  1. I feel that both Jolas and Johnson the the fastest two wrestlers on their feet at 160 and are very simular with Jolas having the edge on skill but this makes it very difficult for both when it comes time to face eachother but Jolas was able to adjust and win the rematch at Regionals. Against Hiestand don't be fooled by the score. It was 0-0 with 10 seconds left in the 2nd when a points were goven up, and then with 5 seconds left in the 3rd Jolas tried to make a move and gave up back points but it was a risk he had to take. From what I've seen around the state I would have to say that both Jolas and Johnson are legit and can beat anyone in the state. I wouldn't at all be suprised to see them both Saturday frustrating their opponents.
  2. WOW, this is the best thread I have read in years but to be honest it's way to early to even try to figure out where the kids will go weight wise. In fact if you have paid any attention to tams like Yorktown and Bellmont you will never know until the tournament series starts but please keep up the banter it's compelling to read and laugh at, I thank you for a very amusing summer.
  3. Hard to believe but true ! back with the old AD several years ago, Yes HN was approached about joining the SAC and once again when Elmhurst closed but the current AD was concerned with splitting the gate with opposing school and then being able to be competitive with the SAC in football, basketball, soccer and so on. But lets face it would you as a coach enjoy the challenge of competing against the SAC since the fact is to get to state you have to go through Ft Wayne in the first place with football and basketball. Heck Northrop owns state just about in track and football is on a totally diffrent level compared to HN and their teams fans travel well in those sports. It would be a win for HN money wise to split the gate at Snider, Lures, Dwanger, NS in football and not to mention Basketball they always have a full house. Wrestling is a diffrent story but still they sem to have fans to travel well at least more then HN does. Lets not even mention the cost the school system would save traveling only 30 minutes away to play a conference game as apposed to 2hrs.
  4. The word is that Carroll will be joining the SAC which is a logical fit geo wise same for Homestead. As for Huntington it looks like they will be staying in the NCC with the new additions of Lafayette Jeff, Harrison and McCutcheon. Huntington has been asked at least twice to join the SAC but has refused the offer and as such I don't see them ever being asked to join again after snubbing their nose at them.
  5. Posted this week Huntington North HS has an immediate opening for the position of Head coach. A once up and coming program still with tools left in the shed with Shiply and Jolas still in the program. Contact Cdaugherty@hccsc.k12.in.us or Mgasaway@hccsc.k12.in.us if interested. Not sure what teaching positions are available at this time.
  6. Tech will also be doing open mat every Thursday at their facility giving the kid's three days a week to train along with AWP sports specific weight and conditioning training on Mondays, Wednesday's and Friday's. The cost is $300.00 for just the wrestling part then $250.00 for the AWP if you wish to include it. Not a bad price. For $550.00 you get to train three day's a week on the mat and three day's a week with AWP on the weight and conditioning specific side from April 8th until October. Tell me another place where you can get all of this at that price ? Heck I paid that much on a four day camp ???
  7. You will see Jolas, and Shiply both from HN again this off season as the work you and your coaching staff did with these young men as well as the others really helped then to succeed this season and will help set the tone for the next year as well. Best of Luck at Nationals Coach !
  8. Great kid, I never saw him complain while He was workingout during the off season or make excuses just grinding it out each practice.
  9. I see several tough matches in all with several winners and some hurt feelings along the way, but there can only be one standing at the top ;D
  10. I agree with everything but at 138 I see Garman winning and at 145 Arney also winning.
  11. Sorry Tad, I couldn't remember all the records and I sure that I messed up at least one more but either way a very impressive day by Indiana Xtreme's NE boys.
  12. Indiana Xtreme made up of Mostly NE Indiana kids did really well taking 3rd. Noticeables on the team were Eric Early Snider 126 and Zach Krumlauf Dekalb 132 going I believe 3-2, Anthony Lanier FW N. Side 180 4-1, Isiah Bradley Munice So Side 170 4-1, Haden Lee Garrett 117 4-1, Kyle Jolas Huntington North 160 4-1, Mason Meling Snider145/150 4-1, Gelen Robinson Lake Central Hwy 5-0, Bo Davis Kokomo 190 3-2. Others were Josh Stewart 132 in coming freshman woodland, Gerrett Pepple 107 East Noble. and at 145 from Carroll in coming freshman Josh Garman I believe.
  13. Congratulations Ed. It's great for the HS Wrestling to have you back sitting at the edge of the mat coaching again. Looking forward to coaching against you once again.
  14. I too have heard the same thing about Fleeger possibly coming back to Purdue, but I have also heard that Angel is a possible candidate as well.
  15. As for your question, yes Mullins missed weight. NC coaches stated that when they left the hotel that morning that he was right on but didn't take into account that each scale is diffrent. The staff then refused to bump Mullins up do to the fact the the kids at the other wieght did his job and made weight and it wouldn't be fare to him....Bravo NC coaches that's real class. Some coaches would have bumped up a stud like Mullins but you stuck with the kid who worked hard all season too and rewarded him...Bravo once again !
  16. Jolas wrestled the kid from muncie cent. can't remember his name but Jolas was on cruise control the whole match looking tough, Eckert had a kid from Anderson also unsure of the name but he too looked impressive at all times. Mason had a kid also from Muncie cent. very good match went went into OT seeing Mason score with the only takedown of the match. Wish that I coud provide further champions info but can't remember them all.
  17. Huntington North had Champions at 138-Jolas, 145-Eckert, & 285-Mason
  18. I have No clue what you've been looking at ! All of Jolas' matches have been at 138 this season. He's never even attempted to get down to 132 ,infact during the body fat testing he weighed 138 even with 7.0% BF. So I would guess NOT.
  19. 106 P win FF 113 P win pin 120 P win FF 126 HN Shipley win pin 132 P Loe win major 138 HN Jolas win pin 145 HN Eckert win pin 152 HN Little win pin 160 HN Robinson win pin 170 P win pin 182 HN Clarke win dec 195 HN Emery win pin 220 HN Pavey win pin 285 HN Mason win pin Huntington North wins big on peru's senior night 49-28
  20. Jolas of Huntington North went 5-0 at Avon with a big win over Judy of Danville.
  21. Hntington North is a team everyone sems to be over looking. I know that they loss Downey, Evans and two other senior's but they have managed to replace their loss of state qualifier kids each year. When they loss Cooper they replaced him with Mason who in his first year on varsity went to state and the same can be said with four yr varsity statred Randel who was replaced by Jolas a freshman who made it to state. With their core groop back and some new kids coming in, they should be decent to watch. I know that they gave Bellmont a scare in their dual last year.
  22. Not sure of the score, but he was pinned by a kid from Ohio.
  23. Nick Cooper from Huntington north will be a factor at 285 this season....The kid has been a beast this summer getting stronger and improving his skills on the mat
  24. NU's Herbert should win the Hodge this year showing every why betting another NCAA champ in his final match and doing it with class.
  25. Brandi, what are the normal times and days at LN with coach Hump ? Kyle had a great time this past Tuesday and has asked when we can go back. We'll attempt to get down there at least once a week if not EOW when possible wich middle school soccer season starting up next month.
