  1. I’ll check with ours. Thanks!
  2. Coach do you know if they are notifying all schools? I have not heard anything yet.
  3. If that is the case, they need to notify the host regional, and they will alert the rest of the participants.
  4. According to the rules, if all teams practice Friday, no additional weight allowance will be given..seems kinda silly if you miss practice all week but practice Friday not to have additional allowances though
  5. Depends on if teams can practice Friday. If they are out Friday, I believe the max they would get would be 2 pounds so 106 would be 110. If all school are able to practice, then no additional weight would be allowed.
  6. Do we get bonus points if it is already listed?
  7. I’m guessing the forfeits will be it. I can’t see the IHSAA making and changes right now. Guess we will see in the morning.
  8. I was looking at the Southport sectional brackets and didn't see Washington listed in either weight class?
  9. The only reason I can see this happening, The wrestler did not qualify for the 152 weight class and had to move up to 160. We had a situation come up at our seed meeting similar. A team had a 120 who weighed in too low that week so it wasn't a qualifying weigh in. The wrestler was injured and the rest of his weigh ins were above 120. The wrestler couldn't go 120, but a forfeit was entered at 126 so the wrestler wasn't allowed to go there either. To me, the kid should be allowed to wrestle at 126. I do understand not wanting to open that can of worms, but I would rather open it and let the kid wrestle than make him sit on the sideline.
  10. Bryer Hall from South Dearborn wrestled 126 last year and is at 145 this season.
  11. Wrestlers do have to have a to make a scratch weight at the weight class they compete in for the sectional. They may not compete in that weight class on the day they make it, but that isn't the rule. Getting off topic just a bit, but the weight rule is something that needs to be looked at IMO. I have two thoughts. First, give the two pounds the first half of the season, and then remove it after Christmas. The IHSAA wants kids to be safe with their weight. This would allow wrestlers time to work down to their desired weight class and be safe while doing so. By Christmas time, wrestlers should have their weight management under control. My second thought is instead of saying a wrestler's minimum weight is 113, and if he weights 112.9 it doesn't count, just make it the wrestler has to make weight for the weight class. Then we don't run in to kids trying to drink water to add a few tenths right before weigh in to make sure they are at the correct tenth. Just a few thoughts.
  12. Cody had hurt his shoulder and defaulted to fourth at semi-state and the coaches and him discussed wrestling at state and chose not to compete with his future, at the time, being in Minnesota.
  13. Also at the EIAC, Otto from SD (106) lost to Tanner Busch of East Central, and then Busch lost in the finals to Andrew Merritt of Franklin County. At heavyweight, Josh Berger of Northeastern has beaten Zach McQueen of Connersville twice this year. McQueen's only two loses.
  14. I think this is also important. Coaches need to keep an open mind. Yes we all want our wrestlers to advance the furthest they possibly can, but we also need to be realistic. I think my point can be proven years ago when one of the Keiffer brothers and Brandon Wright were the #2 and #3 seeds because the #1 was the returning sectional champion in that weight class. I don't think you can argue strength of schedule because it is not the kids fault that they wrestle who they wrestle.I'm sure we all know of kids who come in with stellar records and higher seeds and then lose early in the tournament or do not advance. I think that goes back to the coaches keeping an open mind when seeding wrestlers. Also after a seed has been placed, the whole criteria for seeding starts over again.

  16. Makes me want to strap up and wrestle! Great video!
  17. I think the forum was about who the undefeated wrestlers are at this point in the season, not whether or not they should or shouldn’t be seeded wherever. Hard to say a kid who is undefeated shouldn’t be the number one seed. Thankfully seeds don’t mean squat, and that’s why we wrestle. Good luck to anyone who gets to compete tomorrow. Be safe.
  18. The EIAC has been postponed until Monday.

  24. They had to redraw four weight classes because of forfeits. I believe every weight class had at least one change but many weights had multiple changes so the brackets would be are to have accurate from the beginning. I will be more than happy to post pictures of the brackets tomorrow morning when we get there. I spoke with the Connersville coaches and they are optimistic that this tournament will be on track next year. Fingers crossed.
