  1. Great turnout last night! Lots of little guys (pee wee and bantams). I will see the rest of you tonight. Coach Brewer
  2. Avon will be taking some elementary kids. I know that Columbus will be bringing some kids to this (they have in the past). We have been the previous 2 years. A good event.
  3. Please enter door 33. We are looking forward to our best season ever. Wrestling is very popular here. We look to have multiple state champs along with some very athletic beginners this year (who need basketball)!
  4. The Avon Wrestling Club will be holding sign ups on November 2nd and 3rd from 6:00pm to 7:30pm @ the Avon High School Cafeteria. The cost will be $100.00 for the season for elementary and $75 for middle school, (discounts for additional family members). Fees include a USA Wrestling Card, a practice pack (shorts and T-shirt), and practices from Nov. to May! We will be participating in Elementary duals, Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco. If you have a valid USA Wrestling Card, fees will be reduced by $30.00. Youth practices will begin on November 7th. The Black Group (beginners) will practice twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm to 7 pm). The Gold Group (Advanced) will practice twice a week (Mondays from 7:15 to 8:30 and Fridays from 6:00 to 7:30). In addition we will be offering a Live night to advanced wrestlers within our area, on Wednesday from 7:15 to 8:30. Middle school is TBA. Practices will be held in the wrestling room at Avon High School, and will be overseen by former Purdue Wrestler and Avon Head Wrestling Coach Israel Blevins and his staff. Additional instruction will be provided by former Indiana University Wrestler and coach Jon McClain (Yes, Purdue and IU)! An experienced group of youth coaches will be present as well. Dual meets will begin in November! We look to take two or more teams to duals this season. The cost of most duals will be covered by the club. Washington Township (Hendricks County) wrestlers are strongly encouraged to sign up. As in the past, others are welcome. Please call coach Matt Brewer with any questions at 317-201-0644 or visit our website at www.avonwrestling.org Avon Wrestling Club, Building The Foundation! 2011 ISWA club of the year!
  5. Good luck this weekend in Michigan. Carson is bummed that he will have to miss it (with a broken thumb). He will be back in three more weeks. It should be a blast this weekend. Best of luck to all Indiana teams. The Brewers To answer the questions below. Not sure who is going for Carson and the team was put together by a group of parents and coaches. Andy is helping them out. Thus team HYWAY.
  6. UPDATE - both Avon Teams are 2 - 1, with Avon Gold up in their current duel.
  7. Just saw the Avon teams off. Both line ups are full. They are young, but will do a good job. The boys are pumped. Good luck to Avon and all other Indiana Teams. I am sure that all teams will represent Indiana well. From the Avon Wrestling Club.
  8. That is awesome! My whole family enjoyed that. Great job Evan. That kid has a bright future.
  9. The community of Avon along with the Avon Wrestling Club would like to thank the ISWA and all that attended this weekend. We are a very proud Community and Club. With this said, we do realize that it is hard to do away with tradition (the fairgrounds), just as it was hard to say good bye to Tech (for those who wrestled there as youths). We hope that we can continue to host this event, and begin a new tradition for Indiana youth. I assure you that in the future that we will do everything (within reason) to make this event the best that it can be. I would also like to thank the high school kids, high school parents, club parents, club kids, and members of other clubs that helped out for many long hours this weekend. Congratulations to the 17 Freestyle State Placers, which live within our community. Matthew Brewer Avon Wrestling Club Board Member

  11. This is a pretty cool site that you can search for all-americans. http://www.wrestlingstats.com/aa/home.htm Should be able to compile a great list by using this site.
  12. Great job to all. The kids had a blast (so did the parents). Also congrats to Indiana Gold and coach Bailey. Gold allowed Little David Marcum (Avon) to into the 45 pound spot for Gold (Thank You!). It was awesome to see both Indiana teams rooting for eachother and hanging at night. We lost two heart breakers in pool play against Inferno and Florida (could have went either way). I was very pleased with the effort on the mat, and even more please with the sportsmanship of the kids. I would like to acknowledge Nathan Conley (Avon). He was our 80, but broke his elbow before the duels. Get well little buddy. Thanks for stepping up Krintz. I hope that all made it home safely. Thank you to all parents and coaches for your dedication. I look forward to next year. Coach Brewer

  14. We will call back with updates. Im sure that quinnsdad will post them for us.
  15. Junior Terps are a new team at this tourney. I saw many members today at NUWAY Nationals. They will be tough. Ohio sending just one team (due to the fact that T.O.C. is the same weekend). 11 states being represented. Should be good.
  16. Nathan Walton in the finals! Way to go Nathan.
  17. Congratulations to the Avon Wrestling club for their runner up finish and our friends with the Contenders Wrestling Club for their 4th championship in a row. The future of Hendricks County Wrestling looks bright.
  18. A couple of our club kids had a chance to preview this movie and really enjoyed it................but I agree a little Sheen tiger blood would have been awesome! They could have named it WINNER WINNER, and Sheen could have really gave that kid a good slap!
  19. Team is now full! Thanks to all that stepped up. We look forward to a fun and challenging event.
  20. 148 has been filled. Our 80 pounder has a broken elbow. We are looking for a quality wrestler that can make 80.9! Please email mbrewer@eliteindy.com if interested. See above for details.
  21. The Avon Wrestling Club would like to congratulate the 15 state placers from Kids State that live within our school district. This is down one from last year, but included 4 state champs and two runners up this year! The hard work is paying off and the future looks bright. Several others came up short of the medals, but a great effort by all. Thank you the the high school staff (Israel Blevins and Kyle Meunier) / middle school staff (Lee Harris) that were there with the little ones all day. Also thank you to the academy coaches from (CIA, Red Cobra, and Contenders) that have supported the youth with in our community. We would also like to thank the ISWA and the BD staff for a good day of wrestling. This was a great way to end the folkstyle season. We look forward to seeing all of you, at our place in May for Freestyle!
  22. Three state champs all on top half? WOW!
  23. Look forward to wrestling tomorrow. With this said, there are 3 state champs in my sons bracket. ALL THREE are on the same side! LOL ;D Owell I guess that he will make the best of it and try hard as possible. The seperation deal may need tweeked, but you must wrestle the best to win it all! This is the same in many other brackets.
  24. As stated in an earlier post, this will be a two day event next year. So there will be no need for an AM and PM after this years state. There were just unforeseen circumstances that led to the two gym scenerio this year. Typically the matches are numbered, so you can kind of follow when it is that your wrestler will be up. Go by the number printed on the brackets in the hall. However, towards the end (placement matches) you will need to stay on your toes.
  25. The facility is the best available. The ISWA has done a great job. There will be 10 mats in the fieldhouse (same as every other year). So that area we be the same. The main gym is a monster. There will be plenty of room to sit there also. There may be a few more people in the hallways camping out. The last time that they tried this they used the freshman gym, which was located far from the fieldhouse. The main gym is much closer. True, if you have two or more kids (like I do) it may be tough to go between gyms. If you have more than 1 kid, make sure each has a responsible person to get them to the mat. We need to keep this as positive as possible. And keep the kids in mind. We have all been to crowded venues in our lifetimes. I am sure that some of us have been to some much more crowded then that which we will be in tomorrow. A fight can happen anywhere. Why bring this up? We all know (as adults) that there will be police there and if you fight you may go to jail. Plain and simple, I trust the fine folks at the ISWA and at Ben Davis. We all should have a little faith and a lot of patience. As far as registrations. Again, the ISWA did an awesome job. As I was working late into the night. I continued to check the numbers. The registration ended right on time. 12:59 am (our Time). Again, lets all stay positive and do our parts as parents to not stir the pot and to make the best tournament possible for the kids. Thank God for the ISWA and the fine folks who have stepped up to host this tourney at BD. My hat is off to you. NOW LETS WRESTLE!
