  1. are there any training centers in the state that have a solid women's program to send young athletes too? if so please send contact information on the facility & staff
  2. i need help getting up to speed :-[ where is nathan boston from LN on everybody's list? is there a story i missed?
  3. in the many years of taking kids to summer wrestling camps, kirk trost sticks out as the best coach for the big guys i've been around. he has developed a lot of great kids for UM including greg wagner of fw snider. recently he was let go after 20+ years coaching [o5 national assistant of the year] & winning a ncaa title [86] as an athlete for the wolverines. the direction joe mcfarland wants to take includes a more youthful coaching staff. he landed a couple of good ones in sean bormet & donny pritzlaff. this will surely bring in quality recruits due to sean's overtime fame. i'm sure barry davis & andrew howe would have liked pritzlaff to have stuck around madison area. i hope kirk lands a job that will allow him to stay in the sport & mold future champions. he is truly a great man with a big heart. http://www.annarbor.com/sports/longtime-michigan-assistant-wrestling-coach-kirk-trost-and-mike-kulczycki-let-go/ http://www.intermatwrestle.com/articles/8469

  5. hopefully gilbert stays a little longer than vega did. this program has the potential to take off as mentioned. however, if they don't stay consistent the kids won't be there. also administrators are always ready to ax olympic sports that don't produce or become a problem.
  6. congratulations coach ;D nice to have southern indiana in the news ;D
  7. is he @ 84 kg? do you have a link on how he qualified [tournaments]?
  8. has anyone heard of possible coaching change @ winchester h.s. ?
  9. joe fagiano and adam chalfant should be interesting match-up @ 285. fagiano won a 5-3 [2ot] match vs. ricky alcala [5th/AA] @ intra-squad. chalfant coming off 3rd place AA @ juco nationals. i think he sits 1st half for transfer. i'm going with big joe ;D he has more experience & will have been competing before adam. here's my early early line-up. it will change i'm sure but iu will be tuff & young. one or two year away from being possible top 50% in conference meet. 125- brooks [so] or zimmer [fr] 133- ortega [sr] 141- nieman [fr] 149- walsh [fr] 157- konz [jr] or morris [fr] 165- lablanc [so] 174- fretwell [so] 184- chaney [fr] 197- powless [sr] 285- fagiano [sr]
  10. ball state wrestler john smith was AA in '73 [6]. i thought he was from yorktown/muncie area. ihsaa has a smith from franklin central? http://www.wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/pdf/brackets/NCAA%201973.pdf http://www.ihsaa.org/dnn/Sports/Boys/Wrestling/IndividualStateChampions/tabid/687/Default.aspx doug stoll indiana state champion for elkhart '68. AA for Anderson University '76 [5] & '77 [2] http://www.anderson.edu/athletics/hof/stoll.html
  11. anderson university [college back in the day] henry wilk was a state champ for mishawaka in 1969. AA for ravens in '72 [5] & '73 [2]. mike niccum was a state champ for delta in 1980. AA for ravens in '83 [5] & '84 [8]. leroy vega went to portage and won state in '96 & '97.
  12. andre howe has been out of the line-up for some time now. will he make it back? watching the badgers wrestle recently they aren't the dominate squad as they were early on. i believe they were ranked in the top 5. yes, i know the entire uw team has struggled through injury & adversity but it's crunch time. brands and iowa will show no mercy on the weak!
  13. if you are a member check with your team's college booster club. they usually get great seats and sl is an awesome place to be and to watched the d1 finals!
  14. i would love to see psu take it. iowa has the cannon ball rolling though.
  15. what's the word on casey kenney? has he redshirt or has he been he been dismissed? there had been mention of team rules violations.
  16. best i've seen iu wrestle this year. ortega and alcala looked very good. alcala could be on podium @ philly but he has to bring it every time.
  17. does anyone with trine program have information on freshman wrestler matt james/197 [jay county]? haven't seen him on roster or mentioned during competition.
  18. watched him wrestle this year on big 10 network. he just didn't have the fire but as stated earlier b10/12 and d1 are brutal.
  19. sorry to hear that josh ehr [sa] won't make trip to state. you had a great high school career and good luck @ indiana tech!
  20. meska @ jay county will probably be going 135-140 early on. leonhard - 145 and garringer - 189 are working hard towards new castle duals november 19-20. another name that might make rankings as the season moves on is kyle davidson @ 152. good luck patriots!
  21. can anyone out there give an update on leroy vega and calumet - sj team. his recruiting class looks good on their college site [125-133 especially]. they show 2-3 n.a.i.a. qualifiers on roster. however, not much ink out there on how they are looking for the 2010-2011 season.
  22. do you have any results? trying to find match results @ UI site and nothing.
  23. 125 - Angel Escobedo IU 133 - Matt Ortega IU 141 - Juan Archuleta PU 149 - Matt Coughlin IU 157 - Kurt Kinser IU 165 - Paul Young IU 174 - Luke Manuel PU 184 - Trevor Perry IU 197 - Logan Brown PU 285 - Nate Everhart IU INDIANA 31-10
  24. kelduck- i don't know if he'll give them to you, but that deserves some cool points from Y2CJ41 8)
