    Yorktown wins it over Cline?s Clubbers (Loganville, GA). Yorktown finishes with six undefeated wrestlers, and capture both the outstanding and technically superior wrestler accolades.

    I have always thought a forum was designed to be a marketplace for ideas. It appears that, yet again, some are misusing the message board in search of the truth. Unfortunately, our insatiable appetite for information does not entitle us to the truth. Save myself and tkdwn2, I am almost certain most others who have shared information here don?t know all the facts in this case. And frankly, it?s not anyone else?s business. I sleep well knowing this is far less about wrestling and more about what is both right and fair to a 17-year-old young man. We have always played fast and loose with the truth on this message board. My own son, if only by innuendo, has also been included in these inane recruiting accusations. The simple truth is we selected Yorktown High School for purely academic reasons (i.e. Newsweek?s 2010 Best High Schools). Because my son happens to be a talented wrestler, everyone assumes he was recruited. The reality is that he is a far better student than wrestler. We left a school district with a 57 percent graduation rate, and have lived in the same home for over 20 years. We also live half again closer to Yorktown High School than our home district?s high school option. The educational opportunities at Yorktown are unparalleled in East Central Indiana. That?s not recruitment folks, that's just plain good sense. I have labored for 25 years in a profession where I am expected to solve other people?s problems, and the only truism I can offer is that there are always two sides to the story, and that is certainly the case here.

    I have two boys. Collectively, they have over 15 years of wrestling and counting. Twenty or more state titles, a few national championships (i.e. they didn?t spend much time in the fetal position or backing up), and zero cauliflower ears. Headgear works.

    The receipt does not have the USA card number affixed. However, the ISWA has an impressive record of getting the cards in the mail once payment is received. I would expect you might recieve it by Saturday it you order early enough today.

    Thank you Coach Gard. I agree wholeheartedly. We, in wrestling, often offer excuses for our lack of etiquette, sportsmanship and general courtesy and attribute it to our passion for competition. For every Ty Cobb (who by all historical accounts was a miserable SOB), there are guys like Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Joe DiMaggio who did it right and are remembered with the same fondness. In other words, you can be a flat-out nasty competitor and do it with class. In fact, I would go so far as to say that those who have found the greatest success beyond our sport are those who competed with the most class. Consequently, they become our sport?s best ambassadors.

    I?m not certain that I understand the undue concerns over liability. If you are not travelling in a school owned (operated, etc.) vehicle and/or accepting athletic department monies, why worry? For many of us it will simply involve wrangling 18-20 wrestlers with $20 for the day and a third as many parent volunteers and their vehicles. That should suffice to cover the entry, food and fuel. That?s a bargain by today?s standards.

    Among the many deserving coaches in the IHSWCA, I can assure you that no one works any harder for the sport of wrestling than Coach Dulaney. Occasionally misunderstood, his passion for the sport and his wrestlers is renowned. It is good to see Troy recognized by his peers for his many contributions to the sport of wrestling. Congratulations my friend.

    This is a classic example of, ?He who chases two rabbits catches none.? For the past several years we (i.e. the wrestling community) have been preoccupied with extending the folkstyle wrestling season. The increased emphasis has effectively abbreviated an already short freestyle and/or Greco-Roman wrestling campaign. The quandary worsens when you factor in that many wrestlers are now mentally and physically fatigued by the time the ?Olympic? season begins. We used to blame baseball, but statistically speaking, fewer young athletes are playing baseball. There are no easy answers. The constants are that there will always be 24 hours in a day, and 12 months in a year. How many then do we reserve for freestyle and Greco experience? We can either learn to palate the mediocre returns from Fargo and the Schoolboy Duals or throw the legs in and ride it out. Of course, the latter option will yield no better results.

    On behalf of twin German exchange students Mark and Philipp Buhler, a big thank you to the ISWA for making their Greco-Roman wrestling experience a memorable one. Special thanks to April McClurg and Renee Schoettle for ensuring that they were placed on the same mat to ease communication woes. The sportsmanship displayed by the ISWA, the officials and their opponents translated well despite any communication gap. Mark placed second and Philipp eighth in a very tough junior 171-pound class. Again, thanks to everyone for showing what's right with Indiana wrestling.

    We (collectively as a state) probably haven?t helped the decline in freestyle and Greco-Roman numbers in our pursuit to become a top-tier folkstyle wrestling state. Did anyone catch the post-match interview with the Fighting Illini?s Mike Poeta on how freestyle wrestling has dramatically improved his folkstyle wrestling? Gives rise to the theory that maybe more isn?t always better.

    Like you, I have both apologized in public for my errors and have required the same of my children. I would say that your son more than got his money?s worth this past weekend in learning a lesson far more valuable than how to slip a head-lock. ?To err is human, to forgive divine.? We need more parents like you.

    The most dominating performance at state might have been from Mark and Deborah Young. You may better recognize them by their youngest son, Daniel, the reigning 145-pound state champ. I believe Daniel?s four older brothers (Jacob, Joshua, John-Thomas and Paul) all preceded their younger brother atop the podium. The Youngs not only raise great wrestlers, but even better kids. And yes, (at the risk of mixing my posts) Mark took the time to shake my hand at the state tournament. I wonder if they are interested in taking in any foster children. I have a son who enjoys wrestling and they seem to have a marketable formula for raising state champs. Congratulations are in order; they have every reason to be proud.

    Well done on your venerated (with your GPAs you will know that term) achievement. Historically, wrestlers have faired well out in the world given their mental toughness. Show me a good wrestler with a great mind, now you?re on to something. Again, congratulations to each of you for knowing the difference between a split-leg ride and a split-infinitive.

    Congratulations to Yorktown who will be sending six qualifiers to the state tournament. This is a respectable feat for a school with an enrollment of less than 800 students.
