. They even hosted the NCAA's in the early 70's. I had a similar conversation last night with a couple of other guys. LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and Clemson all had wrestling programs at one time. Florida's program was the first to go. They hired a new football coach, Charlie Pell, who told the AD the wrestling room would make a great weight room and the program was dropped just like that. Other schools in the south followed suit. Charlie Pell left Clemson for the Florida job and between both jobs he set like an NCAA record for recuiting violations. Mr. RIght
How mad is Cam Newton going to be when he goes to the NFL and has to take a pay cut? Whose going to give him a bigger signing bonus Auburn or the NFL team that signs him?
