  3. The magazine is a legitimate way for the folks who run this site to add a few extra dollars to put into the site's kitty. We have the benefit of visiting a free (to us) site that presents a lot of great info on the sport that we all love. Their fee of $15 for the pre-season magazine is quite modest, and their decision to not post the rankings online yet is very reasonable. There will be plenty of rankings (again, for FREE) on here all season that will be a result of their hard work and dedication. We can all appreciate and thank them very much for what they do.
  4. I would guess three of the slots would be filled by Blake Mauer at 130, 145 and 171 . . .
  5. Yes, it was amazing. I hope that some of the former wrestlers that might be serving in the military got to watch it!
  6. Will any of the feeds support iPads? Flowrestyling does not.
  7. Franklin Community's Bob Hasseman has 3 former wrestlers now coaching their own state qualifiers as head coaches in this year's tournament. Indian Creek's Pat Dowty, Edgewood's Greg Ratliff and of course Mishawaka's Bryce Hasseman all wrestled for Bob Hasseman at Franklin. I'm sure this is nothing new, but it would be interesting to hear of others with similar coaching trees alive and well in this year's tournament.
  8. I agree with decbell's statement. While Franklin defeated Bloomington South in a dual meet at state duals, Bloomington South deservedly won semi-state. Bloomington South took 12 into semi-state, including 6 seniors. Franklin took 8 in, including 2 seniors. That was to South's credit, and Franklin's loss . . . The Franklin fans and Bloomington South fans sat next to each other; I'm sure it wasn't planned that way. Franklin and Bloomington South have had some tremendous duals through the years. While I have never "liked" Bloomington South, I respect their program very much. Hearing some of the background on some of their kids (like Galvin) makes me respect them even more. Congratulations to them, and good luck to all this weekend.

  18. Don't know what Franklin "supporters" you are referencing . . . In one of the other threads, "maligned" stated that KY wrestling isn't as deep as Indiana's. My guess is that they meant that, for example, the #10 team in IN, or the #!0 individual in IN, would be better than their corresponding numbers in KY. If that is the comment to which you are referring, it was made by someone who is not a Franklin "supporter", nor do I think he/she is a New Pal supporter. Regardless, it won't be disproved by one tournament victory. Franklin has gone to Mater Dei for years, and is very familiar with the quality of wrestlers from Union County, Trinity and St. X. I think your comment sells the Union County kids short, because I don't think they need a comment off a message board to make them wrestle harder. They've always wrestled pretty hard as it is . . . I agree with the rest that the addition of New Pal and West Belleville, IL added to the quality of wrestling significantly and made an already great tournament even better. Congratulations to Union County for their well-deserved win.
  19. Franklin has their own Super Six the same weekend as Bellmont, Jan 5th. Penn came down to the other Franklin Super Six last year (Franklin won), but Franklin had to not schedule that this year to free up the matches for the state tournament last week. With all due respect, I think Franklin would win 8 or 9 matches if they wrestled this year. I also think Franklin would get more bonus points than the above scenario allowed for, especially at 106, 160 and 182. It's too bad that the teams in the winner's bracket didn't get to wrestle a round robin, like at the Traicoff. That extra match would've allowed Penn and Franklin to wrestle . . .
  20. Yorktown will be at Franklin's Super 6 on January 5th.
  21. DJ Smith at 106 and Jacob Stevenson at 152.
  22. Didn't Macke and Scott lose in the semi's to Escobedo and Tsirtsis?
  23. 24. Franklin 82 - Munster 0 Franklin over Valpo Franklin 49 - Westfield 13 Franklin 34 - Crown Point 28 Franklin 30 - Portage 21
