  1. I dont think the jump from 160 to 215 is that big of a deal... Knura went from 171 sectional qualifier to 215 4th in the state in one year. Reese can probably out wrestle all of those bigger guys.
  2. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kentuckywrestling.com%2Fposts%2F628%2Fblue-raider-blog-justin-cooper%2F&h=9f70d Each week a blog is posted by a wrestler on the team this weeks entry is by former indiana wrestler Justin Cooper
  3. Lindsey Wilson College has finalized their recruiting class which includes a few Indiana guys. http://www.lindseyathletics.com/sport/15/35.php You guys can also search for Lindsey Wilson College Wrestling on Facebook and our coach post videos almost daily of our training.
  4. Justin Cooper from Whiteland Sophomore year got beat beat by Hasseman in the regional finals and drew Maurer in the round to go. He beat the 3rd place finisher at state that season. Hasseman and Maurer got 1st and 2nd Junior year lost to Orrin Klienheinz from Columbus North 6-5 in the round to go. Orrin went to to win state and beat his finals opponent 11-5 Senior year 32-0 ranked #2 and got DQ'd the match before sectionals and couldn't wrestle. Beat many state place winners from that year including Barnhizer who placed 3rd. He was also a Fargo All American
  5. I just came across his post, It would be interesting if it is the same official but i am not sure how to figure that one out. You would think that an official in the state finals would know and understand the rule book.
  6. The same referee made a call at the semi state that may have cost a wrestler a chance at the state finals... with 7 seconds left in a match and the score tied 2-2 and the bottom man belly down doing nothing he calls bottom man for stalling and stops the match and brings them back to the middle for a restart, and the bottom man escapes with 1 second left. It clearly states in the rule book that you do not stop a match for the bottom man stalling. Terrible terrible call, I wish the best of luck to South Adams on fighting this one, but i know from experience when an official makes a bad flagrant misconduct call, they will not look at the tape and they will not even consider changing their call no matter how wrong it may be
  7. realwrastler160: Just stop arguing the call... its over he got 4th at state as a sophomore that is a great accomplishment. He had a good run and hopefully he can do just as good next season. As for the Locking hands call.... Here is the deal it was either no take down at all or they had to call the take down and locking hands. Knura had enough control for it to be ruled a take down, however he also had his hands locked around his opponents legs. Therefore the take down was signaled first becuase you cannot call locking hands without one person being in the bottom position. The two things simultaneously happened therefore its the correct call.
  8. How was this ridiculous? I mean it was clearly locking hands even though its around his legs, locking hands is locking hands. Keith had a great year, I would have never expected to see him do so good. Im pretty sure he didnt make it out of sectionals last year at 171 and now hes a 4th place finisher at 215 thats incredible
  9. 2002 vs 2006 Individual State Champions Let me start by saying its really hard to compare wrestlers from differnt eras becuase Indiana wrestling has changed alot in the last 10 years, and in my personal opinion it has gone down. Yes there are great wrestlers now, but there was at one time Great depth at every weight class, and that is now gone. 2002 vs 20006 Nick Hartman (47-0) vs Josh Harper(47-0) Hartman dec. Harper 3-0 Ill take Hartman over the freshman here Angel Escobedo(58-0) vs Danny Coyne(36-1) Escobedo maj. Coyne 7-0 Angel is well.... Angel Clint Palmore(43-3) vs Javier Salas(40-1) Palmore dec. Salas 10-0 Palmore and Salas would be a great matchup but ill give it to Clint becuase he beat another Indiana great in the finals.. Coughlin Hector Mendez(48-5) vs Eric McGill(46-1) McGill dec. Mendez 10-3 Alex Tsirtsis(59-0) vs Alexander Warren(37-0) Tsirtsis Maj. Warren 14-3 TSIRTSIS!! Jason Cook(48-0) vs Matt Irwin(45-0) Irwin dec. Cook 14-6 Great matchup could go either way Danny Williams(35-3) vs Andrew Howe(51-0) Howe dec. Williams 14-9 Blake Maurer(43-1) vs Chad Biddle(41-2) Maurer dec. Biddle 17-9 Maurer is just too good for Biddle to hang. Michael Escobedo(50-0) vs Kurt Kinser(47-0) Escobedo dec Kinser 20-9 Two great Indiana wrestlers but I think Escobedo had better wrestling ability, Kurt Man handled everyone but I see Esco in a close on here Chris Cooper(47-0) vs Paul Young(49-0) Cooper dec. Young 23-9 Paul young ended his career with better credentials but Cooper was too BIG to Strong and to Good at riding legs to lose (remember he beat Alex Dolly and Daniel Bedoy on his way to the championship Jason Woodson(45-4) vs Ian Hinton(42-0) Hinton dec Woodson 23-12 (IDK how these two could have been the same weight.. Woodson was HUGE he probably could win the match on atheticism but Hinton may be a better wrestler. Nathan Moore(50-0) vs Taylor Vieck(38-0) Moore maj. Vieck 27-12 Easy one here Moore may have gotten a pin he was just a superior wrestler, and he could easily match Vieck strenght and size. Jake O'Brien(38-4) vs Pat Day(46-2) O'brien dec. Day 30-12 O'Brien had 4 loses on the year but im pretty sure they were all inj defaults, or loses to Moore. Jeremy VanAlstyne(27-2) vs Dexter Larimore(41-0) Larrimore dec VanAlstyne 30-15 This would probably be a better match than most expected since VanAlstyne came out of no where really. But Jeremy was a great leg rider and most heavyweights cant stop it, but Larrimore wins this one because of his size and strength
  10. 103: Levi Moss (Ben Davis) 112: Jared McKinley (Perry Meridian) 119: Neal Molly (Danville) 125: Ethan Raley (Indian Creek) 130: Devon Jackson (Yorktown) 135: Brock Norton (Ft. Wayne Carroll) 140: Matt Milton (Center Grove) 145: Doug Welch (Castle) 152: Chad Welch (Castle) 160: Trey Reese (Indian Creek) 171: Drake Stein (Princeton) 189: Mitch Sliga (Fishers) 215: Nathan Cleveland (Lowell) 285: Ross Janey (Yorktown) Yeah... I predict some upsets ;D ;D ;D
  11. 12. Dont worry It will not be overturned and the IHSAA will not even look at the video... Same thing happened to Justin Cooper from Whiteland a few years back, he was 32-0 got DQ'd and was unable to wrestle at sectionals. The IHSAA was not remotely interested in the call they had better things to worry about it appears is though they are just going to ignore the situation at Jay County showing how much they care about wrestling. They make a decision and they stick by it no matter how wrong it may be.
  13. 189 Todd Hacker Mooresville Football 160 Trey Reese Indian Creek Football 215 Jacob VanDeventer Football
  14. Colts Offensive Guard Kyle DeVan was a California HWT state champion Adam Vinateri also wrestled
  15. Mooresville Sectional will dominate like always........Some of these Franklin wrestlers are just hot or cold depending on the day or match... Yes Vanhorn beat the #1 kid in the state and then he lost to the #20 kid the next match. Schofield beat the #16 kid and then next match he beat a kid thats 21-17 by a score of 1-0. Schofield already beat Heald 6-2, Schofield could be a great wrestler but he is too passive most the time. When he attacks he looks great and then sometimes he has real close matches with people that he shouldnt. All the Franklin kids listed above will probably make it out. Knura is just a man child, in a year or so when he learns some more wrestling he may be unbeatable. You can never tell with Bass, he is extremely strong and he either throws you and pins you or.... Good Luck to All the Wrestlers Tomorrow!!
  16. Zach VanDeman Whiteland HWT All State Football
  17. Derek Basbagill from Whiteland in 2004... He wrestled JV as a freshman, and then sophomore year he was a few matches over .500 he finished 4th at sectionals, and then 1st are regionals, 4th at semi state and lost friday night at state. I think he ended up like 26-19.. Pretty amazing he turned it on at the right time.
  18. I just did that math from the board on here and i think it should be 21-8 Franklin
  19. Is Tonte wrestling tonight? I heard a rumor that he wasnt but I dont want to spread any false rumors so Zach can you please answer this for me?
  20. I think that I heard that Schoolcraft has some nerve damage and couldnt feel his arm after he wrestled Hacker. I guess he sat out the last 3 weeks of the season to try to come back for sectionals but was unable to do so effectivly
  21. Well if you were aware of what coach did this you may change your mind... He has had many State placing teams over the last 10 years. Although probably unethical, as a coach would you want your sectional champion wrestler to draw into a returning state qualifier? I dont like the move but im sure it cant be proven whether it did or did not happen.
