  1. Nice job, RG...belittling the accomplishments of two hard-working and dedicated young men; that you, yourself, had ranked in the top 3 all year. I guess that was one microscopic grain of salt. The "rolling eyes" icon was a special touch, too. What a weak*&#% comment.
  2. Do the top 5 at each SS get an Indianamat.com shirt, or just each SS winner and top 5 overall SS?
  3. Tough loss, kid....now get back in the room and get to work. jk nice job.
  4. To put anyone other than a kid going for his 4th title on the cover, would be blasphemy. Maybe, a split-page with a 5-year-old, first-year hopeful, could display what dreams can turn into. This might draw more interest in the sport, and thusly, more participation.
  5. Thanks CB...couldn't remember most of the names...recalled Chris because he lived 2 doors down. Have I gone senile or didn't they whip up on Purdue and IU in those days? Seems like Indiana kept one dual close...but Baumgartner decided it with a thud in the end.
  6. Chris Campbell, State Champion from Delta High School was also on the team.
  7. MattM, It is a real shame. While I was at ISU had the pleasure of watching Bruce Baumgartner wrestle for free. If I'm not mistaken, it had the strongest collegiate program in the state at the time and recruited pretty much nationally. Bruce was from New Jersey, I think. They had a great 118 lber who was awesome on his feet...Dickman was his name. I think they lost their way when Title IX came along.
  8. Not necessarily true. At 130 last year, there were 3 undefeated wrestlers @ Conseco (Jackson, Mullins, Tsirtsis), all sophomores and the other 13 were seniors, if memory serves me correctly. The underclassmen were 1,2,3 on the podium.
  9. To the question of toughest SS. alot of folks on here say you can't go by # of champions or finalists, because those numbers are skewed by a few individual studs. So, I would think the semifinalist numbers are most reflective of strength, because each SS's seeds have proportionally wrestled each other at that point and provide the most accurate data. I think the numbers above hold true. 3 very tough SSs and one slightly lacking. With overall strength going to NC by the slimmest of margins.
  10. Sorry, guys ...not tattling...just want you to know in time that you can make changes. There are problems with last two entries. Wrestlingdude...Cody Phillips is more than $3, and tspray, VanWinkle costs more than $2. Good Luck, everyone!
  11. Can't wait 'til Saturday, when we find out what dogs are going to have their day.
  12. We don't care if you have a dog in this fight, all we want to know is...is Walter Sobchak's show dog in this fight?
  13. That should be a great match. I'll be watching closely as it is pivotal to all of my contest entries.
  14. I didn't know the man...but I've had to fight back the tears, reading all the accounts of how he affected so many people. I hope when the Bellmont kids start training for next year, they are doing so in "The John Friedt Wrestling Room."
  15. Very good Walter, but it was going to be $41.29, until he saw a post in the "Attendance" thread. In that post, a confessed life-long Merrilville SS attendee; admitted he had gone to the New Castle SS. I suppose that was proof enough that NC was the toughest SS this year. He factored that in, and divided everything by the percentage of coaches "dipping" in the corners, and it came out $38 on the nose. btw, If that is a show dog....why didn't I see it on tv, in the Toy Group, at the Westminster? ;D
  16. Thanks Y2, but calling them "losing picks," was a little premature. At least you are consistent in all aspects, I guess.
  17. Leaving for Indy today...wanted to make sure to get my entry in, so I re-submitted...it is identical to first submission. I hope at least one of them made it through. Thanks.
  18. 103 Boomsma 4 112 Todd 4 119 McHugh 2 125 Sommer 2 130 Moreau 2 135 Rieker 2 140 Tsirtsis 5.5 145 Roach 5.5 152 Mullins 2 160 Sims 2 171 Smith 2 189 Boots 2 215 Gallegos 2 285 Stevenson 1 38
  19. Y2, When I hit the submit button on the entry form, it seemed to start to process, but then went into suspended animation. All text disappeared and it just kept cycling. Could you confirm receipt of my entry? Thanks!
  20. Did they wrestle each other at team regional? If so, how did it come out?
  21. Just because Jason doesn't have the extremely wide shoulder set, or traditional "V," don't be fooled. His core is unmatched, and I have watched him turn kids that hadn't been turned in years. I never say lock, but he is as close as it comes.
  22. RG, I know someone in an earlier post, made it sound like recovery time had expired. However, I was casually watching the match, and remember being surprised at how quickly Austin was helped off of the mat and Justin's hand raised. I never looked at the clock, but I don't think more than 30 seconds could have gone by.
  23. I can understand that, thanks. In the meantime, I'm gonna' grab my cleanest dirty shirt.
  24. When will the results be posted? All my clothes are dirty, I don't have money for new ones, so I am hoping that I miraculously won a t-shirt.
  25. I enjoy reading the funny and witty comments, but THIS is hands down...The Post of the Year! It should be anyway.
